    Hi all!

OK – two months ago, we did 10+ PageSpeed tests on our Enfold site and got an average score of 68 for mobile. Not bad.

Since then, we’ve changed almost nothing about the site except installing WP Security and Maintenance Release (Sep 9) and Enfold updates on Sep 27, Oct 4, and Oct 7.

5 days ago we did 10 more PageSpeed tests and got an average of 38.

First we tried putting the site up on CloudFlare – didn’t help.

Then we tried uninstalling all plugins, then reinstalling one-by-one, testing several PageSpeed scores each time.
Still, no change from the 38 average. One score was as low as 15.

Here is a list of our plugins:
    – CallRail
    – Companion Auto Update
    – Enable Media Replace
    – Gravity Forms
    – Imagify
    – Mailgun
    – Media File Renamer
    – Stream
    – SVG Support
    – Wordfence
    – WP Rocket
    – Yoast SEO
    – Yoast SEO Premium

Any ideas of what might be going on, or other things we could try?

I’ll leave our site and credentials in the Private Content.

    Thanks!
    Dave

In reply to: Mobile layout oddity

The problem was not fixed with Gunther’s SVG file change. I updated again to 4.8.6.4 and swapped out his replacement php file. I am not sure why you said you could not inspect the site – I use Wordfence but there are no location blocks setup at all.

If you go to https://ready.mobi/ and run my url https://logancoedsoftball.com/ you will see exactly what the site should look like in all modes. BTW, I removed the bg graphic from smaller renderings below 768px since it would not work period. So, if you look at what ready.mobi delivers and the actual content on a real cell phone, they are quite different. On a real phone the logo in mobile is MUCH larger than it should be and pushes the mobile menu to the right so much you don’t even see the Facebook icon any longer. This also has nothing to do with anything child theme related since I am not using a child theme here.

I have numerous sites to manage and this was the first I tested on. There is definitely something wrong with the way logos are being downsized for mobile in the code.

Also, there should be no difference in what I see when I load the site in a standard mobile browser window vs. a private or incognito window. This is NOT the case. Elements are all loading in an incognito window and the logo is oversized. In a standard window, I am missing the blue color section backgrounds.

    Hi Rikard

I wasn’t aware there were other options. I would be interested to know what they are.

However, there are only 8 posts which meed to be rebuilt so it isn’t a big deal.

Thanks for the locations. I had assumed that we were blocking the relevant countries using Cloudflare or Wordfence rules but we are not – so now I have to investigate why you are seeing 403 errors.

    regards

I wonder if it could be the WordFence plugin. It was causing some issues with the Avia editor on my home page as well?

    #1316137

    Hi!

I went into wordfence and removed the blocks that you encountered. Please let me know if there’s anything else that you need to know.

    The issue persists.

    Thanks

    Hi Susana,

I can’t access your site, Wordfence is blocking access:

Your access to this site has been limited by the site owner
Your access to this service has been limited. (HTTP response code 503)

If you think you have been blocked in error, contact the owner of this site for assistance.

If you are a WordPress user with administrative privileges on this site, please enter your email address in the box below and click "Send". You will then receive an email that helps you regain access.

Which locations are not allowed to access your site? If you could allow the countries in private, then we should be able to access your site.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi,

Thanks for that. The login details seem to be working, but I’m getting blocked by Wordfence:

Your access to this site has been limited by the site owner
Your access to this service has been limited. (HTTP response code 503)

If you think you have been blocked in error, contact the owner of this site for assistance.

If you are a WordPress user with administrative privileges on this site, please enter your email address in the box below and click “Send”. You will then receive an email that helps you regain access.

I’m not sure which countries or IP ranges you have blocked, but if you could allow the countries in private, then we should be able to access your site.

