    Hi,

Have you installed any security or Caching plugins such as Wordfence or WP Super Cache?

One of the plugins is causing an issue with the ajax file.

To find which plugin is causing the conflict please follow these steps:

    1. Go to your plugins page > Deactivate all active Plugins
    2. Update WordPress and Enfold to the latest version if you have not.
    3. Make sure all the plugins are updated.
    4. If the problem does not persist when plugins are turned off, activate one plugin at a time and refresh until you find the plugin in conflict.

We await the results of your plugin compatibility test.

    Thanks for your cooperation :)

    Best regards,
    Vinay

Aha! We fixed it. The 403 forbidden got me thinking… maybe the WordFence Firewall is blocking it. And it was. :)

I set the Firewall to learning mode and the issue was resolved.

    Hello Ismael,

We are still receiving spam so the re-captcha is not working. Could it be because we are using one footer for the whole website? Please advice us what to do next, we currently have Wordfence, Askimet and the recaptcha running and still receiving this spam through the enfold mail-form.

We are aiming to use Enfold for another project but we would like to have this fixed first.

If needed I can provide the code of the mail, our login credentials for the site are provided before in this ticket. You could have a look yourself.

    Hi,

Your CSS is being cached by what I’m guessing is a plugin, I couldn’t login since WordFence is blocking access. Please try to clear and disable all caching and check again: When to not use a caching plugin.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

That’s weird, when I click the same link it takes me to the Dashboard. Maybe try /wp-login? I temporarily disabled WordFence, that might be a cause. The code isn’t working for me though, the titles still are displayed below the images.

    #1051989

    Hey PHLwebmaster,

Please deactivate all the caching plugins and Wordfence and let us know when we can check.

    Hi Ismael,

We have tried Wordfence and this also did not help, also we have a CAPTCHA activated but will try the one you are suggesting. Could you tell us if there are more people that have these issues with the enfold theme and why this is getting through the current security?

Also i cant seem to download or clone the file, could you tell me how to install this?

    Hi,

The contact form’s security question is quite easy to bypass, so it’s up to you, the site owner, to add more security measures to protect your site from spammers and hackers alike. Adding a reCAPTCHA widget to the contact form should help. You can use this plugin:

    // https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/tree/master/customizations/enfold-recaptcha

You should also install an all-in-one security plugin such as Sucuri or Wordfence to fend off malicious attempts.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I have three websites running Enfold 3.8.4 on GoDaddy’s servers. Updating to 4.41 requires server upgrade at GoDaddy to PHP version 7.0 or greater and MySQL version 5.6 or greater. It’ll cost me a bunch more for this upgrade each year.

What am I missing out on by not upgrading? The sites work fine, and WordFence is keeping out the bad guys. Is it more than a security issue?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Hi,
Sorry I don’t see any errors on the page so I’m unsure why the free version works and not the paid version, perhaps the paid version is pinging some url for licensing or trying to call a outside file and your Wordfence Security is protecting your site thus blocking the paid version? Try disabling your other plugins.
Sorry, this plugin is outside our scope for support, hopefully the plugin author will assist you soon.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,
Thanks for the login, I added the recaptcha shortcode to your contact form to show the element, but you are getting this jQuery error:

Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined
        at createCaptcha ((index):279)
        at (index):287

I can’t see your functions.php because the editor is hidden.

While researching any additional steps needed to get it to work I found this post from Ismael who wrote the script:

We can’t recommend the same script before because of DSGVO or GDPR. Please try Sucuri or Wordfence to protect your site from third party scripts or spams ~ How Sucuri Helped us Block 450,000 WordPress Attacks in 3 Months

I see that you already have Sucuri installed, perhaps the article has some tips for using it more effectively?
I’m not sure that you will want to continue with the recaptcha.

Have you considered Contact Form 7, I found that there is a addon Contact Form 7 Honeypot which looks like it would be very effective.

    Best regards,
    Mike

I tried logging into squiggle to take a look, but WordFence says I’m locked out now.
If you would still like us to take a look, please check the WordFence setting and the login details in the Private Content area.

Unfortunately this is happening for all our clients since this topic appeared on May 2018. And it is not a server issue because the websites are hosted in different servers including WP Engine, Kinsta and other well known providers. We have to abandon using the Enfold contact forms and change them with CF7 with reCAPTCHA from Google. Using wordfence/sucuri or any 3rd party WordPress plugin is not a fix of the cause. Please escalate this to the dev team asap.

Hi Victoria, so your suggestion is to consider using Wordfence or some other plugin?
I am already using Defender Pro and Akismet and it is still happening. We have a Gravity Form in use and that is not getting any spammy mail it would appear to be only the Enfold generic Contact Form that it attracting spam like moths to flame.
It could, of course, be a complete coincidence but it only started to occur after the last update we did.
Can you confirm why the Enfold Contact Form does not require a key id and secret key for the use of Recaptcha?

    #1035448

    Hi,

I would like to check the site again but got temporarily locked out. Please disable Wordfence temporarily. Did you set validations for other contact form fields?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1033501

    Hi,

You have to provide the url of the page where the form is so that we can check the issue. For added security, please enable form captcha and install a security plugin such as Sucuri or WordFence.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi,

    @crossroadsabc
glad that you were able to find out that it was the “Series Engine” plugin.
I took a look at this by activating it and tried to examine the options and settings of the Series Engine plugin to see if I could find a solution, but I was booted out of the site, probably your WordFence.
Have you tried asking the Series Engine author if they have any other reports like this for any sliders? There is a good chance that they already have a solution for this.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Last night I went ahead and attempted to update the Enfold them to 4.5 again. This time around, I deleted the old Enfold folder and uploaded the new version. Our LayerSlider still disappears. I did a little more digging and deactivated all of my plugins save Wordfence. I realized that the LayerSlider would appear when I did this. I then turned them all back on one by one and discovered that the only plugin that is interfering with Layerslider is our Series Engine plugin. I currently have this plugin deactivated and our LayerSlider now works. That said, we need our Series Engine as that’s how our users access our podcasts on our mobile app.

Can you do some more troubleshooting and let me know if there’s anything else I can do to remedy this? Currently, I do not have access to our Cpanel with Media Temple and so I can’t go that route. The temporary credentials I sent you should still work for our site and for FileZilla.

    Thank you for your help!

    -Gabe

    Hi,

I would like to access the dashboard but I got blocked by WordFence. Please disable the plugin temporarily. Where did you add the css code?

    #1031048

    Hi,

I’m very sorry for the late response. Have you tried installing security plugins like Sucuri or WordFence? They may be able to block those spams or at least report where they’re coming from.

For additional security, try to implement the reCAPTCHA widget to the form.
