    Hi There,

I have an issue with my mail chimp signup form integration. It was working fine for almost 2 years, then about a month ago it stopped. Users were receiving an error upon registration of “We are very sorry but something went wrong. Please try again later.”

After countless tries to fix, the only thing that worked was creating a whole new audience through Mailchimp, and then linking that to the page. It worked for about a week. Now users are getting the same error.

However, if you go directly to the mail chimp signup form link ( http://eepurl.com/hpgBij ), it allows users to successfully register without error.

Now, enfold theme is telling me the API is not connected. I’ve created a new API Key from mail chimp, but it’s still not connecting.

    Hey DreamlandHomes,

Sorry for the problem. I see that you are running an old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (4.7.6.4) to see if that helps please? The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi There,

I’ve updated the theme successfully, but it has not fixed the issue. The form still does not work, and the API from Mail Chimp is not recognized. I’ve verified the API in the Mail Chimp side, and also confirmed that the contact list is linked to the site.

    Hi DreamlandHomes,

Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    Hi DreamlandHomes,

    Thank you.

Please disable Wordfence Security and Sucuri Security – Auditing, Malware Scanner and Hardening and test the form.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

I’ve completely disabled both security plug ins, and the form still did not work and the API is not accessible. I will reactivate them now.

I have to temporarily shut down the registration link because we are getting bombarded with emails about it not working. I’ve created a dup in drafts.

    Hi DreamlandHomes,

You’re using a custom Mailchimp signup form. You need to check with the Mailchimp support why there is such an error.

I tried on the test page and it worked.
    Best regards,

    Hi Victoria,

We’ve been using the same form for 2 years. It’s not really custom, it’s a standard form from Mailchimp and just revised to only show certain fields. I have had my ISP tech support on it also, and he has confirmed that all connections are good and not blocked.

The API suddenly started working again, so we’re not sure what’s going on. I do notice that the telephone field through mail chimp form is formatted to be ###-###-####, however when it is used through the theme, the formatting disappears and you can enter any sequence of numbers. Could that be effecting the form?

    Hi DreamlandHomes,

The form is loaded by an iframe, the theme formatting or JavaScript does not affect it. I am not sure why it’s working like that but it’s out of the scope of the theme function this way.

    Best regards,
    Victoria
