    Hey
after installing Enfold theme, Wordfence shows me, I need to upgrade the plug in “” … there is no such plug-in in the plug-in repository…

    The Plugin “” needs an upgrade ( -> 6.2.2).

    Plugin Name:
    Changelog: http://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-wp-the-wordpress-parallax-slider/1362246/changelog
    Current Plugin Version:
    New Plugin Version: 6.2.2
    Severity: Critical
    Status New

    Update includes security-related fixes.

You need to upgrade “” to the newest version to ensure you have any security fixes the developer has released. Click here to update now.

    How can I fix it?

    Thanks

    Enfold Support,
I just updated a few sites from 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 to version 4.0.4 and still I have the same exact error. So, I guess the new update did not resolve this issue. Again, I am not using WordFence & all my plugins are up to date.
    Thanks

this is not just a wordfence error/issue. I am having issues with sucuri, ithemes and wordfence. I reinstalled and updated latest enfold and still same problems.

I have a website that was super slow on the backend and throwing the same layerslider errors and warnings in Wordfence and Dashboard home as described by others in this thread. I disabled the unused layerslider in the child theme’s function file and the backend has already shown improvement in speed.

I have one other site that is showing similar problems, but it is actually using layerslider. I’m reluctant to upgrade other sites using an older version of Enfold until the layerslider issue is resolved. Is there an ETA on when this bug will be fixed?

    #769463

i think that layerslider (kreatura media) itself have backtracked there 6.2.2
on enfold 4.0.4 is definitly only the 6.2.0

did your layerslider not work as before – is it only the warning of wordfence ?
i have no problems even with older layerslider versions. So that little red update notice did upset you?

be a little patient for the next enfold update – as far as i know Kriesi (Christian) is in contact with kreatura media to help them getting rid of that little inconsistency.

Whoops – sorry – I see another thread addressing this. Thank you.

    Hi,
This is a new thread as requested here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/layerslider-wp-12/#post-769224
I have the same problem as a number of people with Layer Slider WP not seeming to update properly even after upgrading Enfold to 4.0.4 – On this site http://marsworthfunrun.co.uk/ but also on another 4 client sites using Enfold

    I have:

    • Cleared the server static cache (master flush at Siteground)
    • Cleared all dynamic cache
    • I even switch caching off temporarily at Siteground in my control panel
    • Cleared browser cache (chrome)

And still I see the red update indicator but no update available, the Layer Slider WP system status indicates it is running on 6.2.0 and I see a bunch of error message on Wordfence similar to the error messages I saw when performing plugin update.

PLEASE NOTE: I have for now disabled Layer Slider WP with add_theme_support(‘deactivate_layerslider’); in my child theme function PHP so you will need to take that line out to replicate the issue.

I don’t actually need Layer slider WP as I don’t use it on any of those sites. Can you please help get to the bottom of this and fix it as i am concerned about the security of those sites if this bundled plugin is not updated properly.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue.

I have the latest version of Enfold and it’s happening on all installs. I’ve just deactivated Wordfence and the plugin update notification disappears. “No updates available”. As soon as I reinstall Wordfence, it reappears to show there’s a plugin update available and a Wordfence generated warning that layer slider needs to be updated to 6.2.2. – critical update.

    Dear Enfold people!

So my Wordfence has been showing me a message that a plugin needs an update, but this plugin isn’t in the plugins folder:

    Wordfence update error

There is no name of the plugin, nor does it exist in the plugins window but there is a link to a slider which I guess is the slider that is bundled with Enfold???

At the same time Wordfence was showing a live warning:

    Wordfence Live Blocking

I have been ignoring this and now I saw there is a new update to Enfold so I thought maybe this had something to do with the Advanced Layerslider that needed an update which is bundled with Enfold. When updating I got these error messages:

    Wordpress update

So my questions is, has this something to do with Enfold and the Layerslider? Becuase this is happening on all my sites created with Enfold. Or have all my sites been hacked?!?!

    Thank you!

    Hi,
When you say js errors in the console where are you looking? In the Wordfence activity?

I am using LayerSlider and need to use it moving forward. Disabling LayerSlider is not a solution. The error messages don’t seem to affect normal functioning of Enfold theme and all its components so far. They may be just another false positive. Perhaps Yigit can clarify on this.
By the way, I have tried manual FTP upload and wordfence rescan does not see the message. But I cannot verify if that solves the problem just yet until another plugin update as the error messages appeared every time a plugin is updated.

As suggested by Yigit, disabling Layerslider in the functions.php file works for me in 4.0.4. It eliminates the slider, eliminates the erroneous WP plugin update needed, and I suspect will curtail Wordfence false positive notifications. Thank you!

    Basilis,

Glad to see Kriesi is working with LayerSlider.

Maybe Kriesi can also work closely with Wordfence (the industry standard in security).

    Thank you!

    Text from Wordfence as follows:
    Critical Problems:
    * The Plugin “” needs an upgrade ( -> 6.2.1).
    Update includes security-related fixes. http://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-wp-the-wordpress-parallax-slider/1362246/changelog

..and needless to say, that link takes you to a blank page.

