I will just use the main Enfold theme for now and tweak its code there. I am having other larger concerns with Enfold that need to be settled first. Thank you for your time.
October 18, 2013 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Error message in child theme:parent theme is required in the child theme. #177444Thanks for responding. The only file I am replacing is custom.css, so it’s not an issue of core files. My child theme worked with my previous version of Enfold including my current plug-ins.
October 17, 2013 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Error message in child theme:parent theme is required in the child theme. #177051And I have tried clicking “Import Parent Theme Settings,” but it has not worked. My website remained in the default color scheme and did not absorb any of my customizations that I have set in Enfold.
October 17, 2013 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Error message in child theme:parent theme is required in the child theme. #177048Thanks! I used the video you linked as a guide to create my child theme. And I have downloaded the .zip and reviewed it to make sure that my child theme was set up properly (it was, down to the lowercase “e” in “enfold”).
This child theme has worked with previous versions of Enfold. For example, my child theme told the socket to be right-aligned. However, it has stopped working with 2.3.2.
October 16, 2013 at 9:08 pm in reply to: Error message in child theme:parent theme is required in the child theme. #176620I received this message as well, and I’m glad to see that it’s not an error message. But it does look like we are both facing the same error when trying to use a child theme.
I wonder whether our problem is caused by broken links in the Theme Options section for our theme children.
My child theme will not import settings from its parent theme (Enfold, version 2.3.2). It appears to use # as placeholder links for the “Import dummy data” and “Import Parent Theme Settings” buttons. Do you see this same error in your Theme Options for your Enfold Child theme?
For me, when I hover over either of these buttons, I see that they link to:
{my website address}/wp-admin/admin.php?avia_welcome=true&page=avia#
which is the URL of the page I was on followed by a pound sign. Is it possible that when a new version of Enfold was being tinkered with, a placeholder link (#, which redirects to the current page) was accidentally left in the code? Thanks, and take care.

Also, I would prefer not to delete Enfold folder if possible. I have added custom settings for each of the 13 translations of my website (WPML) plus versions for the blog, PR and news. That is 16 versions with lots of customizations. Is there some other way to update without reconfiguring a couple days’ worth of manual work?
Thanks for the advice, Devin. However, I can’t get into my CMS to deactivate the plugins because where the website should be is a blank page. I go to the subpage for the WordPress login, and it is also a blank page.
October 8, 2013 at 11:39 pm in reply to: Backing up and restoring my Enfold databases of style settings #172764Thank you! My host offers backup for my entire site, as well. But I was wondering about a simpler way, i.e. how to back up and restore the database(s) related to the Enfold customizations rather than restoring my entire site.
ETA: Which databases do I need to restore, and where are they located? Are there also files I need to restore, so that my favicon, etc. will be restored?

I’m not concerned about losing the child theme; it is in a different directory. I am concerned about losing the theme settings. But I could try it after backing up. Thanks!
Thanks, Ismael, I had thought it would have been in the last one since the post I linked predated it, but I will try this.
Quick question — Is there a way to update Enfold automatically without overwriting all my settings? I created a child theme, but I’ve already used my Enfold settings to create a lot of custom design settings. I know that auto-updates were a problem in the past, but I wasn’t sure if the overwriting issue had been addressed. My main section of the site (default language) is 2.2, but I just realized that other areas of the site have earlier versions of Enfold installed.
I have Enfold installed in multiple parts of my site (13 language / translation sections + separate installs for the blog section of the site, the news section of the site and the press releases section of the site). That is 16 instances of Enfold where I have to manually update each file and folder that needs to be done, and updates are rather frequent. Any advice on updating would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
This is exactly the feature I was looking for. Thanks for the code!
PS – I searched the iconbox file for similar code (but with “iconbox” in the text instead of “iconlist”), but the code most be different. Could you please advise how to update Icon Box to make the icons clickable?
I’m right with ya, itsfargo.
Josue, I used the replacement code that you recommended to hide the featured images, but it did not change anything.
