Hi guys, thanks for your help! Yigit you need to charge your phone from that screenshot, ha ha! :)
Maybe this is user error on my part. I am trying to have the background highlight when the cursor points at it to be a slightly darker shade of white / tan as right now on the production site it is pretty much invisible.
On staging site, I went into advanced styling –> Main menu sub level inks and then changed the background color to a bright pink just to check to see if it was working… and then ticked the box “apply only to mouse hover state” however that makes the entire menu the bright pink. How do I just get the mouse hover state highlight to change to a slightly darker tan so it’s visible?
Thanks!!

You are the expert on Enfold… I’m not sure what to do. Why doesn’t it change in Enfold settings?
Thanks!!
Rob
That is precisely why I moved to self-hosted video… I ran into the same problem. Youtube prioritizes page load over quality, so I found even on a 250 mbps connection, the first few seconds were pixelated while the video played and loaded simultaneously. The only way I could get around it was to self-host the video, which does eat up bandwidth. Now I am using a hybrid of that, self-hosting a small 12 MB video compressed with Handbrake, and an option to play the Youtube video in a lightbox…. this however requires a slider plugin. I’m using Smart Slider, not sure if you can do it with Layerslider. You can see an example here: http://www.thomashenthorne.com/65-los-ranchitos-road/

Maybe about 20% darker than it is now? I have tried in settings but it does not seem to change.
Thanks!
RobPS By highlight color, I mean the color that the sub menu item turns when the cursor is pointing at it, just to be clear.

Sure thing… posting below in private content. I have also let the FVM plugin author know that with the latest few updates Enfold has become less compatible with his plugin, and he said he would take a look at it. I know a lot of users use Autoptimize, but that one started causing issues for me a few months ago so I switched to FVM.

RobThanks, Victoria, I’ll give that a try!

RobHey Trent, once you build a slider with your video / etc, you just use a shortcode inside a text box like this:
[smartslider3 slider=24]
There’s also a button that’s added to the control bar (where bold, font selection etc appear) and you can choose from the available sliders you have built.
Their support is via email and is insanely fast. They also have a very active Facebook page with lots of Q&A. I have NO CONNECTION to them besides being a very happy customer and loving how it works with Enfold.
Cheers
RobWelcome back vinay! We missed you!
This answer keeps being given but it’s no longer true. Video is NOT disabled on mobile, as evidenced here if you access on mobile:
http://www.thomashenthorne.com/65-los-ranchitos-road/
This is done with the Smart Slider 3 plugin and it works great as long as the video is hyper compressed for mobile, ideally only 9 MB or so. If over 20 MB it will default to a fallback image.
In the United States, unlimited mobile data plans are becoming the norm, and auto-play video is quickly going to become the norm as well.
Hope this helps.

Given all the issues with 4.2.4, it seems like it would be a good idea for Enfold to pull this update, fix them and publish whatever changes in 4.2.5….
I think that’s a different issue… if the pages won’t open at all for editing with Yoast turned on, he has a plugin or PHP version issue or something…
Yoast and Enfold are 100% compatible, however there are certain analysis functions around the content in the ALB that don’t work with Yoast. For example it will report you haven’t used your keyword in the first paragraph of copy when it is in fact in the first paragraph. I ignore that and just make sure the keyword is there.February 27, 2018 at 11:07 pm in reply to: Enfold 4.2.4 Video Bug Back…. ALB Youtube Element Not Working #918702OK will do.

(ok to close)February 27, 2018 at 9:46 pm in reply to: Enfold 4.2.4 Video Bug Back…. ALB Youtube Element Not Working #918652OK thanks… so does that mean we will need to apply it to production once 4.2.5 rolls out next week? I don’t see it in quick css… is it in functions.php or did you somehow sneak that plugin in there?? (ha ha ha!)

RobFebruary 27, 2018 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Enfold 4.2.4 Video Bug Back…. ALB Youtube Element Not Working #918633Hi Yigit!
Thanks very much…. but NOW THE VIDEO IS UPSIDE DOWN??????
OK just joking! :) I can’t figure out what you did but it looks like a different URL and is specific to that page since the videos on other pages are still broken.
At this point I’m going to just forget 4.2.4 ever existed, leave 4.2.3 on my production site, and wait with hope on 4.2.5 that it introduces new features without breaking current features of the theme. I see no reason to worry about 4.2.4 since it doesn’t add anything I can notice to the user experience.
Just paid to extend my support another 6 months with you guys… I’ve now spent more on support than I ever did on the theme! ha ha

robFebruary 27, 2018 at 7:52 pm in reply to: Enfold 4.2.4 Video Bug Back…. ALB Youtube Element Not Working #918618PS I did try that plugin, and it does indeed prevent related videos from being shown, but this plugin hasn’t been updated in more than a year and I am concerned that it’s just one more plugin to cause conflicts and slow the site down. The first thing you guys ask us to do when there’s an issue with our sites is to disable the plugins… and there’s a good reason for that. As you know, the more plugins the more potential for conflicts.
It should not be necessary when an update rolls out on Enfold for us to install plugins to maintain basic video functionality. I really hope you can find out what changed between 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 and make sure that 4.2.5 corrects this….

