    Hello

I have seen the same message already before the update. I think to remember that it has been displayed in Wordfence.
Should I still update through ftp?

    Regards
    Thomas

I have provided you with the credentials. I verified the login using “Fetch” ftp client.
You may deactivate the plugins for a few minutes but please don’t leave Wordfence or Mail deactivated for very long.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi,

it sounds like your website got hacked, so I would scan it for detecting any viruses. In the future use a good anti virus plugin (Wordfence etc.).

    Best regards,
    Andy

I have updated Enfold theme but I am still seeing update indicator on sites saying I need plugin updated. I have ftp’d files thinking that would clear it up but it continues to show…needs updating..and Wordfence doesn’t recognize the update has been done.
    Any solution?

    #791232

Hi Victoria, sorry for the late response was waiting for the new update to see if it would fix the issue but it hasn’t come out yet. I have re uploaded new wordpress files through ftp. I have re uploaded new enfold files through ftp. I am running php 7.1.1 and have tried deactivating and reactivating plugins. I have also checked config file and debug is not on. Like I said before, it is weird because I am getting these warning messages on this site and a few others but not some other sites, which are all on the same hosting company. Using the same plugins for the most part. Wordfence, WPRocket, Yoast SEO Premium and so forth. I have attached screen shots of what is going on so maybe you can get a better idea.

    Good morning,

I’m devastated! Those are my login credentials and for me they work perfectly fine. Is there a way to solve the pending problem via FTP?
I’m not sure why it is not working? We are using Wordfence. Can it be, that WF is blocking your Login due to different IPs?

    Best regards
    Florian

Ok, I got the issue detailed here by you guys, where upon installation I got an error

    https://kriesi.at/support/topic/please-read-regarding-wordfence-layerslider-warning-on-enfold-4-0-3/

I was left unable to access my site other than ftp. So searching though these forums i found the function edit that allows us to access the installation and work on the site. So I was left without a slider, buat able to do my job. Now I see that with Smart Slider plugin I get the errors that I have mentioned, the space between images, etc. I also would like to use the slider animation, that was one of the features that got me buying this theme. So again, for the third time, can I install a previous version where everything actually works? If I update to php 5.4 will the error described in your previous post be fixed?

In a nutshell, how can I use LayerSlider?

    Thanks

Got the same critical message from WordFence advising to upgrade to Layerslider 6.40…
This is getting somehow stressful since I am not even using Layerslider…
Cant you just make the Layerslider available for uptional installation?

    Please advsise

    Hi,
I manage several websites that have Wordfence installed. I am receiving notices that I have to update LayerSlider but as this is bundled within Enfold and I do not want to purchase a license (this appears to be the only way to update it), how can I upgrade please?

    Thanks

Hello, I have updated a client’s website to Enfold Version 4.0.5. Once the update was completed the screen went blank.

A list of events is shown below:

    1. Backed up database and website files using the Updraft Plus plugin
    2. Update the Updraft Plus plugin from Version 1.12.34 to Version 1.12.40
    3. Update Enfold theme from Version 4.0.2 to Version 4.0.5
    4. Screen to the back end went white

Since then my client has accessed their FTP and tried renaming the Enfold theme folder via FTP, once this is performed the wp-admin is again accessible. He then switched to the TwentySixteen theme and renamed the enfold theme folder back to ‘Enfold’ in FTP. Then went back into wp-admin and attempted to switch the site over to the Enfold theme but it immediately flicked him out to the ‘Error 500’ page and again, WP-Admin was no longer accessible. The site is now running the Twenty Sixteen theme so that wp-admin is accessible.

The plugins we have running on this site are Akismet, Updraft Plus, Woocommerce, Wordfence, Yoast SEO and Wp Smush IT. Nothing has been updated since the ‘white screen’ crash.

My client has created login details for you to access the website and FTP. These are posted in private content.

We have both been researching the various threads with similar issues in your support forum and it is all getting quite confusing with so many possible reasons. If you could please have a look at the website and offer some assistance on the best way forward we would really appreciate it.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi Victoria,
    you solved my issue!
It seems it was a wordfence problem: setting the plugin in learning-mode for a while has solved the issue.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Carlo

    Hi,

    Your issues are the following:

    1. Wordfence is blocking the problems
    2. You need to upgrade php version to 7.0+

After that, u will have your issues fixed.

