Topic: How to do "Special News Slider"?!

I searched quite a whole time for a content type, that allows a special news slider like on https://www.bggoettingen.de/ , but wasn’t able to create it within Enfold. Is it possible to do this or do I really need an extra plugin for this kind of slider?

Hi experts,
after updating my older site (first posts are from 2009) to Enfold – because it is the best theme I found so far and you guys are awesome here – I ran into some problems with old posts with these galleries.
The galleries are looking bad, by clicking an image it opens a new post with this image and you have to click again to open it in the lightbox.
I thought it would be easier to get rid of these plugin at all but I would have to edit every post and search for the images by hand.
I tried to do the mentioned action somewhere here in the forum but I could not find where to put that code “class=’lightbox’ rel=’prettyPhoto[%GALLERY_NAME%]'”
Mhm, what would you suggest?

I was searching for a way to have the “Ken Burns” effect with Enfolds Full Width Easy Slider.
I found this article but was not able to implement it on my website.

Can anyone shed any light into how to make it work?
I do not want to install a slider plugin as they seem to be easy targets for hackers!!

Hi Mike,

I had enfold set up on as a dev site and had bluehost make the transfer today to overwrite the existing site that was horribly broken. The site loads fine as is, https://www.stonewoodtavernpeabody.com, but when you search for the site via search engine – you get the error message stated above. This is only when searching for the site.

If I re-upload the theme, will I lose all I have done?

Also, in terms of the php, this is the config – PHP 7.0 (Single php.ini) [Beta, check site functionality for compatibility after enabling]
Same as PHP 7.0, but all subdirectories will use ~/public_html/php.ini

Everything seems to be fine on the backend. When i type in the URL manually its fine, it just isn’t working through a search engine.

At one point, i deleted the frontpage permanently. My thought process was being tidy, but I am now realizing it’s importance. (my first wordpress build) – this could possibly make it so it is not indexing correctly?

I’m using Enfold a long time (V4.1.2 today) and everything is fine so far.

Today I received an security related email generated by the WP plugin “Shield” from iControlWP:

Shield detected files on your site which are not recognised.
This is part of the Hack Protection module for the WordPress Unrecognised File Scanner. [Weitere Informationen]

The following files are considered “unrecognised” and should be examined:

As an Android developer I have little to no knowledge of the website specific functionalities and would like to know if any of those recommended removals would break anything in my Enfold.

EDIT:
After some research I found out that this is most propably caused by the webhoster platform Plesk.
Deleting the files didn’t break anything on my site.
The files

../wp-includes/theme-uploader.php
appeared again the next day,

The Shield plugin now offers a way to exclude trusted files from scan via “Hack Protection” – “Unrecognised Files Scanner” – “File Exclusions”

Sorry for the late reply. You posted a lot of questions and they left me kind of confused to be honest with you. If you are trying to copy the demo page then I think the easiest way would be to enable debug mode: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enable-advanced-layout-builder-debug/, that will give you the ability to import demo pages by shortcode. If you want to do that then simply link to the pages you want to import here and we’ll give you the shortcodes for them. Then you can see for yourself how they are built.

If you are looking to hire a freelancer then we recommend contacting Codable, or try searching for someone on Hubstaff or Upwork for instance.

Hi, i buy this theme a while ago, but for one reason or other, i dont use it XD, now i have to do 5 sites, i understand, that i must buy 1 lincense for each site, no problem with that, but for now im building my first site to my personal Brand.

i fix search problem with a puglin to search, but i have 15 days learning about how to custom enfold, and this fórums help a lot until a purchase link message comes in a post XD

I just reread my last reply to you and am not sure if it clear that we still want to hide the magnifying glass icon. When you view the site, you’ll see the search box widget below the slider looks like it has TWO magnifying glasses. The one with the red ‘splash’ behind it is the image we want to use to replace the Enfold magnifying glass icon. Is this doable?

Hi Rikard:

I hid the actual header and used a full width submenu and some color sections to sort of make my own. I added some other basic stuff for this particular site then used the Save Entry as Template function. That makes it pretty quick to set up a new page, and updating the menu isn’t a problem. HOWEVER if I ever need to make a change to other parts of that “header”, I would have to make the same changes in a bazillion pages.

A while back Josue gave me a little piece of code that I can paste into a child theme’s functions.php file so rendered html can be used by any or all pages of a site. Unfortunately that won’t work as well for this site due to the full width submenu I used, which appears above the primary color section that’s common to all the inside pages. Using this method would prevent me from being able to edit that menu within WP.

Anyway I just thought, since the search result page is common to all Enfold powered sites even if it’s not really used, that Kriesi would allow the ALE to be used with it like Pages and Posts.

Hi,

I don’t think I’m explaining myself very well. I don’t actually want to change the width of the image container. I still want it to be responsive—I just want to change the ratio so that my photos don’t get cut off at the top and bottom. I know it’s possible because I was able to change the code when I was running the regular Enfold theme, but not when I am running a child theme.

I added the plug-in suggested in this post and it worked on some posts, but not all of them.

Many people are having “Serve scaled images” troubles with gtmetrix/Pagespeed.
After making some research i noticed that this is because you can use same element in different column widths. For example i could have frontpage with gallery inside 1/3 column and gallery -page where gallery is full width.

Problem is that enfold uses same image sizes for elements throughout the site. Thumbnails size must then be adjusted according to the biggest images.

My proposed solution is that you could select which wordpress thumbnail size would be used for each (masonry)gallery element. different image sizes could be defined by programming or using “easy image size” plugin and generated with regenerate thumbnails plugin. You already have added handy Screen options -tab which could be logical place for this option.

Then everyone could create needed image sizes, regenerate them and choose close enough size for gallery thumbnails. And Google would be happy => sites would rank well => customer would be happy => we would be happy :)
