    Hello,

    I had an error message on my WordPress page and therefore updated the Enfold theme via FTP. The error message is still there, and on top of that I can’t access my dashboard anymore. WordPress has sent me the following error message by mail:

    Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in function that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your website and therefore notifies you with this automated email.

    In this case WordPress has intercepted an error in your theme “Enfold”.

    First visit your website and check it for visible problems. Next, visit the page where the error occurred (/wp-admin/plugins.php) and check for visible problems.

    Please contact your hosting company for assistance in further investigation of this issue.

    If your website seems to be faulty and you can no longer access your dashboard as usual, WordPress now has a special “restore mode”. This allows you to securely log into your dashboard and carry out further investigation.

    If you need help with this problem, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.5.1
    Current theme: Enfold (version 4.1.2)
    Current plugin: (version )
    PHP version 7.4.7

    Error details

    An error of the type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 152 of the file /wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php. Error message: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘includes/helper-privacy.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/php’)

    Unfortunately I cannot use the restore function, because then I get an error message again. How can I proceed?

    Hey nicolasheinzel,

    There might be some corrupted files, so please delete all theme files completely via FTP, before installing a fresh copy from your ThemeForest account. Here is a short tutorial on how to install the theme via FTP, in case you are not sure how that works.
