hi Victoria,
wordfence was installed just a few day ago. Unfortunate I do not really know how to solve that.
Marco
Hi Marco,
Please deactivate Wordfence and see if the issue persists. Also, check WordPress forums for a similar error.
If you need further assistance please let us know.
Best regards,
Victoria
Hi, my host, Dreamhost, has alerted me that Server-Side caching is not working as it should, and they indicated that it is being caused by Enfold.
This was their message:
You might want to reach out to the theme developer about this because as you can see from the results it is keeping the server from caching. No caching means every page has to load, and thus cause performance issues as you been seeing.
!hat can be done to make their theme more user friendly with server-side caching?
The theme uses PHP sessions which interfere with the server-side cache.
The built-in caching is not working.

When I try to edit an element on a page or post within the builder, I get the following error:
An error occured
Error fetching content – please reload the page and try again
I’ve deactivated all plugins and turned Wordfence to Learning Mode, but it hasn’t worked. Any ideas? If you need login credentials, please let me know.
Thanks.
Hello Rikard, here comes my reply to the hosting situation:
IONOS offers so called clickandbuild wordpress hosting. There you can decide whether to get a fully managed wordpress instance or a self managed where you can install plugins and themes and make updates on your own. Thats what I did for this project.
I assume that this decision results in a duplicate file structure in the webspace and application folders like (see below) I don’t understand that the wordpress installation utilizes a plugin from the folder on the higher level and not from the website name subfolders (note: not all folders are shown, just the relevant to get an idea of the structure)
/
/clickandbuilds/
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-content/
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-content/languages/
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-content/plugins/
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-content/plugins/…
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-content/…
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-admin/
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/wp-includes/
/clickandbuilds/[website-name]/…
/wp-content/
/wp-content/plugins/
/wp-content/plugins/_wordfence -> folder was renamed to resolve the issue
/wp-admin/
/wp-includes/

Hey guys,
we deinstalled Wordfence after our hoster couldn’t find any errors.
This had the effect that the Enfold Theme Update section now says: “Last successful check was on 2020/04/02 11:06.”
But nonetheless it says: Keine Aktualisierung verfügbar. Du verwendest die letzte Version! (4.7.3)
Just to be sure: 7.4.7 is delivered automatically, right?
Thanks
Dirk
Hi Yigit,
thanks for the hint. I tried that by white-listing the IP via Wordfence. IP is 104.18.252.82, right? Had no effect.
I will also talk to our provider.
Thanks!
Dirk
Hi,
Thanks for that. I can’t login to your site though, the first time I tried I got an error message from WordPress saying that the details are wrong. The second time I got a Wordfence message that I’m blocked. Could you check the details and verify them please?
Also, which file exactly are you trying to upload? Please make sure it’s enfold.zip, located inside of the zip file you linked to on Dropbox.
Best regards,
Rikard
Hi @Ulrich1961
On my end, this has happened repeatedly, and usually was solved with the following aproaches:
- If you use WordFence as the plugin, make sure you place the firewall into “learning mode”
- If you use any sort of caching plugin, minification of .js files, CDN provider etc. you need to thoroughly flush the cache, rebuild any minification routines, and object cache, and preload files etc.
- If all the above fail, make sure you try to login to your site with an anonymous browser tab to double check if that makes a difference.
Hope that helps!
Hi MichaelSuttonsCellar,
Could you please contact your hosting provider and ask them to whitelist api.envato.com. They might be blocking it for security reasons.
And disable Wordfence and clear the cache and try to check for the update again.
Best regards,
Victoria

Hi,
Again, sorry for not replying immediately. We are still locked out of the admin area because of WordFence. Please disable the plugin temporarily so that we can access the dashboard and edit the script. Also, a link to the actual page containing the togglers will help.

