Also running Enfold 4.5.2?
Yes! It includes some cool new features and improvements such as (taken from the changelog):
- added: theme option to switch between new block editor and older in classic editor - fixed: an issue with older entries not being properly editable in the Layout Builder due to the new Gutenberg Editor interfering
So you don’t need the Classic Editor Plugin anymore for example.
Do you have lots of plugins installed? I usually have less than 10.
Hi bobfurgo
You could try to achieve that with a plugin such as:
1) Admin Menu Editor
or
2) AdminimizeI just did some research but have not used any of them by myself so I can’t give you any personal insights here.
Hope that helps, maybe try it on a staging environment first.Cheers
MichaelDecember 19, 2018 at 10:34 pm in reply to: Masonry Gallery not opening the images in lightbox #1047462Hi pepin
This is very likely due to an outdated header.php file you are using.
I would recommend you replacing it with the one from your parent theme and obivously include your modifications from your file in there as well and upload it to your child theme directory (keep the old header.php file just in case and as a backup). This should solve your issue and open the images properly in a lightbox again. The logic of how the lightbox works has been changed recently and this has been done within this file so if you have it in your child theme, these changes are not pulled – that’s why.
Cheers and I hope this helps
MichaelHi mmsdev
I totally agree with @digitalessence.
Had the same issue and updating the header.php file in the child theme directory solved it.Cheers
MichaelDecember 19, 2018 at 10:25 pm in reply to: How many have safely upgraded to WP 5.0.1 or beyond? #1047454Hi Illingco
I have upgraded several sites (my own and most of my clients) to WP 5.0.1 – why?
Do you prefer to stay with WP 4.9.9?Cheers
MichaelHi all
The issue in my case was actually my hosters “fault”.
There was a bug in their nginx configuration which has been resolved now.I am currently using PHP 7.3 without any issues.
@Ismael: Please close this thread. Thanks and cheers
MichaelDecember 19, 2018 at 2:04 pm in reply to: Download limit in Envato stopping me updating to 4.5.1 #1047183Hi Thomas
That’s really strange, I don’t have this issue.
Which error message do you actually get and where? If you go to https://build.envato.com, sign in there, generate a token and give permissions to it, insert it into your Enfold backend field – that does not work?
Cheers
MichaelHi Nadja
For what kind of message should I look for?
If there are really no error logs, I would check the access.log file and see if you find any errors concerning emails in there. So just search for “mail” within this log file and check if you can find any error messages there.
After the update (11.12.) the reply-adress was the standard wordpress-email adress. And since this update the mails do not arrive.
Can this have something to do with our problem?Did you check the default email address and are you sure the emails do not arrive there? In my opinion, if the emails arrived before (to your specified email address) then they should also be sent out correctly to the default email address.
Important to know: only the mails from sender with a spf-filter do not arrive.
Interesting. I suggest checking how the recipients email address SPF records are setup (if that is done properly). This article might help you.
Best,
MichaelHi Ismael
Thanks a lot for your input, but this sounds quite risky to me:
However, this is an expensive operation so it should only be used when absolutely necessary.
[…]
This is bad practice.And also:
// do not use on live/production servers
So I think I will just wait and be patient for now.
Cheers and thanks
MichaelMy guess for now is that it is connected with WPML and its not-yet-compatibility with PHP 7.3.
Opened a separate ticket there as well. Lets see what they think.Hey Anna
You have to update Enfold manually in this case. Are you familiar with FTP? If not, try method 1 below.
If yes, try method 2:
1) By plugin such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file
2) My preferred method, S(FTP). I described it in detail here https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-update-via-wp-dashboard-fails/#post-1022202I hope that helps.
Cheers
MichaelHi Nadja
They have no access, really?
Wow that’s very surprising to me.I am not sure if it is the server error file, but at least you might see some more information in it.
If they can’t give you access to it, I would consider changing your hoster. Access to error logs via webhoster is super important as you can see in cases like this.Otherwise it is very difficult for you to find the cause of this issue.
Cheers
Michael@cg: Ok I see, thanks. So it must have another reason in this case and not Enfold I guess. Did not try another theme yet.
@Chowdhury: No worries. I am not sure if I can change the PHP settings by myself tough or if it’s enabled by my hoster. I also altered my .htaccess file – no luck so far. Will see what my hoster says.
Hi Chowdhury
Thanks again.
I removed Intercom now but unfortunately still no luck.Still getting the same error after changing to PHP 7.3:
No input file specified.
Cheers
MichaelAlright thanks – I can’t just get rid of them :)
I will just wait for now until theme and plugins are updated.Yes me too – I currently use the following ones:
Classic Editor
Intercom
Statify
UpdraftPlus WPML
Yoast SEODo you think any of them may not be ready for PHP 7.3 yet?
Hi Chowdhury
Thank you very much for your input – that’s very valuable!
As already mentioned I will check it on my staging environment, disable all plugins and then try again.Cheers
MichaelHi Ismael
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
So if you haven’t tested the theme with PHP 7.3 yet, who can tell me when these tests will happen?
I can setup a staging site and give you access to it as soon as it’s ready, but I think you should do separate tests as well.In addition:
Did you flush the permalink or reset the .htaccess file after the upgrade?
No I didn’t do any of them. How do I flush the permalinks if I am not able to sign in to the WP backend?
Thanks
MichaelHi Nadja
May I ask which hoster you have?
I am pretty sure they should give you access to the logs and to see what is going on at the server where your website is on.What if you call your hoster and ask for it so they can tell you what is in the log? Or they give it to you in written form (by email for example). If they can’t give you access, they should at least be able to tell you (as they must have access to it by themself).
Best,
MichaelHi Terassenkind
You have to update Enfold manually in this case. There are two options:
1) By plugin such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file
2) My preferred method, S(FTP). I described it in detail here https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-update-via-wp-dashboard-fails/#post-1022202I hope that helps.
Cheers
MichaelThat’s great news!
Enjoy your day/evening.Bonsoir nparent
Try this code and insert it into the Quick CSS section:
.av-masonry-date { display: none; }
Cheers
MichaelHi demarcojeff
Try the following code and insert it into the Quick CSS section:
.widget ul ul li { display: none; }
Cheers
MichaelHi SlmnB
First of all, please change CHMOD to wp-content back to the value you had there before. This issue has nothing to do with that in my opinion.
The best option for now is probably to install the Classic Editor plugin – have you already tried that? Does it solve your problem? In addition: Are you already on WordPress 5.0 or not yet?
Cheers
MichaelHi
Please close this thread.
Thanks a lot
MichaelSalut juliettefournier87
Could you please post a link to the website here?
What should the ideal image height and width on the blog page be for you?Best,
MichaelHi Dogmut
I would say this is definitely possible.
You just create separate pages (your category pages) with the content you would like to display there such as /category1, /category2, etc.Afterwards you can put a link to your images on the homepage and like it like this:
Image 1 -> /category1
Image 2 -> /category2And there you have your filter if you have separate pages for each of your category obivously.
Cheers
MichaelDecember 16, 2018 at 1:16 pm in reply to: I want to add a static banner(image) on top of my homepage fullpage slider #1045889Hi oliverdubai
Which element did you use exactly – Easy Slider, Fullwidth Easy Slider or Fullscreen Slider?
What should be the size of this?
Depends on how much space you would like to give it. I would either use 1500x430px or 1500x630px.
Cheers
MichaelAnyone? :)
