Thanks for your reply. All my crawl erros are searches without any search terms. See private content for an example of a soft 404 error google has flagged. All of the crawl errors are urls that work but with ‘?s=’ at the end.
Yes I am. If you go to my draft post ‘Tales of an Actor’ and look at the first heading entitled: “Master of the House”–James, East London, you will see that in the editor I have written:
“Master of the House” – James, East London
And if you preview the post then it shows:
“Master of the House”–James, East London
Notice the spaces either side of the hyphen. It does this on most hyphens and also after colons, semi colons and some other punctuation.
That’s really helpful, thank you very much! So is my issue that my images aren’t compressed well enough or that they aren’t progressive? Looking at the results from the test you did, it seems that half of my images are progressive JPEGs. Would you be able to help me a little more? I’m not sure how half of my images are already progressive, but how do I convert the rest? I’m using WP smush but I don’t think that does it.
Hi Mike thanks for this! I’ve added your code to the end of my htaccess file but it’s made no difference, I’m still getting the same low score for optimising images. I have wp smush installed shouldn’t this take care of that anyway? What can I do? Thank you!
I have now updated but the problem still persists. You will see if you refresh the page the fullwidth submenu flashes on the right hand side of the screen.
