Hi all,
Thanks for your help! But never mind, I found the issue. We were using a plugin called “Ultimate WooCommerce Auction Plugin” and as soon as it was disabled the issue went away.
I’ll let you know if anything else changes.
Thanks,
LeydenThank you Günter for adding this to the list of feature requests and bug fixes.
It seems to me that all the replies here on how to fix it and how there is nothing wrong with it misses the point to a major part of Enfold users who are not web developers. As they use the gallery and enter captions into the field that says they should enter a caption and then they don’t work. It’s a major problem.
Another point I would make as I made before, we launched many websites for clients using Enfold where this field worked just fine and it even used the captions input from the images. IT WAS CHANGED at some point and ALL our client sites were broken. We had to go through everything and change the caption info to the Title field in the image.
If this had always worked in the current way, we would not have launched so many websites using that field to enter captions or using the caption field from the images.
I hope this gets fixed. Thank you.
Hi all,
I have a video in the video player that is muted when autoplay is selected. How can I unmute this is the functions?
Thanks,
LeydenSame issue.
@Yigit that fixed it for now. Thanks!April 3, 2020 at 9:45 pm in reply to: Woocommerce change shopping cart icon to different icon #1200648That worked perfectly!
Thank you, Victoria

I understand all this, thank you. By “core feature” what do you mean? WordPress core or Enfold core? Also, please point me to where I can find any tutorial or information about this problem if I was a new user. I know how to fix it now and I’m a little more advanced them other users. Do you want all new users to go looking for this thread because the theme doesn’t work correctly?
There is no info here at all about this caption issue:
And in this tutorial which you recommend, has NOTHING about captioning your images and how to make sure you do it right. The video talks about how amazing the gallery is for your photography, and completely misses one of the biggest features for photographers.
I’m just wondering if this is something that users will find misleading and frustrating. As a new user who adds a new gallery, I see the theme show me nice inputs under the images that say “Image Caption.” So you’re telling me as a new user once this doesn’t work I have to go looking all over the internet for why it doesn’t work?
With such an important feature, is it not important to fix?
Thanks,
LeydenHello,
I’m checking in on this after updating to ALL your recent updates running Enfold 4.7.4. At the link below, I show another set of images documenting how when uploading images to the masonry gallery, I enter the captions in the field provided by Enfold for captions. When I view the masonry gallery, the captions are not displayed, only the title is displayed.
See documentation:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bqiitp1mz75jynh/AABeX779m6T0gIKEjDr7HN_Ua?dl=0From a user who buys the theme and uses this masonry gallery and enters captions, this would be incredibly frustrating. Why do you continue to provide a field for captions if they don’t display? If you don’t plan to fix it, please remove it or make it pull the image title which is what it’s doing now.
This continues to support my claim above that this was changed sometime 4 or 5 versions ago breaking all websites done previously.
I hope I can help you fix this by showing you this problem for any new Enfold user.
Thanks
Hi Jordan,
It there a specific file we should alter?
Thanks,
LeydenMarch 19, 2020 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Enfold chrashing site by generating huge php logfile #1194449So disable both CSS and Javascript compression. Would this be best, or should we use the functions.php script?
March 17, 2020 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Enfold chrashing site by generating huge php logfile #1193900Having the same issue. Hosting company email about this problem. Here is what the email said:
“We’ve detected an issue on one of your websites that requires urgent attention. It looks like the site’s theme (Enfold) is causing quite a bit of havoc in terms of spitting out a large number of PHP errors at a rapid pace that’s taking up disk space on the server.
The errors appear to be in reference to avia-head-scripts, some sort of internal reference within the theme. Taking a look through the theme developer’s website, it looks like there have been a few people running into this issue within the last week or so. It doesn’t look like they’ve released a patch to fix it up as of yet, however, it’d be worth shooting off a support request.”

Hi,
I updated to the latest version also and the social icons are missing still. Has this been fixed and tested? Is this a priority at all?
Thanks,

