Hi Illingco
Yes, I would go with this method.
If you want to go step by step, please check my detailed comment in this thread from October 16, 2018 at 1:19 pm which should cover everything you need to update successfully.Best,
MichaelOctober 23, 2018 at 1:59 pm #1025405This reply has been marked as private.October 24, 2018 at 4:33 am #1025774I am trying another method. I am setting my sites in maintenance mode, deleting the main enfold theme (I have a child theme in place) and then importing the new 4.5 updated theme. I then re-activate the child theme. I do have to reset a couple of widgets afterwards, but with three sites, it seems to be working. Is this method okay? I have 11 more sites to udpate, so I want to ensure that this won’t cause an issue later?
October 24, 2018 at 5:00 am #1025780Hi,
It doesn’t sound good, but it seems to be working for you. I would recommend this method:
Here are the steps to update with the plugin to assist.
1: please install the plugin: Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File
2: then go to WordPress > Themes > Add New > Upload
3: after the install, click “Return to Themes page” (NOT Activate)
4: success:
Best regards,

Please include the FTP password, I did try your WP password, but it didn’t work.Best regards,
MikeOctober 31, 2018 at 6:25 pm #1028565I tried the method using the plugin. Unfortunately it doesn´t work on my website. The “folder still exists” message still appears.
October 31, 2018 at 6:36 pm #1028567Hi @aph80
I would go for the method via FTP – this works for sure.
Please check the step by step guide I provided in one of my previous comments here.Good luck and best,

@aph80 please let us know if you are successfully with michaelH’s suggestion.Best regards,
MikeNovember 2, 2018 at 3:29 pm #1029175Hi,
thank you for the guide Michael! I would prefer a simple solution, though. Is it not possible to make the Enfold update work regularly (or at least with plugin)? Seems weird that everybody should follow all the steps for this update.
Best regards
Arkadi
November 2, 2018 at 5:43 pm #1029237I followed the steps and the update worked. The private token can not be entered (wheel keeps spinning). In incognito mode it can be entered but it produces the following errors:
Last time we checked the token we were not able to connected to Envato:

Und jetzt sind alle Einstellungen weg… Heul

VictoriaNovember 5, 2018 at 9:27 am #1029804@Yigit, , can I see a demo of 4.5 to figure out the change in the mobile menu and the google maps in widget,Additional accordion styles, additional blog list layouts.
if I upgrade to 4.5, will I need to make the site load time and structural date settings again?
Thanks,
Sergey————————–
Hi,Sorry for the misunderstanding Rob, but when Envato updated their API, we needed to adjust auto updater function.
It currently works fine but since updated code is in Enfold 4.5, manual update would be necessary, either via FTP – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#reinstall-or-update-using-ftp or alternatively, you can install this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/, download the latest version of Enfold from ThemeForest and upload it in Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload and theme will be updated.Once again, auto updater in Enfold 4.4.1 is not working correctly due to these changes and since files were updated in Enfold 4.5, manual update would be necessary this time.
If you guys would like us to update Enfold on your installations, please start a new thread and attach FTP and WP admin logins in private content field in your own thread and we will update the theme for you :)
Cheers!
YigitNovember 5, 2018 at 11:50 am #1029848Have fixed it – used the plugin, thanks
November 6, 2018 at 4:28 am #1030165Hi Sergey,
We don’t have any demos which users can access unfortunately, maybe it would be better if you set up a staging version of your site and installed the new version there?

