Our demo is using the color section and you’re using a slider and so the html different and z-index issue cannot be resolved.
You can try using a color section too with the background image the same that you use in the slider.

I think JavaScript assumes that the first menu item is clicked and highlights it, while it’s the logo that works as an anchor too.
What if you add another menu item “Welcome” to be the first and logo with no link or just to reload the page?

Divi has a very different theme builder so switching might require the whole website rebuilding. You will need to purchase 3 licenses, they are all regular price.
