Hey Thomas,
The purchase code you received for enfold is only valid for enfold. You do not need to activate the layerslider in order to use it, just for a few special features of the slider. If you would like to use them you would need to buy the slider on Codecanyon and then enter the purchase code for the layerslider.
However as I said: if you want to use the slider in a similar way than we do in our themes its not necessary to activate it.
If you have any further questions feel free to open an account here with your pruchase code: https://kriesi.at/support/register/

KriesiHey JaroMarinica,
Is this happening before or after you actually update to the latest theme version? It seems like there are some files missing on your installation and I am not sure why this would be the case.
My best guess would be that maybe one of the previous updates was not working properly. You can try to install the theme manually by downloading it directly from themeforest and install it via FTP
Access the folder ‘/wp-content/themes/’ from hosting control panel > file manager or via the FTP tool and rename the ‘enfold’ folder to ‘enfold-old’.
Download a fresh copy of enfold theme and extract the ‘enfold’ theme folder from the downloaded package and upload it to same location ‘/wp-content/themes/’ this should fix the issue.
Please refer to the link below for more info on updating the theme manually – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

KriesiHi,
Would you mind posting a link to your site so we can take a closer look?
Best regards,
KriesiHi Ben,
Thats something I have not yet experienced. Please try clearing your browser cache and see if that fixes the issue, if not feel free to post your login credentials as private reply and we will take a look and see if we can reproduce the error
Best regards,
KriesiHi Ben,
Thats something I have not yet experienced. But what Rikard wrote applies to you as well. Please try clearing your browser cache and see if that fixes the issue, if not feel free to post your login credentials as private reply and we will take a look and see if we can reproduce the error

KriesiHey Peter,
lg
KriesiWell I guess it is so, and we agree to disagree ;)
Most of the errors you noted were actually just a single one. People just describe the problems they got in a different way ;)
(not able to access admin screen, 500 error, media library issue are basically all caused by a single problem)Thats why we added a hotfix. Which, btw, we almost always need to do because there is no software out there that is bug free. And if we release something new I always try to release a patch for the first found issues the same day :)
Enfold runs on thousands of different server setups and unfortunately I can’t test them all. And the current issues unfortunately also requires a very distinct server setting so I wasn’t able to catch it during testing.
Anyways, the other stuff I have not heard of yet. If you need help with any of that let us know. If something does not work as intended there is always the chance that its an issue with the theme, thats why we are here and try to support you. But more often than not if we only receive occasional error reports its something different :)
Will close this now ;)
Cheers!Kriesi
Hi,
I update the theme to the latest version and the backend works fine again ;)
Best regards,
KriesiHey!
Since we haven’t made the announcement yet and the demo overview also does not show the latest demo yet (we wanted to iron out any smaller bugs before we tell everyone to upgrade) it might be that you missed the latest demo, in which case I would understand your confusion. If you havent seen the Enfold 2017 Demo you can already do so by going to the demo import screen of your backend and click the link to the demo. This demo is the main reason why this is a 4.0 relese.
Avada has a different focus than we have and this has been the case for several years now. They do a great job catering to their audience and I hope our audience loves what we do.
The thing is: I don’t intend to play the “lets add another 70 theme options, 10 elements or 30 one page demos” game that others do. When we add a feature I think 3 times if I can’t somehow automate it so that the user never needs to see the option. I only add new elements when I think they really bring something great to the table. And I only release full concept demos with multiple pages and unique design that I often spend weeks building, or in the latest case more than a month.
As mentioned above the Enfold 2017 Demo is basically the reason why I see this as a 4.0 release. It has a heavily improved builder experience, new elements and more importantly a huge demo that shows what the theme is capable to do. I have made a lot of backend changes that allow me to build better demos (like the option to import custom layersliders) and added new styles for a lot of element that by now looked a little outdated.
I basically wanted to build a theme demo that will release the Classic Demo as the default demo in the future. I am not mad if people like the Avada approach more, were you got a option for everything, but its not our way.
As for “the buggiest release ever”: we are currently having an issue with the layerslider update script that is causing problems on a small amount of older servers. Other than that nothing problematic has come to my attention, so I am not sure what you mean by that. If you have any issues feel free to let me know.
Hope that explains everything.
Cheers!
KriesiThanks for the notice. Probably also something that was changed with the latest layerslider version. Will keep it in mind :)
Hi ktsimeon!
Mind posting me your ftp credentials as well so I can take a closer look at the files and try to fix them?
Best regards,
KriesiHey duncan,
I am afraid I am missing the FTP address to log in. If you add that as well I will check whats wrong :)
Best regards,
KriesiOh just checked, I am sorry, those images should have just been imported once, that was probably caused by me, trying to fix the backend which might have activated the script multiple times.
I am sorry for that, took the freedom to remove those images for you ;)
As for the problem with the layerslider. I am afraid this one is not caused by enfold or the theme and might be an incompatibility between the old layerslider that was used and the new one. It seems you need to set the 3 images again, I am afraid.
I will report that to the layerslider team and I am sorry for all the hassle.
Hi,
If you are not using the demo content layersliders you can simply remove that. That content was previously located in the theme folder (the old layerslider had a different approach to importing the images necessary than the new one)
Since we updated to the new layerslider all images are now imported into your media library. This is to make sure that people who actually use the demo sliders in one way or another are not stranded with missing links.
But as I said, if you dont use those sliders feel free to delete them, along with the images
Best regards,
KriesiHi,
I found another small bug that we will address right now. your site is running fine with this bugfix so I would recommend to update to 4.0.2 directly and skip 4.0.1
And thanks for using enfold, glad you like it that much ;D
Best regards,
KriesiHi Mike,
I was able to activate your backend but not sure why the error keeps happening for you. I will investigate further but you should be fine with future updates since the code that causes the error only runs once and then never again.
@ak-muc I only can help if you post me a link to your site (please use the private content field) as well as your wordpress login credentials and ftp login credentials I will take a look at it and try to make it work again. Maybe we are missing something here and access to a server with this problem might help, since I am not able to reproduce the issue…Best regards,
KriesiHi,
I will take a look at your current site and let you know once I know more ;)
Best regards,
KriesiHi Mike,

