Hey there, I have been running Enfold Themes on 3 different sites since 2014, but now I suddenly have problems with updating the themes on all sites…when I try to update, i get an error message, that a valid url was not provided…
So it ´s been a long time now, since I updated my themes, and it´s a baaad situation!
Can any one help? Has something changed, that I do not know of?
Thanks in advance.

I was in the exact some position like you about 10 months ago.
Meanwhile I updated many Enfold websites using the following procedure via FTP (needs some technical understanding, but is the best option in my opinion to do the update). So here is the step by step guide I wrote.
Cheers and good luck
MichaelAugust 26, 2019 at 12:24 pm #1130950Hi Ida,
Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5.x has to be done manually from version 4.4.1 and below, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
RikardAugust 26, 2019 at 1:59 pm #1130979Rikard, do you mean that I am never going to be able to update again, the way it used to be?
I´m not particularly tech savvy, and it´s something that I would prefer help with. I just updated support here on Kriesi today, it this something you can help me with, if I provide logins and so on?

You will be able to update normally after this manual update, the reason for this is that Envato has a new system in place. We can help you out with updating, but I would advice you to at least try yourself. The instructions I posted will help you.
If you still need help then we need FTP login details as well, along with a verification that you have backups of the site(s) in question.Best regards,
RikardAugust 27, 2019 at 9:11 am #1131255Rikard, I would really really appreciate if Kriesi support team will help me out with this.
Normally I am a person who tries to do it all my self, but this is just one too many things. I was informed earlier that your support team would be happy to help, so I just bought a new support period, only for this purpose.
I don´t want to blabber too much, but I am running a business entirely on my own, with multiple tasks, and I just don´t have the time and mental space to deal with the stress of these update issues.
At the moment I am actually dealing with some stress issues because of way too much work…I am fully aware that it is not Kriesi who created this situation, but neither is it your costumers.
So because of my situation I would be really really appreciative if you can help me with these updates. I just don´t have the mental space to deal with it. My entire business depends on my WordPress sites, especially one of them. So it is not just for fun for me…
So how can we do this Rikard? I provided the info for one of the sites above. Do you want me to give you the details for all of them, or will you prefer we take one at a time?
Concerning backup, I am not sure I have that in place either. Can you give me some instruction on how you prefer I do this, before we start?
Thanks in advance, in my situation, I really really need this help.
Kind regards, Ida
August 27, 2019 at 10:40 am #1131278Update: Rikard, I have found a professional to help me with this stuff. I think that´s best for me. Thanks for the help anyway :D
Cheers, IdaAugust 29, 2019 at 10:36 am #1131842Hi,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Glad to hear that you’ve found the help that you need. The previous automatic update no longer works because Envato closed their old API and so those who are still using versions older than 4.4.1 will have to update the theme manually via FTP. After that, you can do the automatic update again as long as you have a valid token from Envato. You can read more info about that in the link that @Rikard provided above.
Please make it a habit to update WordPress and the theme regularly. This is very important specially when your business depends on it.
Best regards,
