Hi Yigit
Yep, I now have Wordfence running in learning mode and everything seems fine.
Cheers
Jeff
Hi Yigit and @cbentley65
I opened a new thread and supplied login details for you guys to look into this for me.
In the meantime, a little more research on these support pages showed that the culprit may be Wordfence, and in my case it was.
Deactivated Wordfence, went back into the page for editing, and voila, no more spinning wheel.
I should also mention that there’s an iframe bit of coding in the affected pages which I also suspect may not help.
Hopefully this will help others.
Best regards and thanks for the awesome support.
Jeff
Disabled plugins, cleared cache, no joy. Only Wordfence, JetPack and Askimet have ever been installed.
FTP update of Enfold Theme – no joy after clearing cache.
Tested Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
Note this error is now gone, (shortcodes.js?ver=3:1211 Uncaught TypeError: container.isotope is not a function) but the gallery still doesn;t work.
I will post the full listing of the CSS errors in private. I found a 404 error to a jquery call I can’t tell if that is whats tripping up the CSS.
I’ve listed that network error first. its a
Hi Vinnie
I tried what you adevised me and these are the results
1) SuperCache Active: 65/100 on mobile – 75/100 on desktop – user experience 99/100
2) Wordfence falcon engine active: 66/100 – 75/100 – 99/100
Without both 62/100 – 70/100 99 – 99/100
The test told me that i have to optimize Browser caching, to minimize Java script and CSS, delate java and CSS that they stop to see staff above the fold,
but unfortunately i don’t know what they mean :-((
All is good now that I ran a Wordfence scan and restored my core files to the repository version. I was then able to get updated to the most current version of WordPress and the problem went away.
Hope this helps someone else in the same situation!
Hey giorgiosilvia,
Thank you for using Enfold.
I have personally used Wordfence and it works fine on our installation.
Every site is setup in a different way and uses different plugins and different settings so it is best to test it on your installation and see what works best for your site setup.
If you would like to know if a caching plugin works better compared to Wordfence caching there is one way to know activate one of the caching plugin and deactivate Wordfence on your site and run a simple speed test on https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ or http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/
We await to hear the comparison result :)
Best regards,
Vinnie
Hi,
the conflict turned out to be with Wordfence Plugin. Any advise for any other security plugins i could use?
Thanks for your help
Yep, that’s exactly it! I’ve cleared caches in Firefox and Chrome, also Safari, also cleared Wordfence cache and no joy.
Hi, it’s not a problem, but tp prevent it i ask one thing:
1) do you know if Wordfence Falcon Engine works fine on Enfold? Because on their page they describe it as if it was better than than normal caching plugin even if it’s a security plug in. So i’d like to understand from you if it’s the best to use it just for security or i can use it instead of other caching plugs in.
it’s described here
thanks to much
Hi Wajdi,
Great and thanks for the feedback. Hoping for a WordFence fix asap too :-)
Cheers!

The issues I’ve had with avia have been resolved with one or more of the following if kriesi suggestions have been tried:
1. shut off wordfence firewall
2. replace all /wp-includes/js/tinymce files manually via ftp
3. re-install enfold and / or wordpress core via ftp

