Does the file functions.php will override on next theme updates?July 2, 2017 at 4:30 pm #815577Hi,
Yes, please use a child theme – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/. You can simply copy your additional codes into functions.php file of your child theme. You would not need to copy all content of parent theme’s functions.php file :)

YigitJuly 2, 2017 at 5:47 pm #815586Thanks Yigit, however I can’t find this option on Enfold admin:
July 3, 2017 at 5:48 am #815735Hi,
There is no functionality for that in the theme, you will have copy the code you added to the parent functions.php to the same file in your child theme.

RikardJuly 4, 2017 at 8:12 pm #816470Hi Rikard,
Tried to enable a child theme with no success. This require a complete assembly of all we’ve done on the parent theme since the child theme have completely altered the website.
If there’s a workaround like quick CSS textbox, that’s would be great.
Thanks!
-MJuly 5, 2017 at 6:11 am #816625Hi,
What changes have you done to the parent exactly? If you are referring to theme settings then you can export them from the parent and import them to the child.
Best regards,
RikardJuly 5, 2017 at 7:12 am #816643Hi Rikard,
I did export and import parent setting, however it didn’t display the website fully (color and font changes mainly).
I’ve deleted the child theme for now.
Would appreciate your assistance.
Thanks!

July 5, 2017 at 12:00 pm #816705Hi,
Ok, that is why you should export the settings from the parent to the child. When activating the child all your settings will be default values, if you import the settings from you parent, then they will be updated in the child. Could you try that out please?
Best regards,
RikardJuly 6, 2017 at 8:24 pm #817493Yes I did as you instruct. After importing there were some differences which takes time to re-set.
July 7, 2017 at 6:23 am #817624July 24, 2017 at 7:11 pm #829157Unfortunately no.
Can’t find a way to install a child theme successfully. Theme goes straight back to the very beginning and 99% need work to go back to the current theme settings. Would appreciate your kind help.
Thanks!July 28, 2017 at 6:04 am #830897Hi,
After activating the child theme, please go to the “Import/Export” panel then click the “Import Parent Theme Settings”. If that is not working, switch back to the parent theme, go back to the same panel then click the “Export Theme Settings File” button. Activate the child theme, go back to the same panel but this time, look for the “Import Theme Settings File” and upload the theme settings file.

IsmaelOctober 3, 2017 at 1:23 pm #859618OK so I did that exactly and I end up having the child theme active with a lot of diferences.
So I was unable to use the benefit of the child theme, and after the last update I lost Assistant font also.
Would appreciate your help.
Thank you.- This reply was modified 7 years ago by mooshonov.
