I have recently updated my WordPress to version 5.0 and Enfold parent theme to 4.5.1. I use the Advances Layout Editor.
If I edit any text block on any page (even a text block with only one word in it), I get the entire code for the whole the page in the editor window. I switch to “text” mode and I see that the Avia code is in there when it should just be text. Always starts with:
Here is a screenshot of the text block editor:
I can’t update any page without corrupting the page code! HELP!

December 7, 2018 at 8:51 pm #1042203Following this… I am having the same issues..
December 7, 2018 at 9:06 pm #1042207Everyone does…. I posted this last night…. Amazed that Enfold support is silent on this as thread after thread is posted… this should be a sticky, and they should stop everyone from updating to WordPress 5.0 until this is sorted out.
December 7, 2018 at 9:09 pm #1042208I wish I saw this post before I updated, having the same problem, will also follow this thread.
This problem occurs when I try to add text block with the Avia Layout builder to a page I constructed 2 weeks ago
Seems like there is no solution as of yet?

December 7, 2018 at 9:11 pm #1042209Nope… it’s been 14 hours since I first posted about this and was the first to post about WP 5.0 and Enfold problems, and no response from mods.
A “We are aware of the issues with WordPress 5.0 and Enfold, and are working on a solution. In the meantime do not update your sites to WordPress 5.0” would be an easy sticky to add.
December 7, 2018 at 9:21 pm #1042211hm – maybe you should look to your post to see : https://kriesi.at/support/topic/wordpress-5-0-enfold-4-5-1-alb-problems-loading-elements/#post-1041951
Look to the bold on bottom
open existing Enfold ALB Pages – first update the page – then your conent is working as before and can be edited
December 7, 2018 at 9:23 pm #1042212007 I see that workaround, and haven’t tried it… my site has many pages, and I also fear that if there’s a problem “under the hood of the car” that may appear to fix it while corrupting something else. I’m waiting for the mods / developers to weigh in on a fix, which should be 4.5.2….
It’s not urgent – just my staging site – but the number of threads is incredible.
Happy Holidays to you!
Best
RobDecember 7, 2018 at 9:25 pm #1042213Those existing pages all work on frontend. If you need to edit an existing page first update it then edit – thats all.
So no need to do it for all existing pages only for those you like to edit.December 7, 2018 at 9:49 pm #1042220I downgraded my WordPress to version 4.9.8 using the WP Downgrade plugin and everything is now working the way it did before. It’s a shame this is not working out of the box.
I can’t blame Enfold for this, it’s more of a WordPress issue. WordPress finally gets on board with developing a better editor only to have it not behave with others. I’m sure this will eventually get sorted out, but until then I’m sticking with an old version of WordPress. Not my favorite solution, but it works for now.
Would love to hear from someone at Enfold to chime in with an official workaround or update.
December 8, 2018 at 6:52 pm #1042519WordPress for its own has over 1500 issues. It is nothing new for many, many years now, that it is not a clever idea, to upgrade to a major release! YOAST and others companies have warned for weeks to upgrade to WP 5.0, instead waiting for 5.0.1 in probably January!
Concerning ENFOLD, I agree Guenni007, his solution works fine so far.
December 9, 2018 at 3:15 am #1042641Same issue here using WP 5 and Enfold 4.2…
Scary!Used ‘WP Downgrade | Specific Core Version’ plugin to go back to WP 4.9.8 and the issue has disappeared.

December 9, 2018 at 5:14 am #1042650Hi BennuFoundation,
Enfold 4.2 won’t work with WordPress 5.0 unfortunately, you would have to update the theme to 4.5.1. https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update. Please note that you might have to delete the old version before you upload the new one in order for it to install properly, or use a plugin like this in order to upload the new zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/.

RikardDecember 9, 2018 at 11:23 am #1042709Following this thread too… At least, Text Block Editor doesn’t work for me (shows blank content)… WP Downgrade has been used, but Text Block still doesn’t work… (
December 9, 2018 at 8:57 pm #1042809If you install the classic editor plugin, all problems are solved.
December 10, 2018 at 5:15 am #1042890Hi,
Thanks for helping out @goldengate415, did you try that plugin out and did you have any luck with it @DimaP
Also please read this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/updating-to-wordpress-v5-please-read/