robFebruary 27, 2018 at 7:44 pm in reply to: Enfold 4.2.4 Video Bug Back…. ALB Youtube Element Not Working #918613Hi Yigit,
Why doesn’t this problem occur in 4.2.3? As you can see from my link, the rel=0, which prevents “related videos” from being shown when the user hits pause, does not cause a problem on the same page running Enfold 4.2.4. Instead of adding yet another plugin, I would like to be able use Enfold’s video element and not have to go back and change pages that were already built and working fine.
Can you find out what changed here between 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 and correct it that way instead? :)
Thanks!

RobFebruary 27, 2018 at 7:17 am in reply to: Latest theme update – Color Section – background video fails #918239i don’t know css but it seems like a lot of fixes lately require this .mejs-container code…. is there something that should be added to the theme so we don’t need to keep adding this to quick css?
Please do, thanks!
(and yes, the staging site plus the nightly backup from WP Engine has saved my butt multiple times…. in my old Go Daddy days I was constantly crashing my site with updates, Yoast in particular, and now I am able to test plugin / theme updates without disrupting the production site.)
Hi Mike,
Thanks much…I think at this point I’ll go with option #3 and not update to 4.2.4 on the production site since I don’t see any tangible user experience differences from 4.2.3.
The tease about the future release has me intrigued! Will that be the 4.2.5 release or a big 5.0?
Thank for persisting here and not just closing the thread on the first post with a “plugin conflict.”
Cheers!
Rob
Hi Mike,
I added all the js files on the log for that page to the exclusions list, and even added the css files… the page still won’t load in incognito mode. There’s something in there that I saw on the changelog for this release about “Magnific Popup Lightbox” which I don’t know what that is… could that update in 4.2.4 of the Lightbox somehow be affecting this page load? Thanks for continuing to try to help here… I know this thread has grown to epic proportions.
Thanks,
RobHi Mike, that sounds good…. looking forward to those updates. I think? ha ha. Recently the updates have been causing me headaches… :)
Do you know the path I could exclude of the js for the slider? Something in the format of:
/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/static/layerslider/js/greensock.jsIdeally I would like to exclude this js for Full Screen slider vs. for the entire site. I tried the below and several other js file on that page but could not isolate the one that’s crashing:
/wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/avia-footer-scripts-51bd723933befe683d1d5abe554ef146.jsThanks!!!
RobHi Mike, thanks…. I appreciate your continuing to dig into this. I’m bummed that this new release means I have to eliminate more js from processing… and given that the larger picture of the next few updates seems to be to re-work js and make the theme more efficient <?> I’m wondering if at some point I’m going to need to disable minifcation etc… ?
I’m on the road today but should have some time tomorrow to work on this… please keep this thread open for now. Thanks!
Rob
On the Fullscreen Slider options, if I choose “hidden” controls instead of “default” controls, the controls don’t hide, but the video does start working. Given that there’s erratic behavior with the Fullscreen Slider, and this has been an issue on and off since last October, AND this just popped up with this week’s 4.2.4 upload, I think it’s not the minify plugin. There’s something else going on here. Can you ask the developers to take a look? Or?
Hi mike yes I identified that in the post above. But there was no conflict until this version of Enfold…. what changed ? Possible to fix ? Thanks
Hey mike that’s the home page….
Hi Mike,
On my end, the black just stays on the screen… video never shows. I’m using Chrome in incognito mode. There is no circle spinner to indicate loading….
Are you seeing something different? Can you try Chrome incognito?
Thanks much,
RobHi Mike!
Thank you for persisting on this one. I think the issue is Fast Velocity Minify Plugin, which has worked great with Enfold up until 4.2.4. Once I activate this plugin, the video just goes to black screen. Can you please take a look at the staging site again with the plugin activated?
Thanks!
Rob007 As I stated above, the css did not fix it. Please allow the mods to work this issue from here on out.
Thanks and best regards
007 Noted with thanks.
Mods, next steps please? Are you able to replicate this? Do you want credentials to log into my staging site? Actually I’ll go ahead and insert them in private content…. see below for login.
MP4… and again it worked on 4.2.3 so something the developers did broke it in 4.2.4.
007 I noticed that on your demo page it is not full screen video as there is a header… try hiding the header to see if problem replicates on 4.2.4..?
Mods, next steps please…. Thanks. Once again we have an update I can’t push to production because it breaks current video functionality. Thanks
