I would recommend that you update on a staging version of the site first, so that you won’t compromise your live site. Or you can leave the update until a later update.

I’m not sure which version of the theme you are running since you have edited the information in style.css, could you make sure that you are running the latest version of the theme (4.2.6)? http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/. If that is not the problem then please try to deactivate all plugins to see if there is a conflict coming from any of them.

If you haven’t edited any of the core files like functions.php for instance, then your settings should be safe on updates. You should always keep proper backups in case something should go wrong though.
