If the updates are not coming through via the theme backend, then you can try using this plugin instead: https://envato.com/market-plugin/. You can also install it by simply uploading the theme files as if it was a new installation, then select to overwrite the old installation. Please keep backups of the site before updating anything.

A child theme is only used to override the parent theme, and a clean child theme won’t affect anything on your site. It’s up to you what you would like to add to the child theme.

There’s no such functionality in the the theme by default unfortunately. You might be able to find that in a dedicated contact form plugin or using third party code.
