Last stable version of IE6 was released on 2008. Enfold is compatible with IE versions 8 and newer. I do not think any of the modern themes would be compatible with IE6. Unfortunately there is not much we can do to help in this case

Please flush browser cache. Font weight on heading elements is 300 on my end – http://imgur.com/a/y5zaR 300 above and 100 below changed CSS to show the difference

Themes do not explode over time. But they should be compatible with WordPress and plugins so versions matter. You can refer to this video and create a child theme – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/create-a-child-theme/
Enfold will be getting updates and with each update it is improving.