Best regards,
KriesiHi guys,
Please note that in order to help we need as much information as possible. Please use the private info field to post us login credentials to your site and we will gladly take a look. If you want to go a step further you can also share your ftp credentials so we can make sure to activate your site and if necessary apply a fix to the code itself…
Best regards,
KriesiHi runriotcreative,
this is probably not the same issue since the latest version was only released a few hours ago. I checked your site and you are using a few really huge images like this one for example: https://missionutoo.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/159.jpg (1.6mb for a single image is really a lot) – there are certainly other things that can be optimized as well with a caching plugin so I would recommend to check for hughe images and videos and replace them with optimized versions and also try to use a plugin like wp-supercache to speed up the site :)
Best regards,
KriesiPS: @defeyter is the excessive load an ongoing issues? When the new version is first installed it will (for backwards compatibility) import images for the default layersliders which are no longer part of the theme package. Its pretty much the only thing I could think off which puts some strain on the server but it should be done in a minute or two…
Hey!
I am currently investigating the issue.
Would you mind sending me a link to the facebook post that has the issue since I have problems reproducing it. Thanks!Cheers!
KriesiHi!
I have informed the layerslider team about the issue. Unfortunately nothing we can fix in the theme, we need to wait for them to solve the issue permanently in the layerslider plugin.Until then you will need to re-do the change or add an image with white background :)
Cheers!
KriesiPS: version 3.8.5 is out now and can be downloaded on themeforest. it removes the line that triggers the false positive
Hey!
I will explain in a little more detail so you do understand whats going on here. First of all: Basilis is right. There is no security risk at all. Its a false positive.
In the file that is mentioned by Wordfence and other security tools (enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-template-builder/php/html-helper.class.php) we got a php comment that explains what one of the functions does. The comment says:
//fallback for previous default input link elements: convert a http://www.link.at value to a manually entry
The link that is posted in that file is a generic placeholder for any link used. What we did not know is that actually someone was using the domain “link.at”. Apparently this domain got hacked now and is blacklisted. And this is why Wordfence thinks that the theme has a problem, because there is a link to a hacked domain.
However: This link is located in a php comment (its not an actual html link) which will never be displayed anywhere, can not be clicked, can not be used at all. It simply a line of non executable text. We will remove this text with the next update, however there is nothing you or your team need to do to your clients servers, theme files or whatnot since
a.) there is no actual problem, just a false positive
b.) you can fix the false positive by removing that single comment lineWe will release a small fix for this issue to prevent any further confusion about it. But to be clear once again: this can not be used to hack anyone or anything. It’s a false positive and if you think your site has been hacked its certainly not because of this. (I would also doubt that its because Enfold in general, because there are no known issues with the theme but if you think you have evidence that the opposite is true please share it so we can investigate the issue)
Best regards,
KriesiHey!
I am currently building the next major release so yes, enfold is going to get better in many ways. The next release will focus on the layout builder and make it more user friendly, the release after that I want to dig into the header area and improve that.
So in general I want to improve existing stuff and make sure not to overdo it with new features, so Enfold doesnt get to hard to use for new users and does not get bloated.
I did start to post from time to time on facebook about what we are working on so you might want to follow us there for the occasional update ;)
https://www.facebook.com/kriesi.at/
Cheers!
KriesiHi!
If you did not download the theme it must have been an oversight on my part and I am sorry for that. In that case please open a new request and I will approve it.
Best Regards,
KriesiHi!
Basically no, since „checkboxes“ are not part of the basic list elements that a user can fill in in Settings->List fields and *|MERGE|* tags in the mailchimp backend they dont work. Checkboxes only work as part of “mailchimp groups” which are currently not supported in Enfold (because of their higher complexity from a programming view) If you want or need to use them: there are full fleged mailchump plugins that support this, but I am afraid we are not there with enfold yet.
However, I am not sure which laws you are talking about, the only one that I am familiar with is the double opt in process (subscriber gets a verification mail after he subscribed, so he can verify that he really wants to receive the newsletter). This does not require a checkbox in the front end but in the admin area to enable the double opt in, and that option is of course available for enfold.
If you need a checkbox in your front end for specific laws to your industry that I am unfamiliar with I am afraid you would need to use the plugin “mailchimp for wordpress” – its not as easy to use as our implementation, but because of that it also covers more advanced use cases.
Best regards,
KriesiHi!
You need to make sure that version 3.8.4 is installed, once it was approved by themeforest. It will probably be available within the next few hours ;)
Cheers!
KriesiHi!
If by 404 you mean you see the netregistry parked domain message: this is not something caused by the theme. I switched themes and it also happens with other themes, among them the default wordpress theme so I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with Enfold. I guess this has to do with some settings that need to be changed in https://theconsole.netregistry.com.au/, however I am afraid I don’t know what you would need to do in order to set this up properly since I have never worked with that service provider before.
I guess you best course of action would be to contact their support and ask what you would need to do to properly display your wordpress installation. I also hope you can reconsider your rating since this does not seem to be theme related…
Regards,
Kriesi -
