Hi! We are trying to register for the forum as we are having some theme issues with images not being able to link … However, we paid our developer to buy the theme and don’t have the purchase code. He hasn’t responded to our requests for it. He is at J-S Interactive.
January 13, 2018 at 11:16 pm #896968Hi Andy,
Thanks for contacting us.
Without a valid purchase code, you cannot register to our support forum and due to policy, we only provide support to our registered users.
That being said, you are currently using a very old version of the theme. Please update it – kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/using-a-child-theme/. After updating the theme, issue should be resolved.

YigitJanuary 13, 2018 at 11:20 pm #896971Andy KauthGuestThank you. We are still trying to get the code from our original developer. :(
Would you have an opinion on whether updating the theme could cause any issues at all with any customization by the original developers work or any content on our site? Thanks so much!January 14, 2018 at 5:55 am #897026Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, it’s almost impossible to know if we don’t know what the changes are. To be safe I would copy your site to a staging site and perform the update there first.
Best regards,
RikardJanuary 14, 2018 at 2:49 pm #897096Andy KauthGuestMakes sense. Still trying to get our code.
Appreciate your response.January 15, 2018 at 2:31 am #897300Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, just let us know if you have any further questions for us :-)

RikardJanuary 21, 2018 at 5:37 pm #900399Andy KauthGuestFinally able to get our purchase info. We have included it in the private content section. We are concerned with a few areas of our site. Originally, the “boxes” for image links disappeared. Then we discovered that several buttons are not working. The link for those is also missing (instead of going to our contact page, it refreshes to the same page). We realize (now) that we need to do a theme update. We are curious if you think the update will affect any customization to the site. Thanks! We have registered for an account but thought it might be easier to continue on this thread since we have some info on here already. Username = sunshineandreign
January 22, 2018 at 6:50 am #900644Hi Andy,
Great, glad you got everything sorted with the purchase.
About the problem on the site, we can continue in the this thread or you can start a new one, it’s up to you really. But we need a bit more context to be able to help you out. Which buttons are not working exactly? Did you check the settings for them on the backend? We will likely need access to have a look at the backend so please include admin login details in private.
Best regards,
RikardJanuary 22, 2018 at 10:28 pm #901001Andy KauthGuestSeveral of our call to action buttons. The ability to add a link has disappeared. See private content for links.
January 22, 2018 at 11:25 pm #901034Hey,
We have reset your account manually and inserted your credentials in private content field below.
You are currently using a very old version of Enfold which is not compatible with PHP 7 and you are probably using PHP 7 or newer version on your server. As i recommended earlier, updating the theme should solve the issue – kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/ :)
Cheers!
YigitJanuary 23, 2018 at 12:12 am #901069Andy KauthGuestOkay. What theme are we running? We thought it was Enfold Child and that our developer purchased in the fall of 2016? Also, will updating the theme affect customization?
January 23, 2018 at 1:23 pm #901435Hi,
You are running Enfold, but the version is old, so it would be a good idea to update since it might not be compatible with newer versions of WordPress. Updating might affect things on your site yes, exactly what is very difficult for us to say though. I would recommend that you copy the site to a local or staging environment first and perform the update there, so that you can look for problems there instead of on your production site.

RikardJanuary 23, 2018 at 9:50 pm #901687Andy KauthGuestAppreciate that idea. Traveling a bit this week, but we’ll get on that next week and let you know what turns up.
January 23, 2018 at 10:08 pm #901705Hey!
We will keep the thread open and wait to hear from you. Safe travels!

YigitAugust 1, 2018 at 8:15 pm #992548Hi … hoping this thread is still open. We aren’t able to update to the latest version of our Enfold Child theme. It says we are current at 3.8.4. Isn’t it into the 4s? Thanks!
August 2, 2018 at 6:00 am #992709Hi sunshineandreign,
Could you try updating manually via FTP instead maybe? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update. Latest version of the theme is 4.4.1. If that doesn’t help then please start a new thread on the forum and post admin login details in private so that we can have a closer look.
Best regards,
RikardAugust 2, 2018 at 6:02 pm #992949Andy KauthGuestOkay. We’ll give it a try. We kinda figured we’d have to go that route … Really appreciate your response, and we’ll be in touch if it doesn’t help.

We will keep the thread open and wait to hear from you again :)

YigitAugust 3, 2018 at 4:06 pm #993303Andy KauthGuestWe tried doing this through a backup that we created through our host (Site Ground). It didn’t work. Something about the certificate not being connected to the backup site. No way we want to try any updating without doing it on a backup site first. Any suggestion. We have to do this though FTP as the “simple version” as described in the video is not an option (we don’t have those tabs).
August 6, 2018 at 2:43 pm #993933Hi Andy,
You can create a testing installation by migrating your existing site there using a plugin such as this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/ and you could try updating the theme there to see if it breaks anything.
Regards,
YigitAugust 6, 2018 at 3:37 pm #993954Andy KauthGuestWe already have a backup site where we can perform the test. The issue is that we are unable to update the theme using the simple method or FTP method as described on your site/as described in the link you sent. The simple method isn’t possible as we don’t have the tabs that are shown in the video. The FTP method isn’t possible as FileZilla won’t recognize our backup site as valid (we are guessing). What do you think is the best way to update the theme given we can’t do it via the means you describe in the link. Our WP is updated so we’re confused why the theme just doesn’t allow for the update within WP (a simple click and it’s updated); it is showing it is updated, which it is not. Thanks for your help!
August 6, 2018 at 4:08 pm #993974Hi,
Please login to our support forum and start a new thread under Enfold sub forum and attach WP admin and FTP logins in private content field so we can try updating Enfold for you.
Best regards,
YigitAugust 6, 2018 at 7:23 pm #994046Andy KauthGuestOkay. If we can only do it on our main site (and not the backup), we’ll have to wait until after August 15, as we are currently running several promotions generating leads to our site and don’t want it going down even for a brief time. Thank you.
