    Hi,
I purchased an Envato licence to update my website.
Where I can find the API key requested into my website stuck at version 4.0.7?
Should I install the downloaded zip to update it? Does this will break the website?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hey Angelo,

The update to 5.1.2 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi,

Please read my first post again, those are the methods available for you. You could delete the current install, then upload the new version as you would with new theme though.

We can’t say if your site will be compromised or not, but please keep proper backups in case soemthing should go wrong.

A theme license is valid for life, and you can download a child theme here: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/child-theme/

    Hi Rikard,
I updated the theme via FTP and installed the child theme following the procedure in this link: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/child-theme/

When I activate the child theme it breaks many parts of the website as fonts, sections, maps from google.
I imported the parent theme options, as explained in the link, but seems something is going wrong.

Is there a way to manual recall the needed files of the parent theme, in order to avoid breaking design and functionalities?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hi,

If the problems happens when you activate the child theme, then the content of the child theme is the likely problem. If you should need furher help with that, then please post a link to where we can see the actual problem. Also please post admin WordPress login details in private.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

The website is not public so I can’t share a link.
But in the Envato child theme there’s no codes in the functions.php file to inherit the parent theme settings.

    How to solve please?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hi,

If the child theme is blank then it should act the same as when the parent theme is active, so I can’t give you a solution for that unfortunately. We would have to see the actual problem in order to help you out further.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
