Hi Support,
I need update my theme from 4.2.6 to 4.6.2. I’m afraid to hang my websites.
Can you suggest me any prerequisites or workaround for any problem I can meet.
(for example I use a plugin for classic editor, does it continue to work?)
Thanks
Vito Madaio

Yes, the classic editor will still work. First of all, you need to have a full website backup ready if something goes wrong. Make sure you’re using php7+.
Here is a step by step description of the step you can take:

Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?

October 24, 2019 at 9:54 am #1150776Hi Vito,
Thank you. I looked at the website and it seems to be working ok, the Advanced Layout Builder too.
Can you please tell us how to reproduce the issue step by step?
Best regards,
VictoriaOctober 24, 2019 at 10:06 am #1150788Hi Victoria,
It is very simple.
When yu access the wordpress and try to create a new page or article, you don’t see the button “Editor Avanzato di Layout” as I see in another website tenstep.it.
So, it seems a different parameter of INFOLD, but I’m nt able to understand wich one.
Thanks again.
VitoOctober 24, 2019 at 10:57 am #1150830Hi Vito,
Well, Enfold 4.2.6 is not built to work with the WordPress 5+ so you need to update the theme.
The latest is 4.6.3.1.

I understand, but why the same level of enfold works fine in another website: http://www.tenstep.it?
Please, can you refresh for me th eprocdure to migrate form enfold 4.2.6 to 4.6.3.1 ?
Regards.
VitoOctober 25, 2019 at 10:47 am #1151146Hi,
The easiest and safest way to update is to download the newest version from Theme Forest and rename your current theme to “enfold-old” via ftp then upload the new “enfold” and check that your site is working correctly.
Once you are happy you can delete the “enfold-old” via ftp, (not the WP theme page)
Should for some reason you wish to roll-back to the old version, it’s easy to do, simply rename the new “enfold” to “enfold-new” via ftp and then rename “enfold-old” to “enfold” then refresh your page.
Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
If you include FTP access in the Private Content area, and a DropBox link to your theme zip file we can assist.Best regards,
MikeNovember 5, 2019 at 12:26 pm #1153973Hi Mike,
Thanks for your assistance.
I’ll solve this issue, whit care as you suggest.
1) I’ll download the new theme form Forest. What I see is that the current release is 4.5.7. Is a correct one, please? I need migrate ffrom 4.2.6
2) if it is the correct one I will charge trough FTP on my WP theme, after remaning the current ENFOLD theme. Please, I remember that I upload directly the zip file and then I open to let extract? Or how it works please?
3)If it works fine I can delete the old Enfold file.
Thanks if you confirm my steps.
Vito MadaioNovember 6, 2019 at 4:01 am #1154153Hi Vito,
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
The latest version of the theme is 4.6.3.1 and you can delete the old version after you have updated successfully. If you need help with updating then please include FTP login details in private as well, along with a verification that you have backups of the site.
Best regards,
RikardNovember 6, 2019 at 7:29 am #1154185Hi
My concerns are two:
1) downloading from Forest Enfold I got this zipped file: themeforest-4jP5La7h-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip- I’m not sure it is the last one 4.6.3.1. How to verify, please?
2) if I rename the current Theme and upload the new one , I’m afraid that I lose all Enfold parameters (colors, logo, layout). How can I save and at least copy in the new version?
2) I know that I need redefine Header an Footer, as I lose customizations.
Thanks.
VitoNovember 6, 2019 at 12:57 pm #1154271Hi Vito,
1. You can unzip the file and open style.css to verify that you have the correct version. The file package on Themeforest is always the latest so you shouldn’t have to though.
2. Please have a backup of your site before updating. You shouldn’t lose anything though if you haven’t edited any of the parent theme files. If you rename a folder then you can always rename it again to the original name.
3. I’m not sure I understand what you are asking here, could you try to explain a bit further please?
Best regards,
RikardNovember 7, 2019 at 7:29 am #1154554Thanks Rikard,
I’ve solved, understanding that I need export Enfold parameters, before renaming Enfold folder.
Then I need import them in the new version.
I need also add customizations to Header and Footer.
I will do the migration in two weeks. Now I’m too busy.
Regards.
