March 23, 2024 at 7:19 pm in reply to: Old folder /uploads/avia_posts_css causes error that breaks site? #1438076
Hello Mike,
In this case versions before 5.3 had a different directory structure, typically updating the theme should have corrected this, but you were using WP Rocket cache which contenued to look the file in the old location,
Maybe you misunderstood my point: the thing is wp-rocket is NOT looking in te old location but in the new location:
wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/avia_posts_css/post-17.css – can not be foundThat error is about the new location, not the old one!
It’s probably just me, but I have already been working on 2 topics to bring this problem to Enfold support’s attention. But you don’t understand my point, I probably can’t explain it properly then…
March 20, 2024 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Broken Enfold layout after updating a random plugin #1437690This has become very complicated, but It seems I might have find the solution.
Please let’s start this topic from point zero!– I have updated a plugin, websdesign was broken again after that, amd the reasson is that one URl can not be found after updating a plugin:(404):
wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/avia_posts_css/post-17.css?ver=ver-1710925631Now I discovered that I also have an a second folder with a /post-17.css file in it:
/wp-content/uploads/avia_posts_cssI have read in another topic that this folder was prior Enfold version 5.3 and was only kept for cache backward compatibility, and is no longer used and can be deleted.
So I tried this: I deleted the folder /wp-content/uploads/avia_posts_css from 2 websites (cleared cache) and then updated a plugin again. Result: no issues anymore, no more broken website design after updating a plugin!
Could this have been the issue then: a “double” file named /post-17.css in 2 different /avia_posts_css folders, somehow meshing up things?
Update: I could not let my website be broken any longer so I cleared the cache and the issue is not visible anymore.
How to proceed??
Hello Mike,
Today I have updated plugins again.
– On one website I tried it with Enfold>Performance>Unique Timestamp Of Merged Files And WP Object Cache Bug set to Disabling unique timestamps only. It did not solve the issue, same problems again, background images are invisible.
– On another website I tried Enfold;Performance>Unique Timestamp Of Merged Files And WP Object Cache Bug set to Fix WP bug, disable timestamps. Same result, it did not solve the issue either.
On option-webdesign.nl I get this error in the dev console:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 () post-206.css:1
https://www.option-webdesign.nl/wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/avia_posts_css/post-206.css?ver=ver-1710774338I will not clear the cache on http://www.option-webdesign.nl now so that you can see the error yourself.
This is now a problem for me for some time now, Enfold support and WP-Rocket support are not able to solve this for me?
Thank you Ismael,
I have read the description first and I read about a “rapidly growing folder ../wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia.”
So I took al look in this folder and I see that it is around 17MB in size.
Is this normal? And in my case, which option do you think is best to try first:
– disable adding unique timestamps only
– fix wp bug, ad unique timestamps
– fix wp bug, disable unique timestamps- This reply was modified 8 months, 2 weeks ago by Alwin.
– Of course the slider looks fine on your end, that’s because I don’t leave the error there, but empty the cache and preload it so that the error is not visible to the website visitors, so not to you either… seems logical to me!
– The wp-rocket link in your previous response is about Load CSS Asynchronously. I don’t use this function at all in wp-rocket.
I have now determined that the following files indeed change after updating a plugin:
/wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/enfold_child.css?ver=65ec5d4c20db5
/wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/avia_posts_css/post-17.css?ver=ver-1709989446After updating a plugin the part after/?… is changing. The support team from wp-rocket think this the causing the issue that breaks my Enfold design in the full width slider sections.
I can’t figure out why I have never had this issues before (on 5 Enfold sites).
I like to know: have file names always been changed after updating a plugin? Or is this something that’s happening since a recent Enfold update?Hello Ismael,
(I mean the full width slider on the homepage of http://www.einberg.net)I am still having big issues with this; every plugin updates means a broken Enfold layout somewhere…!
I have a long talk about this with the wp-rocket support team and this what wp-rocket came up with:
“We noticed something that may be still causing problems, and it’s the filenames of the theme files.
The files such as /wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia/avia_posts_css/post-26.css may have unexpected changes in the filename from the Enfold side, which are not synchronized with WP Rocket”.So are they correct about this? Do you think this could be causing the issue?
Hello Ismael,
My “solution” did not solve the issue completely. Now I have a problem with the Full Width Layer slider being invisible now and then. When I refresh the page in my browser, the FWLS is visible again, but at first visit it is not.
I think the option “Load javascript deferred” in wp-rocket is causing this issue, so I turned this option off now.
I just have to wait now for plugin updates before knowing if my issues are solved or not…. so pleae leave this topic open for now,
Best Wishes,
AlwinHello Ismael,
You can’t be serious about this, can you?
Your advice is that every time before I update plugins I deactivate my wp-rocket plugin and also turning off the theme’s file compression settings?
And then enable them again after updating the plugins? That is no way to update and maintain multiple websites, it is absolutely not workable in the long term!
It’s not a server problem at all, I think it’s an Enfold problem.
With the help of wp-rocket support I came to the following solution:
– Turning off all the theme’s CSS and Javascript File Merging And Compression options under Enfold>Performance
– Let wp-rocket take care of minimizing css and javascript by enabling these options in wp-rocket.That solved the issue.
However, that leaves the following questions open:
– Why does the Enfold>Performance>CSS and Javascript File Merging And Compression option suddenly cause this problem? It has worked well for years in combination with wp-rocket!
– Has Enfold perhaps changed something about the CSS and Javascript File Merging And Compression option in theme options? Maybe Enfold now clears its own cache every time a plugin is updated, and that wasn’t the case before? This seems to me to be the only logical explanation.
