Hey Frederic!
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Here’s a workaround to add a background image. Go to edit the Grid Row and in the Section ID field add an ID; for example grid1. Then go to Quick CSS under the General Styling tab in the theme options and add the following code:
#grid1 { background: url('http://digital-photography-school.com/wp-content/uploads/flickr/2746960560_8711acfc60_o.jpg'); }
You will need to change the URL to the URL of your image. You can also set the minimum Grid Row height in the Grid Row height settings.

Try adding the following code in the Quick CSS field under the General Styling tab in the theme options:
.main_color.container_wrap_first.container_wrap.fullsize { width: 100%; }
Let me know if it works.

Add the following code in the Quick CSS field under the General Styling tab in the theme options:
.html_elegant-blog .more-link { margin: 30px auto 30px auto; }
Best regards,
JordanHi rikv!
Glad that you were able to upload the theme via FTP.
That error is usually due to memory allocation being less than what is needed. You try increasing the memory allocated to PHP https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP and also the max execution time http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-fatal-error-maximum-execution-time-exceeded-in-wordpress/ .

The general way used to find the classes would be to use a developer tool such as Chrome Developer Tools and every browser has it’s own. https://developer.chrome.com/devtools It may be a little tedious at first but there is no way to know all the CSS classes of elements by heart.
Finally to change the size of the cart symbol, you are looking to change the font-size.
.cart_dropdown_link span { font-size: 20px; }

Did the way described at http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/child-theme-translations/ not work for you? I’m not quite understanding why you are looking for an alternate way, instead of the recommended method. What issues are you having?
Best regards,
JordanHi Joan!
Sorry there is no Maintenance Mode built in with the theme. There are many plugins you can use to achieve this and simply show a message that your site is “Under Construction”.

JordanHi!
Try the following CSS:
.logo-text { font-size: 20px; font-weight: bold; top: -150px; }
Adjust the font-size as you wish.
Cheers!
JordanHey!
Good to know! Enjoy the rest of your day.

Looks like your site is down and is causing a server. Please login using a FTP client or if your hosting provider uses a cPanel to access the theme files and delete the line of code you added to the functions.php file.
Let us know once you have done this.
Best regards,
JordanHi thatryan!
I am not sure I am completely following. Which images are you looking to change the size of? Could you explain what you want to achieve.
Cheers!
JordanHi pantoni!
Follow the instructions to update the theme manually via FTP: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Let me know how it goes.

The color of the menu links is tied with the Logo Area secondary font color under the General Styling tab. Try changing the color there and let me know.

JordanHi!
Thanks for getting back to us.
Yes you need to add the unique ID using the Section ID field on each grid row element on all the pages with the issue. You only need to add the code once in the functions.php file. Save then clear your browser cache and refresh your pages.

JordanHi Keith!
Glad you figured it out! Your code is correct, just ensure that those fields you have hidden are also not hidden on the you wanted them to show up on.
Cheers!
