Hi,
To manually update the theme via FTP, look for the “enfold” folder at /wp-content/themes/enfold/ and rename to “enfold-old” then upload the new version as the folder “enfold”
Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
Once you have cleared your browser cache and tested that your site is working correctly, you can delete the old folder “enfold-old”.
If for some reason you want to go back to the old version, simply remove the new folder and change the name of “enfold-old” back to “enfold”
If you would like help with this, Please open a new thread, and include your admin login and ftp login in the Private Content area, but as this is not your thread your login info will not be private if posted here.
Please post the link to your new thread here so I can quickly find it.Best regards,

January 8, 2019 at 6:14 am #1051194Hi,
@Brightfame you can easily update your sites with a free plugin: Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File
For step by step instructions on how to use it please see this post
You can go to your Theme Forest account and download the “Installable WordPress file only” zip file.

MikeJanuary 10, 2019 at 1:10 pm #1052324Hello: following problem:
1) I downloaded new copy from envato
2) unzipped and uploaded via ftp to my server. Version according to style.css: Version: 4.5.2
3) I uppdated Child style.css via FTP
4) generated new token and inputted it under “theme update” in my child theme
->Webseite works fine.
5) I checked the updater of child theme. It is saying: “A new Version (4.5.2) of your Parent Theme (Enfold) is available! You are using Version 4.4.1.
See what’s new in change log. Do you want to update?” (i.e.: somehow it still thinks we are on 4.4.1)
6) Updating over the button creates the following error message: “Beim Aktualisieren von Enfold ist ein Fehler aufgetreten: Download fehlgeschlagen. Es wurde keine gültige URL übermittelt.” (=Failure due to invalid URL)Not the biggest issue however updating should work once 4.5.2 is installed, shouldnt it?
January 10, 2019 at 1:40 pm #1052327Hi,
@muuclemens
It sounds like you didn’t update the parent theme, but the child theme instead.
We will have to take a look to be sure, Please open a new thread so we can assist, and include your admin login & FTP access in the Private Content area, but as this is not your thread your login info will not be private if posted here.
If you updated the child theme style.css as stated above, do you have a backup of the style.css file, of did it not contain any custom css?Best regards,
MikeJanuary 10, 2019 at 1:48 pm #1052330Hi Mike:
the style.css is empty in this case, it only contains the version. And I didn’t load into the child folder, its the parent’s folder.
Currently my impression is, I made any mistake with the envato token. New Thread: is this possible for me (last sale was 8 months back)?January 10, 2019 at 2:50 pm #1052338Hi,
@muuclemens You will need to update the parent theme with the Enfold v4.5.2 update, that is from within FTP you need to delete the parent theme “enfold” then upload the new theme folder via ftp. If you do this then the updater will show that you have the latest version v4.5.2
You will not be using the updater to update, you will be doing it manually with ftp.You can also do it this way with ftp:
via FTP, look for the “enfold” folder at /wp-content/themes/enfold/ and rename to “enfold-old” then upload the new version as the folder “enfold”
Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
Once you have cleared your browser cache and tested that your site is working correctly, you can delete the old folder “enfold-old”.
If for some reason you want to go back to the old version, simply remove the new folder and change the name of “enfold-old” back to “enfold”As for if you can create a new thread, I assume so since you are posting to this thread, please give it a try.
Best regards,
MikeJanuary 10, 2019 at 3:04 pm #1052342Hi Mike:
everything fine: I did what you recommanded (which I believed do have done in the same way before). Anyway: This time it worked. Even the token works and delivers the correct version. Thx + br ClemensJanuary 11, 2019 at 1:01 am #1052545January 14, 2019 at 6:29 pm #1053760Hi,

@jam62 when you tried “to update the theme as a ZIP file” did you use the Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File plugin?
What error did you get?
The top reason that might not work is the PHP Post Max Size or
PHP Max Upload Size is smaller than 17mb that the enfold.zip file is, please ensure these are at least 20mb
Your webhost can assist in checking these settings.
Another reason could be because you are uploading the full themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme.zip file that contains all of the extra files, please only upload the enfold.zip inside the full zip file. Please note that if you update via FTP, you will need to remove the old theme folder “enfold” first (via FTP) then upload the new “enfold” folder at /wp-content/themes/enfold/
Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.Best regards,

@sdsurid500 thanks for the FTP access, but when I check your theme I find that it is already v4.5.2
were you able to update, or did I misunderstand?
If you still need help, please also include admin login, and explain a little more.Best regards,
MikeJanuary 24, 2019 at 7:00 pm #1058304Thanks for your help, I followed your suggestion to use the update by .zip plugin and it worked perfectly. Thanks!
PaulJanuary 24, 2019 at 7:44 pm #1058319I see that Enfold Version 4.5.3 was released on January 22nd. I am offered the download file “themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip”. Is that correct?
January 24, 2019 at 7:47 pm #1058322I have validated my token but it is not going out to grab the newest 4.5.3 update automatically. Is this not the whole reason for the token? Please advise….
January 24, 2019 at 8:14 pm #1058329I installed the plugin, then I went to my envato account and got the enfold theme, but when I try to upload it I get this message:
The link you followed has expired. I’ve been through a lot of time. I tried two ways
1. I have only downloaded the theme ((Purchase code hidden if disconnected) -theme-wordpress-theme.zip)
2. I tried again this time to “download all files and documentation”, unzip it and try uploading just “enfold.zip”
Could it be that they want to buy another license? I use the theme in more than one site and bought it a long time ago. Right now I’ve installed 4.41 on this site.January 25, 2019 at 9:14 am #1058565Hi Lambrosgi,
Please open a new thread and include admin login details and FTP login details in private if you need help with updating. Also please verify that you have backups of the site in case something should go wrong.
Best regards,
