SO I have a major issue and have been having it for at least 2 months. I was unable to update the Enfold theme on my website which didn’t bother me much except it created another issue – I was unable to change content on my pages and that was a huge issue! I was able to create a new page, new blog posts, etc however, if I tried to modify existing content, the site wouldn’t save it. Today I log in to see that the theme was somehow updated – YAY but since I have been trying to change/edit some of my information my “About” page looks absolutely messed up. It’s something minor – something needs to be deleted but when I open the text option – all of my text is gone?!? I don’t know how that is possible?? Will someone please log in and check it out for a brief moment? My text/ content is there, why can’t I see it when I click the edit part? Below is my info…Thank you or any and all help with this!

April 4, 2019 at 6:05 am #1086757Hi,
Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please delete the old version of the theme, then upload the new one. Make sure that you have backups of the site before you start updating.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
After you have updated then select to use the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.

RikardAugust 25, 2019 at 1:33 am #1130667Hello,
My issue is still not resolved. I’m totally overwhelmed with this. I still cannot update my Enfold version. There’s an error stating ” An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.”
Is there a step by step guide available. Literally, the only thing wrong with my page is my ‘About Me” version. The text is there, my pictures are there, except there a layer and some code that overshadows everything. Can someone please help me? My login info is still above.
Thank you very much for all of your help!!
August 25, 2019 at 1:44 am #1130668I forgot to mention this: A new Version (4.5.7) of your Enfold Theme is available! You are using Version 4.2.6.
August 25, 2019 at 2:02 am #1130669I downloaded the Enfold – Responsive Multi-Purpose Theme from the Envato Market. I read the steps in the Updating to Enfold 4.5 and validating Personal Token topic however, my concern is that if I try to follow the steps there’s a chance I may loose my site and content. How can I prevent that from happening?
August 25, 2019 at 6:55 am #1130720Hi,
You shouldn’t lose any of your content, but to be sure then please backup your site before doing anything. If something should go wrong then you can always restore the backup.

RikardAugust 25, 2019 at 2:27 pm #1130755Any suggestions how to do a back up? Is it a lengthy process?
August 25, 2019 at 3:31 pm #1130759So I did the back up, uploaded the updated Enfold version however, I still have that weird code under About Me ->”Education”. I cannot delete it. When I try to edit the element “Education” it opens up blank. The text is not showing for some bizarre reason. Why is that? Could you please look this up for me? My login info is above.
I’m really trying to fix this and I believe it’s a very simple edit.
August 26, 2019 at 4:40 am #1130835Hi,
Thanks for the update, I see the same thing on my end. It seems like something is breaking the layout builder unfortunately. It could be the u tag at the beginning of your content, that tag is deprecated and not included in html 5. Could you try removing that tag to see what happens?
You can also activate debug mode in order to see builder shortcodes, it makes debugging a bit easier, and you can also copy the whole page to a test page: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/intro-to-advanced-layout-builder/#debug-mode
Best regards,
