September 1, 2019 at 4:06 am #1132608Hey Noucky,
Sorry for the problem. Could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.6) to see if that helps please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update. If that doesn’t help then please post admin login details in private so that we can have a closer look.
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 3, 2019 at 9:17 am #1133277Sadly this update didn’t help us. I’ve used another plugin to solve the problem.
I think its due to the fact that I don’t know where to verify our instagram account so it’s connected and can give us valid data. Could this be correct?September 5, 2019 at 10:19 am #1134276Hey!
Thank you for the update.
Yes, that must be the issue. Honestly, we are not really sure why the widget is not returning the valid data and we didn’t know that you have to verify your account now, so thanks for the info.
Please try to verify your identity in your instagram account first. This might help.

IsmaelSeptember 7, 2019 at 10:10 am #1135286Is there a fix to this yet? It doesn’t seem that you can verify your account unless your a celebrity.
September 9, 2019 at 8:52 am #1135837I’m using a third party plugin untill the proble is solved. The only way to solve this is to implement extra code that leads you to verify your instagram account via the widget/plugin of Enfold. Dear Kriesi please inform us when you’ve done that :)
Have a great day!
September 9, 2019 at 11:42 am #1135918Hi!
It doesn’t seem that you can verify your account unless your a celebrity.
We are not actually sure if being unverified is related to the issue, at least not yet. Temporarily, you can use one of the following plugins.
// https://wordpress.org/plugins/instagram-feed/
// https://wordpress.org/plugins/wd-instagram-feed/Cheers!
IsmaelSeptember 17, 2019 at 3:16 am #1138975I fixed it by updating my php to 7.1, installing the latest Enfold theme from a couple days ago 4.6.2, then waited 30 minutes for the updated php version to kick in and then went back to the widget to “reset” it by selecting to get photos, etc. from the cache on my server, saved then went back and selected directly from instagram and saved.
HOWEVER, when I’m logged in, above the feed it still gives the “invalid data warning….” but after another 15 – 45 minutes and that disappeared too.
It’s taking forever for the next site to update, but I’ll post back if I have trouble with it. So far, the other site is still connecting fine.

September 17, 2019 at 6:14 am #1139010Update. I can’t get the other site to work at all, still getting the “invalid data” warning.
The 1st site is back to saying when I’m logged in – above the feed “invalid data” warning again too.
Sure wish this would work, I’ve spent hours trying to get this to work, and I don’t think ya’ll are going to want to go to 20 of my sites to fix it.
Thanks!
September 19, 2019 at 9:14 am #1139812Hi,
Sorry for the troubles. Unfortunately, we haven’t figured out why the widget is not working in a few installations. Please use the plugins suggested above for now.
Best regards,
IsmaelOctober 17, 2019 at 12:18 am #1148726I can verify that I have this issue as well at https://www.madisonfashionmagazine.com.au/.
When I first Googled it I found this thread here at Kriesi. Is this a valid solution?
It’s from 2018, a little bit old, so I dug deeper and found this post and thread. If the other solution is not valid maybe a note should be added? I was just about to try it.
October 18, 2019 at 7:22 am #1149140Hi,
The solution in that thread will not work. Instagram now requires users to be properly authenticated in order to access the API. Unfortunately, this authentication flow is not yet added in the theme. You will have to use the plugins suggested above for now.

November 5, 2019 at 10:48 am #1153928Hi griswoldcleveland,
Sorry for the problem. No updates unfortunately, but we are working on correcting this in the next release of the theme.

RikardMarch 3, 2020 at 2:09 am #1189552Hello, can you please provide an update? When can we expect this issue to be resolved? This is a key feature of the theme and I have lots of sites using it. Would be a huge headache to switch them all over to a plugin.
Thank you!
March 3, 2020 at 9:04 am #1189627Yea, need help with this too.
March 4, 2020 at 9:31 am #1189974Hi,
Thank you for the inquiry.
The instagram widget is going to be removed in the latest version of the theme and we will instead provide a native integration of the Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed plugin, in which you will be required to generate a new access token in order to use the plugin properly. Please check the page below.
// https://smashballoon.com/instagram-feed/token/
// https://smashballoon.com/updating-your-instagram-access-token/You will have to use the actual plugin for now.
// https://wordpress.org/plugins/instagram-feed/

IsmaelApril 24, 2020 at 9:35 am #1206751Dear Ismael:
when will the new native integration be active? I have the same ‘Instagram has returned invalid data’ issue as well.
Thanks
MagnusApril 26, 2020 at 6:37 am #1207183Hi Magnus,
