We migrated from Enfold v. 4.2.6 from Network Solutions to GoDaddy. The previous website developer did not change the ThemeForest API key to the Envato Personal Token and the theme stopped being updated at v. 4.2.6. The developer did in fact get the Personal Token in 2/2018 but never performed the change and it looks like the credit may have expired in 2/2019. The Enfold theme is no longer able to be updated using the ThemeForest API key under the original developer. The license for the Enfold theme that the original developer purchased through ThemeForest needed to be re-registered with Envato in order to be updated to 4.8.2. Originally Enfold theme updates used the ThemeForest API key for validation but they retired that at version 4.4.1 and now the theme requires an Envato Personal Token for updates, which I have. If changing the license holder and buying a new license would fix it, that would be great. Right now the pages look like code in a blog editor and I do not have access to the Avia advanced editor. We have the FTP transfer files and I exported the backup but that was after the migration (I was not informed until after the migration that we migrated). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi KathrynHunt,

Thanks for giving us a link to your site.
Using a new license would be enough, however, API keys are not used anymore to update instead tokens are used.
Please do the following steps in order to update your site to the latest version:

    Make a backup:
    – Site Backup: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/backup-wordpress-site/
    – Theme Settings Backup: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/backup-theme-settings/

    Update Enfold Theme

Option 1: Use Envato Market to update your site
    – link: https://envato.com/market-plugin/
If you don’t have a personal token yet, please generate one and make sure it has sufficient permissions, you can check our documentation to know the required permissions: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token

    Option 2: Update manually
    1. Login to ThemeForest and download the Enfold theme, right-click over the downloaded zip file and extract/unzip it.
    2. It should generate a new folder, open it and look for the enfold folder
    3. Right-click the enfold folder then zip it, here’s a tutorial on how to create a zip file in windows: https://www.howtogeek.com/668409/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-on-windows-10/ (this should create enfold.zip
    4. Log in to WordPress as and Admin.
    5. Install and activate a maintenance plugin and put your site in Maintenance mode.
    6. Go to Appearance > Themes, switch to a default WordPress theme like TwentyTwenty then delete Enfold.
    7. Click on the ADD NEW button.
    8. Click on the UPLOAD THEME button.
    9. Click BROWSE and choose enfold.zip file
    10. Click the INSTALL NOW button and switch to Enfold or your child theme.
    11. Remove the maintenance mode then deactivate and remove the maintenance plugin.

Register the theme by following the instructions in https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Once this is done, the next time you update, you’ll only need to go to Enfold > Theme Updates and click on the Update button.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

I put the site into maintenance mode and deleted enfold theme but WP still won’t let me upload the enfold.zip file or the themforest zip file or the envato-market zip file. I purchased a new license last night and tried that as well, still the same error:

Unable to create directory uploads/2021/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

GoDaddy WordPress Advanced fixed the problem and the theme is now 4.8.2. Thank you for your help!

    Best regards,