    Best regards,

    Hi,
Thank you for your patience and for the login, I don’t see a reason for this error right off but I do see this error Wordfence installation is incomplete please try Resuming the Installation perhaps this will solve. If not please enable the WordPress theme editor so we can see the child theme functions.php to see if there is a redirect script there. Also check the One.com plugin and the Page Builder by SiteOrigin plugin to see if they have a maintenance mode option, the One.com plugin leads to another login so I can’t see the options. If none of this helps try disabling all of the plugins so we can see the error with only Enfold enabled to try to figure out what is happening. Do you know when this may have occurred?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hey Guys,
Wordfence has thrown this up at me after a scan and I wondered if it is something malicious or something the theme requires and to be ignored?

    Hi,

@GROSSfanz @volmering Try to install a security plugin first like Sucuri or Wordfence and observe if it helps lessen the spam mails. And again, enabling Google ReCAPTCHA should also help but if it does not meet your privacy requirements, then you might have to replace the default contact form with another. Unfortunately, you will have to replace the contact forms manually.

    Hi

I created a widget with the below-mentioned code however when I insert it, it says internal server error. I thought it might be Wordfence but when I deactivated it still showed the error.

    #1307656

    Hi,

There were wordfence in the list. I uninstalled it to eliminate that possibility and the last problem I have encountered could not be that. Here is the list. Many are not CPU intensive actually. However, I changed to 7.3 from 7.4 in the serverpilot admin. The site is more responsive. Let’s see if that changes.

Plugins List: Akismet Anti-Spam, CDN Enabler, Classic Editor, Compress JPEG & PNG images, Easy WP SMTP, Enable Media Replace, Envato Market, Facebook for WooCommerce, HeatShield, Insert Headers and Footers, iyzico WooCommerce, LayerSlider WP, Loco Translate, MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress, Product Filter for WooCommerce, Quform, Really Simple SSL, Really Simple SSL pro, Redirection, Regenerate Thumbnails, Taksitlendirme ( My local plugin for installment shorcode), Tracking Code Manager, WooCommerce, WooCommerce Tab Manager, WP-Optimize – Clean, Compress, Cache, WPS Hide Login. Hi,

I do not know the reason but I am getting this error so much more than before. Never seen this especially for Enfold. Really. May be 1 times in a year or so.

I am doing nothing actually. I login and in the dashboard I click the plugins or theme options. Then I see this image below. The website does not response. There is not actually a database change. May be just login record or so.

    Screen-Shot-2021-06-15-at-07-14-43

I ssh into the server and use this code in terminal: “sudo service php7.4-fpm-sp restart”. I refresh the page and web page opens. But in 1 or 2 minutes the problem happens again. I am not creating a page just clicking a menu item. I used to open like 10 pages at the same time. 2 would not be opened and I used to see this error but not in 8 pages. Then I changed that aggressive editing habit and opened 5 pages at the same time. Now I cannot even do this as well. I also disabled wordfence ( simply uninstall it with assistant) and uninstall wp-rocket for possible high resource usage. The problem is still there. CPU usage is increasing significantly. That is the problem but why?..

I use serverpoilot and Linode. I have seen the apache error.log and may times it is wp-admin. There is not any php error log but phpslow log and phpaccess log. When I send these log files to serverpilot team they generally say it is your plugins… etc. I cannot really understand the issue. Do I need a server expert? Or a developer ( many really do not understand the server issues anyway). Which road should I take? What is your suggestions?

    Thanks

Our apologies, our admin has WordFence set up to block external countries. I have removed Philipines from the list so you can view the site. Let me know any other countries to “unblock”. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Guys,

I have several Enfold licences and all websites that have enfold installed have the following warning:
Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/customer/www/webaddresshere/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/slideshow_layerslider/slideshow_layerslider.php on line 28
This warning is visible above the primary navigation.

Also when I try to login to any of the websites I get the following warning:

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/customer/www/webaddresshere.org/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/slideshow_layerslider/slideshow_layerslider.php on line 28

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/customer/www/webaddresshere.org/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/slideshow_layerslider/slideshow_layerslider.php:28) in /home/customer/www/webaddresshere.org/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1329

All themes and plugins are reasonably up to date however the Wordfence plugin updated yesterday and may somehow be responsible for the issue!