    Best regards,
    Basilis

    Hi Mike,
    Sorry for late on reply.
    Just tried re-upload enfold theme,
    but the problem still appear.
Now it appears also in dashboard, above wordfence info.
Tried to deactivated all plugin except wordfence to see if the error message still appear,
and the result is it’s still show error message.

Healthcliffe, my issues were beyond that as well. Previously working slide shows were not working properly on mobile at all after the last updates. And I was seeing all the Wordfence errors. I switched to a different slider for now.

Thanks for the link, I see in the given thread https://kriesi.at/support/topic/please-read-regarding-wordfence-layerslider-warning-on-enfold-4-0-3/
several users have the same problem, e.g. the user “hugaud” March 29, 2017 at 9:20 am:
“Updates indicator stays stuck on “1 update needed” but no updates available”
and Layer Slider system status reports it needs an update.

I know we can’t update Layer Slider separately from Enfold, but then the info of the Updates Indicator should be corrected by Enfold programmers too, so that it wouldn’t show available Layer Slider updates separately from Enfold updates.

We use Layer Slider, so we can’t deactivate it.

As far as I understand the Kriesi team is working on an Enfold update, that is going to solve this problem with Layer Slider updates and with the wrong Updates Indicator info?

The first pinned thread on the forum does answer you questions.

I am also getting the warning from WordFence, and WordPress thinks there is an update to a plugin but I can’t access the LayerSlider to update it (the WP updates page is showing everything up to date). I am using the layerslider so I can’t disable it. Any news on fixing the “you have an upgrade” but can’t get to the plugin to update it problem? I am using Enfold 4.0.5 with a child theme.

    In reply to: LayerSlider error

I stopped using part of Layerslider to “fix” my issues from a few weeks ago. I updated the theme again tonight and I got this error and it crashed my site. I had to disable layerslider entirely which I really didn’t want to do but it was the only way to get in. I also do not use wordfence as a plugin. Is this error still PHP related?

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/72/5288872/html/ancientcitybaptist/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/layerslider.php on line 109

    Thanks
    Carla

I am running the current versions of everything. I see these errors in Wordfence:

Warning: fopen(/home2/mochaber/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/home2/mochaber/public_html/wp/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/layerslider.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/mochaber/public_html/wp/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4783

Warning: fread() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home2/mochaber/public_html/wp/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4786

Warning: fclose() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home2/mochaber/public_html/wp/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4789

    Thanks

    Hey!

Yes, you can disable the plugin but I doubt that it will help because Wordfence will still scan the plugin files within the theme. Please refer to this link.

Hello to our lovely support staff,

As you know, the Layer Slider issue has popped up again after the 4.0.5 Enfold update. Many people hove posted this on the original thread “Please read – Regarding Wordfence LayerSlider warning on Enfold 4.0.3 “, but it has been very noticeable that the support staff has not commented on the re-ocurrence. This is somewhat troublesome, as you are most often very forth coming and willing to explain and share your findings.

Can you comment on what is happening and how long until the next update that will take care of this matter so it does not resurface?

Can you tell us if this issue is a potential security issue? If the Layer Slider is not being used, is this an urgent issue? The Wordfence plugin reports this as a “critical” error; but disabling the Wordfence plugin is not an option as it is one of the best security plugins available.

Any and all information would be appreciated.

Thank your for your tireless dedication to helping Enfold remain as one of the best WP Themes available!

April 7, 2017 Just confirming that Layerslider needs another updated again, to Version 6.3.0.
That’s why we are getting the notice again from WordPress and from Wordfence.

updated to latest version of enfold, i run a wordfence scan, and error didn’t go away…

    #770902

Hi I have been using your theme on all the websites I design with no problems to date. I have just updated one site to Enfold Version 4.0.5. Once the update was completed the screen went blank. Initially the login screen at /wp-admin displayed but now this has also gone blank not allowing me any access. The plugins I have running on this site are shown below.

Akismet, Updraft Plus, Woocommerce, Wordfence, Yoast SEO and Wp Smush IT.

I would really appreciate your assistance as soon as possible. Thank you.

April 2, 2017 Installed the latest Enfold Theme 4.04 update, it worked.
Ran a scan on Wordfence and it ran without problems, no alerts to update Layerslider -the warning went away from WordPress.
All is good again. Thanks to Kreisi and his developers who fixed this for all of us. Thank you.

    #770183

    Hey Portfoli0CSG,

We apologize for this, and this issue is showing up because of Wordfence. Kriesi and our devs are already working on it.

    Best regards,
    Nikko