February 29, 2024 at 1:54 pm in reply to: Broken Enfold layout after updating a random plugin #1435879Update: I just updated a plugin on http://www.einberg.net with the option delete old CSS and JS files under Enfold->Performance enabled.
It made the problem much worse… the whole design of the site was broklen untill I cleared the wp-rocket cache.
Please see this screenshot of how the site was broken (private content box)

February 29, 2024 at 1:35 pm in reply to: Broken Enfold layout after updating a random plugin #1435877Hello Rikard,
No, that option is disabled at my websites. But it was always disabled and I never had this issues before.
Alwin
Thanks for the help :)

AlwinHello Mike,
What if I want to use my UpdraftPlus backup plugin to restore the site in 3 years? I don’t backup WordPress core files with UpdraftPlus.
The workflow would be like this:– install a new fresh up to date wordpress
– upload updraftplus plugin
– upload updraftplus backup files
– perform a restore with updraftplusSo in this case I have to install an up to date WordPress first.
Would that be a problem?Oke than kyou Rikard, that’s just what I wanted to check :)
Best Wishes,
AlwinWhen I remove those code then I only have the piwikpro and GA code left? I have to place them in the header using the code that you say I should delete? I don;’t understand, sorry…
It seems to be working fine with my code!
Hello Mike,
Thank you so much for the help and great support always from the Enfold team :)
Unfortunately I don’t seem to have found the cause after all. On my other computer Windows scale is just set to 100% and the website vibrates in Edge and Chrome…
Best Wishes,
AlwinHello Mike,
Because the website I am building is indeed on a local server, I have recreated the page on which the problem occurs on a live server.
See link details in the private content box below.I disabled all browser extensions and so on but nothing helped. Also, other websites I have build with other themes that don;t use the Enfold theme but do have a slideshow, don’t have this issue. So the issue seems Enfold related.
Also, it seems that the option to set a custom scale size in Windows 11 System>Displays settings affects whether or not the webpage is vibrating. A higher setting than 100% in combination with a chrome browser gives a high chance of vibrations. At 100% the vibrations are gone!
Since more than 90% of people use a chrome browser, and also the custom scale in Windows is quite often increased these days (especially on high resolution screens) I still think this is an issue you guys should look into?
Update:
I just found out that the vibration seems to depends on the used browser.
So far I have only looked in the Edge browser, where the vibration is clearly visible. In Firefox, however, the vibration is completely absent and everything just stands still.
In Google Chrome, however, the vibration is clearly visible again.
So it seems that the problem should be in chrome based browser.
Update 2: I checked on my Andriod tablet in Google Chrome. Using the tablet in vertical view the vibration is absent. Using the tablet in horizental view the vibration is vissible.
Browser dependent and screen resolution dependent…?
Anyway, in the most widely used browser, Google Chrome, there is an issue!
Update:
Hello Ismael,
Here is a video clip link to my website:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/09da0z602cvf7cy/Desktop-1682327916818.webm?dl=0Please concentrate on the text below the slideshow; you see it vibrating every 2 seconds.
Same for the Enfold demo; it is vibrating (less visible then on my website) every 5 seconds:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ta2i2amvo8zb0mt/Desktop-1682328286709.webm?dl=0I hope you guys see it now; everbody here at the office does… :)
The problem with this issue is that when pieces of text vibrate slightly, this is very user-unfriendly for the reader.
Thanks,
AlwinHello Mike,
Thank you for your help! My local hosted website is online again now, the url and login changend so please look at the private content box under this reply.
The problem is not in the slideshow itself, but in all the elements below the slideshow, so on the rest of the page!
If you want to take another look at the Enfold demo I linked, then scroll down to the phrase “Traveling was never easier!” is approximately at the top of the screen and the slideshow itself is therefore no longer visible. If you now wait a few seconds until the photo is switched in the slideshow, you will see a slight vibration in the text. But the vibration can also be seen in the buttons (like the button called All destinations) in the slideshow element itself.
On my own website, however, the effect is much more disturbing. If you look at the text “Fotograaf Groningen bedrijfsfotografie” and the text below it (Home page) you will see it vibrate every time a photo changes in the slideshow. I set the slideshow to 2 seconds so you can see it better and faster, but at 5 seconds the same thing happens.
KInd regards,
AlwinHello Mike,
Yes we can close this topic.
Thank you very much for the great support :)
AlwinHello Mike,
Thank you for your fast reply :)
I used your code and it solved the issue!
I just wonder now why I did not have the same issue before on my other Enfold websites? I am not using block editor on any of my sites, and the code from the block editor you mention was not edited by me?
Thanks,
AlwinHere is a link to my site (see private content).
I have removed the code to remove the underlines in the text so you can see the issue from start. The underlined links are in the widgets, in the socket and in the text on the Contact page.Thank you for the good explanation Niko :)
Hello Niko,
Ha, so it is only working on mobile view by deafutl, correct?
Would be nice to have the options to set it myself to swipe or not on different screen sizes. Any change a future Enfold update will provide that options?
For now I am very happy with the swipe option now working on mobiles :)
Thanks,
AlwinI’m assuming a Masonry Gallery would work with swipe now?
For example on https://www.einberg.nl/boerencamping-sauerland-svr/
But swipe doesn’t work in a Masonry Gallery?
I have updated my Enfold themes and lightbox images cannot swipe, so it seems not activated by default?
Haha, well, all my websites have an almost 100% score in GTmetrix, which is not that difficult in itself.
But indeed, the favicon.ico file is always loaded last and there is always a lot of time between loading the penultimate item and the favicon.
Probably an Enfold thing? I just uploaded a favicon in the relevant Enfold settings.
The screenshot ios from the Edge browser, so yes Chrome.
I wil take a deeper look at the other Open Sans font with cyrilic characters on my website.