Hi,
@peterolle login page is still giving the WordFence “You are temporarily locked out” error, please check.
Best regards,
Mike
I did some test today. It seems Wordfence is causing the issue. But it works fine with other theme, so they must be a conflict between Enfold and Wordfence. Right now, all of my plugins should be desactivated, but I’m not able to connect to WordPress Panel
Hi,
sorry, I’m not able to reproduce this on my install, and when I try to login to your site to investigate WordFence gives this error: You are temporarily locked out please check.
Best regards,
Mike
Hi,
When I disable your plugins, except for your security plugins and disable your custom portfolio builder elements for the “page”, your page gives the error “Not available” so there seems to be a conflict with these.
Restoring the plugins and custom function corrects this but still leaves the Uncaught TypeError: _.pluck is not a function error. When you disabled the plugins did you also disable the “Wordfence Security”, “WP Admin UI Customize” and “WPFront User Role Editor”? Can you leave these disabled, I don’t want to get locked out by disabling these.
Best regards,
Mike
Hi Victoria,
that approach helped. The editor is working again properly and shows the boxes.
What I have to check is how the hosting at IONOS (former 1&1) is working. The plugin is not listed in my website’s plugin list and not included in the plugins folder however IONOS has a second wordpress folder branch (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes) and there includes a plugin folder (which contained the wordfence files).
Anyway, thanks for your help,
Matthias
Hi Matthias,
It’s the Wordfence blocking the request.
Best regards,
Victoria
Hi,
Sorry for the delay. We tried to access the dashboard of the staging site but got temporarily locked out because of Wordfence. Please disable the plugin temporarily so that we can check the issue. A screenshot of the section or page containing the toggler will definitely help.
Best regards,
Ismael
Hi Victoria
I deactivated all plug ins, cleared cache and history and still not working.
Deleted the contact for cleared cache and history and set up another Enfold Contact form and I had Wordfence deactivated still. Cleared cache and history again just in case.
1/ I now have the correct form title
2/ It sends the reply email to the email address the subscriber used.
3/ BUT NO email to the website owners email address. I check spam and changed email addresses.
Then i changed email address so the email address was the same as the main website Admin (set up email address).
And now it sends email to website owner (main admin email) BUT not the the email address that the person who submitted the form used.
I have the latest version of Theme….
So we have a an Enfold Form issue…
Please, please can someone have a proper look to see why the Enfold Form does NOT work.
The page the form is on is – https://www.southernautomotive.com.au/contact-test-page/
Kind regards
Dave
Hello
We are using Wordfence Premium. It has picked up malware in two theme files. Here is what we are seeing. Can you advise how we can remove this? We have an option in Wordfence to delete these files. If we do this will it cause site functionality issues?
The theme is up to date to the most recent version.
Filename: wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-template-builder/php/html-helper.class.php
Filename 2: wp-content/themes/enfold-new/config-templatebuilder/avia-template-builder/php/html-helper.class.php
File Type: Not a core, theme, or plugin file from wordpress.org.
Bad URL: http://www.link.at/
Details: This file contains a suspected malware URL listed on Google’s list of malware sites. Wordfence decodes base64 when scanning files so the URL may not be visible if you view this file. The URL is: http://www.link.at/
Hi guys,
Just wanted to raise a ticket regarding a compatibility issue.
If you enable the setting “Cache on your server” within the Instagram widget while using a page cache, you will see a big number of 404 errors. This is due to the Widget deleting resources still referenced by the cached pages, because the refresh schedule of the Instagram widget & the page cache is different.
If using a WAF such as Wordfence, which bans repetitive 404 attempts, this will cause bans for every user hitting the cached pages.
This could be resolved if the Enfold widget kept the cached files around for n days instead of deleting them each time.
Can you please confirm whether this can be fixed in the theme?
Cheers,
Jason
Hi,
the hacker simply bypassed it a
We don’t really know how they get around it, but they probably have a script that deletes the checkbox before filling up the fields with the details, then send it. Or they’ve found a way to manipulate the validation script. Either way, activating the Google reCAPTCHA option should help in this case as @victoria suggested because the form will be validated not only in the client-side but also in the server-side, which makes the contact form more secure. You should also install security plugins such as WordFence to block unwanted traffic from the site and for additional protection.
Best regards,
Ismael
Hallo Manfred,
Thanks for the screenshots, I can’t access your site though since I’m being blocked by Wordfence. Which countries are allowed to access your site?
LG,
Rikard
Hey Victoria,
There is no Wordfence plugin installed on the wordpress.
We have been struggling the editor not loading for weeks.
Best regards,
Sebastiaan
Hi,
Thank you for the info.
Is the spam coming from the same source (location, IP or email address)? You can black list the IP address or prevent any traffic from a particular location — in this case from Russia — in the Wordfence panel. Please check the documentation below.
// https://www.wordfence.com/help/blocking/
Best regards,
Ismael
Hey soltner,
Thank you for the inquiry.
Are you able to send a message through the contact form when the spam protection is disabled? Disabling the spam protection is probably the only option in this case since we don’t really have any control how reCAPTCHA works internally. If you’re not receiving any spam mails, then it’s probably safe to just instead enable the simple captcha and install security plugins such as Wordfence or AIOWPSF to help protect the site from unwanted traffic.
Best regards,
Ismael
Hey Lemelerberg,
Please disable Wordfence and see if the issue persists.
Best regards,
Victoria
I recently upgraded Enfold to the latest version – 4.7.2.
It appeared to work ok but there are consistent issues with the site that I can’t debug.
1. When loading any page, I see a console error:
Uncaught TypeError: window.hoverintent is not a function
at HTMLDocument.<anonymous> (admin-bar.js?x17525:4)
(anonymous) @ admin-bar.js?x17525:4
2. When using Tabs on https://www.communityhousing.com.au/chia-queensland/ They dont work, nothing switches.
I have deactivated:
1. Cloudflare CDN
2. Wordfence
3. W3TC
4. All plugins
Still the issue persists.
Try now please I have disabled Wordfence
