    Hello I am facing a tricky issue on my website. I have a series of portfolio pages that are created with a template builder layout. When I save them they look fine, but after a while some of them show in front end, in some point, the shortcodes. The text inside the elements was copied/pasted from word files. I thought that they problem may arouse by the fact that in the text disrupted the symbols “<” and “>” were present.
    When I open the avia element and re-type the text it seems ok. But after a while it has been updated, the front-end looks disrupted again.
    Do you have any suggestion? Thanks

    Hey Elena,

    Could you post a link to where we can see the problem please?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi you can see it here (I was just passing through the various pages) ->> see it in private

    When opening again the text block of the page with the issue the following msg appears

    see screenshot

    By the way: on the text version (html format) I don’t see any strange thing. I noted however that, on visual editor, after creating a space between the symbol < or > and the number or word after it, the error msg disappears and the front-end is ok again. Time by time, nonetheless, the page breaks again (don’t really know how it could happen). This phenomenon never happened in normal pages, but only in portfolio pages, where there is much scientific text in it

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear that you have found that adding a space after the special characters helps, I believe that the WordPress text element has a feature that removes duplicate spaces, so perhaps when you edit the page for something else the duplicate spaces are removed the page breaks again.
    Perhaps the best solution for your scientific pages is to use the Special Character Translation plugin for these characters, please see our documentation: Using special characters

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Thanks Mike, I see now from the Enfold documentation on the spacial character that explains the same exact problem I had. However the link to the plugin you suggest is broken: the plugin seems that doesn’t exist

    I tried, but the codes that are given in the documentation do not work
    < = ###lt###
    > = ###gt###
    [ = ###91###
    ] = ###93###

    If I insert them in the editor they appear as that.

    Hi,
    For the Special Character Translation plugin to work you will need to change the to ###lt### and ###gt###
    in your pages, if you have 255 pages, I recommend creating a staging site and try the Better Search Replace, and try to target only the posts, but don’t try this on your live site until after you have tested and have a full backup because replacing special characters in the wrong place in the database could break your site.
    Try watching some videos on YouTube to see the best way to use the plugin: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Better+Search+Replace

    Best regards,
    Mike
