Yigit, I’m sorry! User name was incorrect. Had to change password when I was diagnosing issue. New info in private field. I used Filezilla and got it, but it does give you that server key error and you have to click OK… hope this helps and sorry again.
Hi Yigit, just click “OK” to accept the new server key. That just means the server key was updated since your last access.

OK I just had trouble replicating and realized I had the settings wrong to replicate. To replicate this in Chrome developer tools:
– Ipad Pro view
– 1366 x 1024 screen (use the little symbol next to “online” to rotate it)
– Refresh page (important)
– It will say “Please set a mobile fallback image…”Hope this helps!

RobI am sad to say I must agree. As one of the top 5 themes, Enfold should never have gotten to this stage. But I love the theme and really appreciate the help of the mods. I hope the development quality dramatically improves. The focus has been too much on creating new demos instead of improving functionality and stability of the current product. The former sells the first license, the latter sells licenses 2-100+.
Something really needs to change for me to continue trusting my sites to Enfold.

I was at a friend’s house and used her iPad pro and it displayed the “fallback image” error. It also does it on Chrome –> Developer Tools — > Ipad Pro Windows 10 Chrome Version Version 63.0.3239.132.
Let me know if you have trouble replicating and I can upload screenshots if that helps?

RobPS I assume Safari patch will come in a future update? I did not realize Safari was having issues displaying full screen video until I saw posts on the forum and then used my friend’s Apple laptop.
Saundra, I would talk to Go Daddy and escalate it… it definitely sounds to me like a server issue. As a former Go Daddy customer, I have to say that 99% of my problems went away when I switched to WP Engine, for what that’s worth.

I google “background video safari wordpress bug” and only got one current result, this one from a theme that released a patch to fix it back in October. Is this bug something devs are working on? Safari is a major browser platform so we really need this functionality.

I have found that the “read more” tag is not compatible with ALB but only works with the standard WordPress text editor. I’ll be curious if there’s a workaround.
Yigit, thanks. I will try that though I have no way to test Safari since I only have windows equipment. The bigger issue with this latest 4.2.2 for me is that the ipad pro view reverts to mobile screen and displays mobile fallback image instead of displaying the video the way it did in 4.1.2. I imagine this is a screen breakpoint issue that could be (easily?) fixed with a little css?

Something has really changed with Enfold. I have been a user for years now and pay the $50 every 6 months to be a member of this forum and take advantage of what is often great help. But the cadence of improvements has slowed down, and now just maintenance fixes cause all sorts of other issues….. and when they do, it now takes MONTHS to address them vs in the past we would see another release in a couple of days. A few months back I posted asking if Kriesi had a new little baby at home, just got married, was sick, and they said no everything is the same… but the blog is less active and it feels like Enfold has gone into auto pilot to an extent, which is sad because I still love this theme.
4.2.2 isn’t just a Safari issue… it breaks on iPad pro view on Windows chrome in development mode too. To take months to push out another fix, which still isn’t a fix, is just not acceptable by any measure.

To make this easier for a moderator to help fix this new problem introduced with 4.2.2:
4.1.2 Full screen mobile works great even on iPad pro (Chrome emulation mode + real iPad pro): 215 Locust Avenue
4.2.2 exact same page, no longer works in ipad pro and asks for fallback image: https://goo.gl/M9vNVXYes and I even tried the “controls are hidden” option which does not hide the controls and does not help. I worry that developers are just going to say “well, this is the new way it works” like they did with the mega menus and we will lose this functionality we had in 4.1.2. I hope this worry is unfounded.

When I have problems that appear and go away and appear again, it’s usually caused by a caching or optimization plugin, for what that’s worth. I finally had to uninstall Autoptimization plugin.

Really bummed that 4.2.2 did not fix everything! WOW.
Also the full screen mobile / video is on a new slider I just installed called Smart Slider 3… way better than Layer Slider. I plan to use that slider for a lot of many content going forward.
I can also confirm using Developer Tools in Chrome that the background video that used to work on iPad in landscape mode now no longer works and displays a “Please insert a background photo” tag where before it would show the video.

Oh no….. sorry to hear this. I am a Windows user so have no way to test Safari desktop…. sigh.
I’m using a Slider now to display full screen video on mobile and desktop but I don’t want to go back and rebuild old pages so I need the fix to work…

Actually, it was not the WP Update that caused it. Full screen video works fine with Enfold 4.1.2. and the latest version of WP. Something happened in 4.2 that broke it, and 4.2.2 fixed it thankfully.
I do wish they would have included the latest LayerSider update with 4.2.2…. I would love to have a week or two without the orange circle telling me to update! :)

I now realize by clicking “jobs” above that our beloved mods are independent contractors from around the world. I had always thought they were sitting in the same office in Europe sharing information with each other (Rikard: “Hey Yigit, can you get me a cup of coffee when you go out??”haha) but from the disparate information from the mods on this issue in multiple threads that is not the case.
Kriesi, if you’re watching this thread, you can do better. My suggestion is a sticky post for any KNOWN ISSUE with a release “Subject: KNOWN ISSUE Enfold V4.2.1” with the latest status there that everyone can see including mods. It should not allow posting from users as then it just turns into a support thread. We’ve seen other sticky threads go “off the rails” due to that. That would save mod time because fewer threads would be opened discussing the same, known issue.
The patch that someone from Enfold (Gunter?) installed on my staging site did fix the full screen video bug but broke the video element in ALB completely. I hope that is not the fix that is coming in 4.2.2 or else the poor mods are going to have a LOT of threads to respond to. And Yigit, Rikard will really need his coffee then! :)

I am trying to maintain my patience reading all these threads about this issue, but the mis-information among the mods is astounding on this issue. Do you guys have some sort of forum where you can share info with each other? I know you’re spread all over the world so information sharing must be difficult. Trying to understand.
In other threads, another mod has said that they forgot the video fix in 4.2.1, and I can attest it did nothing to fix my issue with full screen video, and I’m not using Safari, I’m using Chrome. We have waited MONTHS for a fix to something that should never have broken in the first place, with the release of 4.2.
4.1.2 is the only stable version of Enfold at this point, meaning all the functions including the video function work.
Come on, Enfold, you can do better than this.

Hi… OK this is getting funny (ha ha funny)….. that thread is mine…. see my response there. The “fix” fixes the full screen video issue but BREAKS the video element in ALB! If you guys put that in 4.2.2 the forum is going to be overwhelmed with people complaining, since the video element of ALB is likely much more used than the full screen slider….
I’ll stick to the other thread, feel free to join me over there.

RobThanks this code was implemented on my site today by Enfold mods and while it fixed the full screen video bug, it created a new bug where videos called by the ALB media / video element no longer work.

Unfortunately, while the patch fixes one problem is causes a new one… now the page above works great will full screen (YAY THANKS!), but my page with a Youtube video posted with a video element under ALB non full screen no longer works and I have not touched that page on staging site.
All the pages that feature Youtube video in video element on ALB now display error message instead of video.See links in private content.
