No, you are not missing anything. It is not posibble to add layers to easy slider.
Please add following code to Quick CSS in Enfold theme options under Styling tab
```
.av-special-heading { margin-top: 90px; }
.avia_textblock { margin-top: 50px; }
```
You can simply click on “Insert More Tag” to add read more button to your blog posts http://i.imgur.com/4RmtaLS.jpg