    Hi Enfold peeps,

After all the efforts, it seems the dreaded issue has returned. Wordfence, Updates and Plugins are all again showing UPDATES, with nothing to update. I have added the workaround: add_theme_support(‘deactivate_layerslider’); again, but this is a pain in the a***!

    On ALL my Enfold sites
Any thoughts, or further workk going on?

    Regards
    Stevo

    Hi,

We’ll notify Kriesi regarding the issue. The latest version of the plugin should be included in the next patch of the theme.

    Hi there,
I’m having an issue, where I can’t save or close a text box created with ALB.
I can see the link, ending with action=#save or action=#close however nothing happens.

I have the latest theme, and WordPress, have de-activated the Wordfence Plugin, and purged cache but this still happens. I also found a thread saying it could be due to running PHP 7.1, however I have only 5.6 set up on my server.

    Can you help?

    DEVGEN,

Ah the plot thickens. I keep getting alerts from WordFence about a “LayerSlider WP” update but I cannot update because the license it tied to Enfold. Maybe Enfold needs to provide the update and maybe, just maybe that will solve the problem.

“LayerSlider WP” for Enfold is v6.1.6 but the current version is v6.2.0. Maybe that’s the fix.

    Enfold, what’s the word?

    Hi MBarkhau,

You don’t need to buy LayerSlider WP, but there has been an update to that slider, that’s why Wordfence is making a notification. We are working on incorporating LayerSlider update to our theme update. If you are not using LayerSlider, you should not worry about that notice, unless there is an issue with your website. Is there?

Let us know if you have any more questions.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

Hi, i have a Problem with the plugin WP Slider, this was included in you theme enfold – i do not use the wp slider and so i don`t buy it! My problem is Wordfence need a update of WP Slider … . I have contact the team of WP Slider, they told me that this is a problem of enfold an the author of the theme!!
What can i do now? How can you helf me?
    Thank you very much …

Wordfence has become a must-have wordpress plugin. Given a recent issue on the false positive in Wordfence after Enfold 4.0.x update and this issue, perhaps a closer relationship between Kriesi and Wordfence should be established and more thorough tests with Wordfence plugin should be done before updated version release. 8-)

    #765824

Hi Stevo: I updated Wordfence also this morning, there were no issues other than the warning that Layer Slider needed an update. I also use the Enfold Theme.

Wordpress also has a dot for Plugins showing on the left hand column.
You are right, the Layer Slider does not appear in the Plugins sections ( I don’t know why it doesn’t)
so no one can update it.
LayerSlider Support Forum shows even their paid customers are having difficulty trying to update the Layer Sldier Plugin, so its not just us who have, the plugin coded into the Enfold theme – with no way of updating it.
That’s all I got so far. We’re hanging on waiting for Kreisi to updated the Layer Slider Plugin which I believe he is working on right now. Thanks for your input.

    #765785

    Hey!

We would like to inform you that our devs are already aware of the warning.
LayerSlider team released an update and our devs are working on integrating it to Enfold.

In the meantime, please disable Wordfence or refer to this post – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/deactivate-the-layerslider-plugin/ to deactivate LayerSlider if you are not using it.

    Regards,
    Yigit

I just updated the Wordfence plugin, and got this feedback (always unpleasant). It appears to all be LAYERSLIDER related. Please excuse all the ***hidden***/ stuff – just for privacy:

Warning: fopen(***hidden***/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/layerslider.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in ***hidden***/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4783

It updated OK, but doesn’t feel good!!

    ~

I have also sent the following to Wordfence support:

I received the multiple ‘WARNING’ text in the Wordfence update window after the recent update was complete.
I have also attached a screenshot of the WARNING from Wordfence SCAN.

PLEASE NOTE: You might be aware that there is an ongoing issue with Layerslider plugin in Enfold theme, which WORDFENCE had alerted users to. Nothing sinister amiss: Layerslider is bundled free with Enfold and sits dormant unless activated. The current problem is that it cannot be updated normally, it has to be pushed as a template update by ENFOLD. It should not be picked up by update scans. We’re currently awaiting a fix from the Enfold team. So, Wordfence is throwing up a Layerslider plugin update alert, but it’s blank – literally “”.

    My questions therefore, are:
    1. Are these warnings all related to LAYERSLIDER?
    2. Are they critical, or just warnings as the plugin/theme is not functioning correctly?
    3. Is there anything Wordfence can do about this alert – possibly to ignore it?
    4. have you heard anything from either Layerslider (https://kreaturamedia.com/) or Enfold (http://kriesi.at/)?

    Hope this helps!

    Hey!

If you disable Wordfence, you will not have such issues.
Please be patience while Kriesi is working for the fix.

That, although is not a serious issue and rather a false warning because of WordFence.

    Thank you

    #765579

Thank you Yigit – that is the most sensible answer I’ve received yet. There should be an “Options Button” on the demo content installs which could have avoided this problem, this is a suggestion. I am not a coder, so I don’t want to mess with php, (as probably 90% of Kriesi customers) so it would be better to offer it as an option, not a coded part of the theme. That is all I am saying.

As far as the alerts from Wordfence Security Plugin, I am glad they alert us to issues with Updates, its part of good security practices to Update WordPress, Plugins and Themes as soon as they are available.
Let’s hope the update comes soon.