RikardNovember 10, 2018 at 11:22 am #1031991Hi everibody,
I don’t feel safe with all these procedures, so is it possible to get a automatic update in other future version? -from Version 4.4.1.to the 4.5.X or 4.6-
Thanks in advance.
JoanNovember 10, 2018 at 3:20 pm #1032017Hi,
@bcndisseny sorry, you will need to update manually this time to have the correct files and settings to automatically update in the future.
If you would like assistance with this, please open a new thread and include your admin login & ftp access in the Private Content area, but as this is not your thread such info here will not be private.Best regards,
MikeNovember 12, 2018 at 1:03 am #1032380Thanks a lot Mike,
So I will try to update manually::
1.- I download the themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip and extract the enfold.zip
2.- rename /wp-content/themes/enfold to /wp-content/themes/_enfold
3.- unzip & ftp enfold.zip, so I get the new /wp-content/themes/enfold
4.- I move the _enfold out of themes and It seems to work fine…
Thanks again.
JoanNovember 12, 2018 at 10:04 am #1032514Hi Joan,
That is the proper way to do it yes, please let us know if you should have any problems.

RikardNovember 16, 2018 at 3:42 pm #1034479Concerning Enfold 4.5 Theme Update “Update Failed: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.
Has this issue been corrected?
I use Enfold and their tried and true team, because I don’t want to deal with the technical aspects of creating a beautiful site.
I realize living a life of constant updates can be frustrating to the teams trying to stay ahead of the code game.
That’s why I use Enfold because they are on top of the game.
I’ve learned and used HTML to nip and tuck issues I come across, I’ve learned some things.
But I don’t want to update my theme through ftp or the backend or by reading the steps of an outline, that’s one of the reasons I bought Enfold.
I just tried to update again to see if the issue has been resolved, no luck.
So I’ll just wait till the update 4.6.November 17, 2018 at 5:37 am #1034643Hi,
@JKarr I assume you have read our sticky post and I can appreciate that you don’t want to update with FTP, so I would recommend using the plugin in the sticky post to update.I would like to offer a different way to think about this issue, right now with pre v4.5, when you can’t update it’s because of the files currently installed on your webhost, not because of the update. So to correct we need to get the update onto your webhost, then updating will work correctly going forward.
We are sorry for this inconvenience, and if you open a new thread with your admin login & ftp access in the Private Content area, I will be happy to update for you.
Please follow this one step first though, please use whatever backup tool your webhost provides to create a full backup. I recommend this step as good practice for every time you update, it’s easy to do, & someday someone is going to be thankful that they did. :)I look forward to seeing your post and resolving this for you.
Best regards,
MikeNovember 23, 2018 at 7:15 pm #1037078Hi, I have difficulty updating the theme to v. 4.5, can you help me?
Thank youNovember 23, 2018 at 9:12 pm #1037125Hi Giorgio,
With this procedure, in my case, the updating was fine:
1.- I download the themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip and extract the enfold.zip
2.- only for having a backup I rename /wp-content/themes/enfold to /wp-content/themes/_enfold
3.- unzip the enfold.zip in a new folder enfold in a local hardisk. I ftp this new folder to /wp-content/themes/enfold
4.- I move the _enfold out of themes or delete, otherwise wp detects 2 enfold themes.
I hope it help you…
JoanNovember 24, 2018 at 9:32 pm #1037291Hi,
@giorgio_betagrafic sorry for the late reply, thank you for the login, but could you please include ftp access so I can assist in updating, since you were having trouble with updating with the plugin approach@bcndisseny thank you for trying to assist :)

MikeNovember 25, 2018 at 11:58 am #1037349Hello!
I have the same troubles with update from 4.4.1 to 4.5.
Just a question to bcndisseny. Did it work after the manuelly update with same API key? what happend to your theme settings?regards
wolkenlosNovember 25, 2018 at 3:23 pm #1037359Hi,
@wolkenlos I might be able to shed some light on your questions,
after updating you should create a new Token as the old API key is going to be discontinued by Envato.
Updating will have no effect on your theme settings, but if you have customizations in any of the core theme files, such as functions.php those will be lost unless you are using a child theme.Best regards,
MikeNovember 26, 2018 at 10:54 pm #1037817Hi wolkenlos,
I didn’t know about new token… No changes about theme settings.
Good luck!
