    Hi Anton

I have successfully updated lots of websites using Enfold by following the guide below.

Update your website manually via FTP:
    1) Make a full backup of your website using a backup plugin.
    2) Safe the backup somewhere outside from the webserver of your website (e.g. on your local computer or in any cloud storage you trust).
    3) Sign out from your WordPress website.
    4) Go to your themeforest account, sign in and download the updated Enfold v4.5 to your computer. Extract it and search for the file enfold.zip. Extract this file as well to already have your folder ready to be uploaded.
    5) Sign in to FTP or SFTP using FileZilla or any other tool which is able to do that.
    6) Go to the folder ./wp-content/themes and search for “enfold”. If you want, you can download the enfold folder to your computer as well (just in case you want to restore if afterwards which is easier like that than using the whole backup).
    7) Delete the folder enfold via FTP. This may take 5-10min, depending on the server speed obviously.
    8) Wait until it is finished and the enfold folder is gone. If that is the case, upload the “new” enfold folder including v4.5 to your website in the same directory.
    9) Sign in to your WordPress website again and go to the Enfold tab (or the one from your child theme). Scroll down to the tab called Theme Update.
    10) Your current API token will not work anymore as Envato changed some stuff on their API. Therefore you need to remove your current key and generate a new private key as visible in your themeforest account under “Settings” -> “API keys”. Go to https://build.envato.com and follow the steps there. To me, https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#toggle-id-5 was also very helpful (scroll down a bit there to find out about the permissions your private API key needs in order to check for future Enfold updates). Without these permissions it will not work.
    11) Enter your generated Envato key in an incognito/private mode browser window. After revalidating your new private key within the Enfold update tab, you should see a blue rectangle saying when it could be checked for the last time.
    12) Done!

    I hope this helps!

    Best,
    Michael

    Hi Joanna

    I just watched your screencast.

There are options to display your list responsive, but you should change the view in the tab “Anzeigeoptionen”, not via the font size.
Try to have a view for Desktop viewports and a separate one (with just one column) for smaller screens. This should work smoothly.

    Thanks und liebe Grüsse

    Hey SakuraD

    First of all: nice website/shop!

Regarding your robots.txt file I assume this can cause some issues – as it is duplicated. First you have stuff for the Googlebot only and afterwards for all bots:

    User-agent: Googlebot
    ...
    User-agent: *
    ...

It has two times the exact same /disallow parameters.
Do you have the chance to edit the robots.txt file directly over (S)FTP for example?

    Best,
    Michael

    Hey Bettina

I will try to help you here.

    1. The height of the icon boxes is not equal although I have set the option equal height for the first column
Do you have several columns below each other? Anyway it would help to have a screenshot to see how it looks like.

    2. I’d like to change the font color only for the acceptance of the privacy policy below the contact form but I don’t know how to do…
Let’s assume your privacy policy text is like this: Ich habe die Datenschutzerklärung gelesen und erkläre mich damit einverstanden.
Then your code should be something like this and you should add a CSS class to it:
    HTML
<p class="font-color-datenschutz">Ich habe die Datenschutzerklärung gelesen und erkläre mich damit einverstanden.</p>
    Quick CSS

    .font-color-datenschutz {
    color: #ff0000;
    }

Of course you can name the class for the p tag however you want – this is just a sample, but it should work like that.

Best regards from a Swiss guy

in reply to: 4.4.1 to 4.5 Update #1027022

    Hi Neil

First of all: yes, the themeforest/Envato API changed. This is why you need to do the update manually either via plugin or FTP. I personally prefer FTP which works fine.

Please follow these steps to update your sites via FTP:
Without these permissions it will not work.
    11) Enter your generated Envato key in an incognito/private mode browser window. After revalidating your new private key within the Enfold update tab, you should see a blue rectangle saying when it could be checked for the last time.
    12) Done!

Please activate the child theme first.
If done, enter the Envato private key on your child theme – not the parent theme.

    In addition:
Did you set the permissions via Envato for your private key properly? If not, please check https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-registration

in reply to: problem update 4.5 failed #1026702

    Hi Andreea

Let me try to answer your questions here.

how does this impact my Enfold Child theme which I previously used?
It should not impact your child theme at all. Your uploaded Enfold theme is your parent theme and your child theme is separate, so the file you uploaded only affects your parent theme. You should activate your child them

Also, after installing, and after I get it activated do I have to generate a new API key from the themeforest platform?
Yes exactly, you need a different private key by Envato for every site. I recommend going to a private mode (incognito mode) window in your browser and do it there. This should work properly and you are all set afterwards.

And to introduce it again the the tab allocated for it..?
    Jep.

    Best,
    Michael

in reply to: Update failing #1026112

    Hey @limedrop

Let me answer your questions here.

But does that mean that the newest Enfold version this time has to be updated manually?
Yes exactly – either via a plugin to update the theme via zip file or via FTP. I recommend using FTP and did the update on several sites successfully by following this method.

Do we have to create unique api tolkens for every site?
Also correct. You need to generate a new, unique private token via Envato for every site and then insert it via your WordPress backend in the theme update tab.

Or is just one api tolken for Enfold enough?
No – see answer before. The token is from Envato (themeforest), not Enfold.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Michael

in reply to: PROBLEM IN UPDATING ENFOLD 4.4.1TO 4.5 VERSION #1026111

Raffaella – please go into incognito (private) mode in your browser and then try again.
This should work properly as Envato sets some cookies which sometimes makes it impossible to accept the key you have entered.

    Good luck,
    Michael

in reply to: update URL wrong? #1024836

    Hi perler

This happened to everybody, because Envato (themeforest) changed their API. Therefore the auto-update will not work in this case and you should update the theme manually via FTP.

Please follow this step by step guide I wrote for my case which might help you:
    11) After revalidating your new private key within the Enfold update tab, you should see a blue rectangle saying when it could be checked for the last time.
    12) Done!

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask me in case you need any assistance.

    Hi Toni

Please follow this step by step guide in order to update Enfold 4.4.1 to 4.5 manually via FTP. This is needed because Envato (themeforest) changed their API. Therefore auto update will not work.

    So here we go:
    1) Make a full backup of your website using a backup plugin.

    3) Sign out from your WordPress website.

Was genau funktioniert denn nicht? Bekommst du eine Fehlermeldung und wie lautet die?

    11) After revalidating your new private key within the Enfold update tab, you should see a blue rectangle saying when it could be checked for the last time.
    12) Done!

    I hope this helps!
Feel free to ask me in case you need any assistance.

    Best regards

    Hi Mike

Sorry my bad – I should mentioned earlier that I am using a child theme.
But woohoo, it worked nicely with that “little” snippet. Pretty huge function just for changing one string on one page, but it works which is why I am happy about it.

You may close this thread now please.

Thanks a lot and best regards

Found this string in all the language files in the lang folder.
Do I have to change it there and if yes, in which folder?

EDIT: The lang folder is a bit confusing to me anyway. I see .mo and .po files, but also one file called enfold.pot which is MS PowerPoint template?

Changed this one as well now – still no change.
No idea how you made this numbers in there. In my case, the default string just won’t change no matter what I write in the files of my child theme.

    Hi Mike

Thanks a lot! I just changed the label in all three files, emptied browser cache etc. – no change unfortunately.
Is this label hidden somewhere else?

    Best regards and thanks

    Liebe Gabriele

    Michael