All I need is to simply have access to the image Caption using Lightbox with PhotoSwipe. But it seems the masonry widget does not allow access to this info from any plugin.
Thanks
Hi all,
It’s amazing to me that this thread has over 30 comments now about the captions not working with the Masonry Gallery and nothing was fixed in the latest update. I provided images, illustrations, comparisons and multiple case studies and tests showing the problem. All that was done is a post about how to “hack” the problem which still doesn’t fix the issue.
So I tried using a third party plugin called Lightbox with PhotoSwipe. This plugin has a feature called: “Get the image CAPTIONS from the database (this may cause delays on slower servers)”. This has worked with other websites using a different builder. But it DOES NOT work with Enfold. The Masonry Gallery cripples any attempt at getting the CAPTIONS. Not the TITLE, but the CAPTIONS.
I pointing out that even in your own Masonry Gallery, THE CAPTION SECTION DOES NOT WORK. When you add images, you can rearrange them and enter captions. These captions don’t show up in the Lightbox because the Lightbox is only pulling the Title of the image.
This problem doesn’t exist in the Gallery widget, only in the Masonry Gallery.
If this is not something anyone cares about, can you at least allow other plugins to access the CAPTIONS to the image? Please?!
Thank you.
I’m sorry, but I’m having a really hard time understanding the team’s logic in making changes to the Avia builder that your users will need to change on every single post. After creating hundreds of posts, this is super upsetting.
For example, you added a feature to the masonry gallery to disable the animation. But you didn’t include it to disable the animations across the entire website or for ALL masonry animations. Now all your users who helped make Enfold a success after purchasing the theme and using it are FORCED to go back to everything one-by-one and make adjustments. Or continue to rely on hacking the theme’s functions or CSS.
If you are interested only in new users, you can create a yearly subscription to fix these short-sided decisions. This way, you think of your new users as well as your current users who have been using the theme for a long time—like us.
Again, we have a major problem and you want us to go one-by-one across so many websites to fix it. How can you seriously propose this when I have said over and over how many masonry galleries exist? Not a single programmer out there would consider this a good solution.
I understand it works by enabling the masonry title and excerpt and adding the code. The problem is that I have hundreds of galleries across many clients websites. Going to every single gallery and enabling the title and excerpt is rediculous and not feasible. I need to be able to do one of three things:
1. Install a new Lightbox plugin to display the caption taken from the WP caption media field like this used to do (which I’ve tried and doesn’t work).
or
2. Add a function to make the Masonry Gallery use the WP caption media field WITHOUT enabling something in every single gallery.
or
3. You all fix this for future releases.Thanks
I added the Enfold Gallery element under the current Enfold Masonry Gallery element. The structure is the same, but one imports the Caption and the other does not. The Gallery element works fine. How can I have the Masonry Gallery get the Caption like the Gallery element is doing?
Gallery (notice the long Caption field being used):
<figcaption>
<div class=”mfp-bottom-bar”>
<div class=”mfp-title”>Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. A Fragmented Casba, 2016. Wood, foam, fiberglass, metal, concrete, marble. Site specific installation at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens for Lost Spaces centennial exhibition, dimensions variable.</div>
<div class=”mfp-counter”>1 / 7</div>
</div>
</figcaption>Masonry Gallery (only title field being used):
<figcaption>
<div class=”mfp-bottom-bar”>
<div class=”mfp-title”>Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. A Fragmented Casba, 2016.</div>
<div class=”mfp-counter”>7 / 56</div>
</div>
</figcaption>The js has been updated with this. It doesn’t work.
Again, you should look at fixing the Gallery Edit section in the Masonry Gallery that doesn’t work since the captions enter there don’t show: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kms4of37v9ldjqq/2016-entry-caption.jpg?dl=0
Can anyone provide the js fix for this issue? We really need to pull the captions from the WordPress Media section for each image.
Is there another fill we need to edit to pull this info?
Thanks
Can anyone help fix this across all Masonry Galleries by adjusting the js above?
Can anyone make the change to the Masonry Gallery feature so it works with your own caption field inside the Edit Gallery popup?
Copied the file to a js folder in the Child Theme, changed “Title” to “Caption” and nothing. It does not work.
I understand this new change and that it’s coming from the title. But I have shown you in the linked documentation that the caption field in the Edit Gallery pop-up for the Masonry Gallery DOES NOT WORK. So please do not say that this was always like this. It was not. People using this and adding the captions will be confused since it doesn’t work! Why do you still have a caption field that doesn’t work? Will this be fixed?
This linked image shows that it was set-up as I describe it. This linked image is a Masonry Gallery from 2016! It has been working fine since 2016. Checked and double-checked by the client and us before we launch the website. Only recently, it has changed. You can see the caption field with a real caption in it and then you can see the Title displaying in the Lightbox. This is a huge mistake!
Now I’m trying another Lightbox plugin on a different website to fix this problem, and you’re telling me it will not work with anything?
See Image:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kms4of37v9ldjqq/2016-entry-caption.jpg?dl=0Well, I added a new Lightbox plugin: Lightbox with PhotoSwipe, and deactivated the Enfold default Lightbox. It still doesn’t get the captions.
This new plugin literally has a feature to get the Captions field in the WordPress Media section from the database: “Get the image captions from the database (this may cause delays on slower servers).”
It doesn’t work.
What interesting is this plugin is being used elsewhere and it pulls the Captions just fine.
In order to fix this across the board, how can I disable the Enfold lightbox feature and use another lightbox? This seems like the only way.
Thanks
Okay, thanks.
Do you all see how this is a major issue? The documentation I provided show’s it doesn’t work with the current Avia page builder Gallery Editor. So when you are entering captions in the gallery editor, they don’t work because of the use of the title instead.
So new users will add captions and see they don’t work, and old users (like us) with many websites using Enfold have to go back through hundreds of galleries clients created to make these changes?
This puts us in a really bad spot. Who decided that Titles should be Caption? Even if you look at the WordPress media fields, you can see the Title field is only one line and the Caption field is multi-line. It’s even called Caption! If you’re a photographer or any other person, you’re going to understand what a caption is. They normally go with photos. This is why WordPress uses captions for images.
Since we now have hundreds of galleries that are not functioning correctly, and clients are voicing their displeasure, which makes us look pretty bad. Is there any interest in fixing this, or should we get someone to fixed your mistake?
Thank you,
LeydenThat’s great but there is one step above that leads me to believe that it has to be done for all galleries.
“We set the gallery to display the title and the excerpt and applied the masonry content to the title attribute using the script provided”
This suggests that all galleries must be set this way.
Thanks,
LeydenAlso, is this something that needs to be done to all the galleries individually?
Where did you add @guenni007 script? I had added it to the fuctions.php. Did you add it somewhere else?
Thanks.