Any speedy ideas or solutions would be most welcome!

    Regards,
    Andy

In reply to: Fixing CLS errors

    Hi,

We tried to login again to the site, but got temporarily locked out by Wordfence. Did you add the css code in the dev site? Please toggle or temporarily disable the Enfold > Performance > File Compression settings after adding the css code and make sure to purge the cache. You should also test the site on incognito mode, just make sure that nothing is cached.

Did you add this css code?

    .home #av_section_4 .container {
        min-height: 430px;
    }

This should set a minimum height to the section with the testimonial element and prevent the elements next to it from shifting when it transitions. You may need to replace the #av_section_4 selector with a unique ID or class name.

    Hi,

I am sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a solution yet.

It turned out to be a plugin conflict when users reported similar issue in the past so I tried de-activating all active plugins on your installation except for Wordfence however that did not help. The problem is, there are strange characters in your JS files. I attached a screenshot in private content field which was shared by @mike in our internal channel.

I am not sure if that is encoding related or some sort of a malware. Could you please check with your hosting provider and ask them if that could be server related?

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Hi comprompt,

These are the steps that you can make.
    1. Go to the LayerSlider WP > Options > System Status then check PHP Post Max Size and PHP Max Upload Size is greater than the file size of the enfold zip file, then check if PHP ZipArchive Extension is enabled (if it’s not then please enable it then try to resume step 9). You can also check Server Settings via Tools > Site Health.
    2. Check file and folder permissions, make sure to have all folders set to 755 and files set to 644 (except .htaccess).
    3. Try to upload default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty One manually (similar to the method I posted above) if it works, resume to step 10 in Option 2: Update manually.
    4. Check your security settings either in the server or if you have a plugin like Wordfence, if you make changes, go to step 3.
    5. Update manually via FTP.
    I hope this will help.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi CPM_usa,

    You’re welcome :)
I believe you can still work with Wordfence it might just be one setting you need to disable.

    Hi CPM_usa,

Thanks for giving us admin access.
It seems Wordfence is blocking the iframe (see screenshot in private content).
Please try to temporarily disable Wordfence and see if this operation proceeds, if yes, then enable Wordfence back and tweak its settings.

    Hi Roberto,

Thanks for giving us admin access.
I tried to use the Lato zip file in the Media Library in Custom Font Manager and I’m getting 403 Forbidden error (screenshot in private content)
It seems this is a permission issue, try checking if this is prevented by either Wordfence or the server.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi Maaike,

Can you please have Wordfence disabled for now so that we can test too?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

This reply has been marked as private.

I did not remove any code. A member or your organization did email about code. I did try to update without Wordfence without luck. Also, other sites I help on use Enfold and Wordfence successfully together. The image problem does still exist. The images show in group page preview, but if you click on an individual product to read more about it, the picture disappears beside the product description. Oddly, if you click on the blank space where the picture should show/used to show, a full-sized version of the product pic opens. Finally, the icons for the spacer element is still missing from the legal template.

I attached a file back to the email I got from you, but it goes to noreply? How do I attach the file here for you?

    Hi Elise,

The code for the reviews was not in the child theme, did you remove it?

The update request might not get through the Wordfence, did you try it with this plugin disabled?

I could not reproduce the issue with the images. They seem to be working.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    #1282022

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

If this continues to happen, your site is probably a target and they found a way to bypass the simple captcha script. You may need to use a different contact form or use another security plugin such as WordFence or All In One WP Security & Firewall to control the site traffic and block suspected addresses.

    // https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/
    // https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall/

You could also try this plugin.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the info.

Does it fix the issue on your end? We still cannot access the file server and now even the actual site is not accessible on our end because of WordFence. Would you mind opening a new ticket so that we could refresh or restart? Please post the FTP and WP login details and make sure that Philippines is not blocked.
