My post above was the first time I have used this forum. Should I expect to receive a reply?
January 27, 2019 at 2:47 pm #1059351Hi,
@bunting2017society
Sorry for the late reply, that sounds correct, the name of the file doesn’t change with each version, it’s how Envato serves them.
If you open the file it should look like this:
and opening the style.css will tell you the version number at the top of the file:
Best regards,
MikeJanuary 27, 2019 at 2:57 pm #1059352Thanks. I was expecting the filename to change, and reflect the version number. I successfully installed the update via FTP.
January 27, 2019 at 6:05 pm #1059390February 6, 2019 at 4:48 pm #1063699Hi. I´ve just tried the following:
“You can simply go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme and upload enfold.zip file of Enfold 4.5 and theme will be overwritten.”
but have received the error:
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme installation failed.
Please help!!!!!
Thank you!!
February 7, 2019 at 5:25 am #1063817Hi,
@ProTravelGolf Typically “The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.” is a error that the zip file you are using is not correct. Please try ensuring that you are using the zip file from the link “Installable WordPress file only”
If you open the zip file it should have this structure:
If this doesn’t help please upload the zip file to DropBox or Google Drive so we can examine it.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 7, 2019 at 5:42 am #1063823Hi all,
What’s happening? I updated manually using SFTP and now I’m running Enfold 4.5.2. I registered my token and all looks fine.
Now I see that Enfold 4.5.3 is available. I try to update the theme and I get an error that it couldn’t retrieve files. No matter how I try, the theme is not updating.
Now what?
Thanks,
LeydenFebruary 7, 2019 at 10:50 am #1063999Mike,
Thank you for your reply. I´ve checked the file and it is indeed the installable wordpress file only but it isn´t working. I´ve uploaded the zip file to dropbox as you requested and added the link below.
Many thanks again for your help!!
February 7, 2019 at 2:39 pm #1064141Hi,
@ProTravelGolf Thanks, I see that the file is correct, and I tested it on my localhost without issue using the Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File plugin.
We should take a look with your admin login, Please open a new thread, and include your admin login in the Private Content area, but as this is not your thread your login info will not be private if posted here.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 7, 2019 at 2:44 pm #1064143Hi,

If this doesn’t help, Please open a new thread, and include your admin login in the Private Content area, but as this is not your thread your login info will not be private if posted here.Best regards,

You lost this customer, which is a shame because I have over 6 licenses. You say this “problem” wasn’t caused by your theme? That it was something else? A token through ThemeForest? That’s not true, because my other 7 sites have ZERO issues updating when using Avada. Better. Faster. Sexier. Enjoy my money….I’ll be leaving now.
February 16, 2019 at 2:39 pm #1067705I activated the ‘Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File’ and downloaded the zipfile from ThemeForest.
I add it as a new theme but when I click ‘Install now’ get the error ‘the link you followed has expered’ – that’s the translation of the Dutch error ‘De link die je volgde is verlopen.’.What to do? How can I update?
February 16, 2019 at 3:42 pm #1067708Hi,
@kingma100
Thanks for the login,
I see that your “PHP Post Max Size: 8M” and “PHP Max Upload Size: 2M” which is too small for uploading the theme file, which is 18.5M
Please ask your webhost to assist in changing these to 20M or larger.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 16, 2019 at 6:44 pm #1067764Thanks, Mike. It worked!
February 16, 2019 at 8:19 pm #1067778February 21, 2019 at 7:16 pm #1070063Hi, I’m having issues too :( … I’ve tried:
“You can simply go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme and upload enfold.zip file of Enfold 4.5 and theme will be overwritten.”but have received the error:
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
Destination folder already exists. /home/centerc3/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/
Theme installation failed.
That was using the enfold.zip folder from the “all files and documentation” download. I’ve downloaded the “Installable wordpress files only” download, and there is no enfold.zip folder?? It’s saying it already exists, but how am I supposed to re-install enfold when I’m using enfold without getting this error?
Thanks for your help.

February 22, 2019 at 2:57 am #1070163Hi,
When using the “all files and documentation” download, you will need to extract the enfold.zip from the download, because the extra files in it won’t let it work when you try to upload it directly. But with the “Installable wordpress files only” download, you can upload it directly, because there are no extra files.
But you maybe getting the error because your PHP max upload setting is smaller than the zip size, ensure your PHP setting is at least 20mb You can easily check your setting at: WordPress > Dashboard > LayerSlider > Options and click “System Status” and look under “Server Settings”
If your setting is too small, or if any of the settings are in red, ask your webhost to assist.Best regards,
MikeFebruary 23, 2019 at 9:00 pm #1070793Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply. I checked the PHP settings, and they are 128M, so should be plenty large enough to accommodate the update. Any other thoughts?February 24, 2019 at 3:38 pm #1070937Hi,
@dewittnp

MikeMarch 4, 2019 at 9:26 pm #1074523At first I downloaded the plug in and then tried to upload the zip file but I got an error saying the file was too big. Then I tried to ftp the Enfold folder with Filezilla. I followed these directions from the moderator Mike and it didn’t work.
Hi,
To manually update the theme via FTP, look for the “enfold” folder at /wp-content/themes/enfold/ and rename to “enfold-old” then upload the new version as the folder “enfold”
Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
Once you have cleared your browser cache and tested that your site is working correctly, you can delete the old folder “enfold-old”.
If for some reason you want to go back to the old version, simply remove the new folder and change the name of “enfold-old” back to “enfold”
If you would like help with this, Please open a new thread, and include your admin login and ftp login in the Private Content area, but as this is not your thread your login info will not be private if posted here.
Please post the link to your new thread here so I can quickly find it.Best regards,
MikeAfter I uploaded the new Enfold folder, the site wouldn’t work with the following error: This page isn’t working truetilldeathmerch.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500Also, when I downloaded the installable wordpress files only from Themeforest, they were listed as 4519990, not 4.5. Could this be the problem? Someone please help!

MikeMarch 9, 2019 at 11:24 am #1076706I’m having exactly the same problem – theme won’t update to version 4.5. I’ve tried installing via Appearance, Themes etc but it also fails – says folder Enfold already exists. I’m not particularly comfortable with FTP. Any further suggestions?
March 9, 2019 at 11:26 am #1076708Hi, I have updated the theme but I have several problems, is it possible to return to the previous version?
March 9, 2019 at 5:51 pm #1076795Hi,

@Dr-Design I have taken a look at your site and see you have an error and I can not login,
I’m not sure what you are trying to say though, did you try to install the first time or did you try to update?
To regain access try to go in via FTP and rename the enfold theme folder to something else, such as “enfold-old”. If you have a default WordPress theme in the theme directory WordPress will switch to it so you can login.
Then try to upload the “enfold” theme again via FTP and try to activate it.If this is a old install please ensure your PHP is at least version 5.6, and don’t try overwriting the theme folder, this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
If this doesn’t help, please explain in more detail what happened and include an admin login and ftp access in the private content area so we can be of more assistance.
Best regards,