I’m not running wordfence. As mentioned, I’ve went through ALL their suggestions and I still can’t save my page.
If they are having an issue and working on it, it’d be nice to know, rather than to be left hanging on what to do :(
a few problems found on the forum over the past few days have been resolved with one or more of the following actions.
1. update to latest version of wordpress / enfold
2. disable wordfence firewall if you are using it
3. check file permissions ( function-set-avia-ajax.php has been set to 200 in a few instances ) and reset to normal
4. re-install enfold via FTP
I don’t know what wordfence is, so I don’t think that is the issue, but thanks.
HI all, Thanks for the feedback. The proposed Plug In is not able to present Google Forms, only Google Documents. And the Hint of BeyondBOLD was valid. I deactived wordfence, and voila the editor is working fine. I have now a workaround, I edit the pages with google form than activate again the wordfence. I hope the issue will be solved soon, so that both your theme and wordfence can co-exit without problems. By the way, Your theme is excelent, I’m making a lot of publicity in the circle of my collegues (Freelancer in the IT Domain).
Regards, Wajdi
Hi,
We are very sorry for the late response. FYI, bumping the thread will push it back to the end of the queue and we won’t be able to respond it immediately. Please refrain from replying to your own thread until a moderator put up a reply.
Regarding the issue at hand, please follow the instructions here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/having-problems-after-updating-to-wordpress-4-5-please-read-this-first/
And if you installed the WordFence plugin, do the following:
if you are running wordfence disable the firewall, that has helped a few people while the good folks here with kriesi work on the fix.
Another item which has produced relief for some is to manually upload the core files in /wp-includes/js/tinymce/ via ftp from a fresh download of the core wordpress files.
Best regards,
Ismael

Our site (www.floridagunexchange.com) was recently a victim of malware, which was identified by WordFence. There were two files found that were malicious in nature, and were removed. Since doing that, the site hasn’t been functioning correctly. The top slider isn’t working, amongst many other things throughout the website. I’ve since deleted the site, re-downloaded wordpress, reinstalled the theme and tried to import an xml I downloaded from the subdomain I had initially created the site on. The xml would install, so I reverted to a backup (which is having the issue currently).
The website should look like this with all the images and text appearing correctly – new.floridagunexchange.com.
I’ve tried everything I can think of and am at wits end. Please help!
Try adding this to your wp-config.php
define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false ); //<——— ADD THIS LINE
needs to be above
/** Sets up WordPress vars and included files. */
require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’);
I tried adding this to the wp-config file and that didn’t do anything. I left permissions alone and resolved the issue by disabling the firewall in Wordfence. @beyondbold called it.
Hi,
@thehijinx: If I am not mistaken, WordFence modifies the .htaccess file so deleting the plugin might not work completely. Try to delete the .htaccess file then go to the Settings > Permalinks panel to regenerate it.
Best regards,
Ismael
Thank you, BeyondBOLD! You rescued me after a day of agony trying to figure this out.
I can also confirm that the Avia advanced editor
spins when the Wordfence firewall is active
works when the Wordfence firewall is disabled
File permissions on the plugin Wordfence? or theme…
I’ll try it, just not sure what you mean.
It’s worth a go.
Andy
two thoughts while support takes a look
1. do you have an htaccess file protecting the wp-admin folder?
2. did you set up wordfence? there seems to be an issue with the firewall and enfold.
Hi!
WordFence, is not the solution I am afraid. Even if they give a quick solution, that is not the end result and how it can work the best.
I do not think it is related with the theme, at all to be honest.
It is something more related to server or a plugin and how they took access.
Do you have something nulled installed?
Regards,
Basilis
I deleted my Wordfence, Avia Editor is still broken… Spinning.
I’m gonna add it back and play with the fire wall… you can see I have tried everything. Hmm.
Here we go.
if you have not yet, load the wordfence plugin ( with firewall DISABLED ) and run a scan on your site. this SHOULD help detect bad code.
make sure you go through the settings to ensure you are scanning as much as possible.
good luck.
*edit: this is a good place to start, not the be-all, end-all of security solutions. :)

I have tested and no change. the wordfence firewall seems to break the avia advanced editor.

“Spinning wheel on modify page, ajax call”
I was just about to post to this… Im not sure who to inform, Wordfence or you guys but Ill confirm what @babayard is saying.
If Wordfences new firewall is enabled you cannot modify any pages because the admin-ajax.php is flagged error 403 when checking the console.
I had not tried the “learning mode” then switching to Firewall-enabled again. But I can confirm disabling it resolves this problem.
Good luck guys :)
Hey guys, looks like this was a problem with the HTACCESS file and Wordfence configuration. Think I got it sorted out. You can ignore this. Thanks.
