We can’t help with specific problems unless we can actually see them. There is no general solution to “losing lots of stuff” unfortunately.
If you need an old version of the theme, then let us know which one.

2. I changed the CSS for you, and it’s working as expected. The colour won’t change unless you actually change the CSS I referred to.

The theme version you are running doesn’t support newer PHP versions, please try updating to the latest version of the theme. The update to 5.6.8 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or upload the new theme files via Appearance->Themes->Add New, and select to overwrite the old theme files after the upload has finished.If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

You should be able to see all calls being made in the Network tab in the browser console, or in your server logs. Note that remote calls are likely not the problem. Are you seeing any error messages in the console for example?

No, the resources are all local to the site in question. If you are referring to registering the theme on the backend, then yes, it does make calls to remote servers. But leaving the theme unregistered shouldn’t affect any site functionality.
