Yes, a caching plugin can speed up the performance as well as minify and image compression plugins.

Hey!

I’m not very experienced with multisite installation but I think the easiest way is to use the WordPress export/import options to add your existing content to the new site. It’s also possible to have different headers since the themes are separate from each multisite.

Hey detectkit!

You can change the excerpt by going to the post/page in question and click Sceen Option in the top righthand corner, then select Excerpt. You will then see an input field for Excerpt under the post/page input field.

I see what you mean, you could set the meny section to a solid background colour, but that would mess up your slider a bit. Parts of the slider would not be visible…could you try and resize the spinning background image?

First step to loading your images faster would be to install an image compressing plugin like Smush.it. If you want to display different images for different screens it’s possible to do so with CSS.
