You can use Enfold child theme if you are planning to make changes on theme files. Please see this page for more information – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/
We do have German speakers on the theme but unfortunately i am not one of them and documentation page is only available in English. Hope that helps :)
