Please try editing your page and add an element on top of your content, save, then remove the element and save once again. Refresh your page and whitespace should be removed. If not, please post a temporary admin login here privately so we can look into it

Adding following code to Quick CSS in Enfold theme options under General Styling tab would remove the effect globally
```
.image-overlay { display: none !important; }
```
If that does not work or you would like to remove the effect only from featured images, please post the link to your website.

Unfortunately it is not possible unless you purchase LayerSlider as a standalone plugin. Bundled LayerSlider only works fullwidth on Enfold
