Hey Vinay! Thank you… In my style.css I see this scary message:

“There are 3 errors which must be fixed before you can update this file.” with a message about the site breaking if I ignore this and update anyway.

Can you use the login credentials provided please and check on that file too? I tried adding it to quick css but as you probably already know, it doesn’t seem to help when placed there.

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Victoria!

in reply to: Images on Sidebar Not Centered in Mobile or in ALB #930192

I am now seeing that the links I pasted using the “link” command on here didn’t actually paste in my original post.

Sidebar on page created with standard wordpress editor working well on desktop (centered text and images) but looks bad on mobile:
    http://www.thomashenthorne.com/kentfield/

Sidebar created using ALB looks bad on desktop and mobile, not centered:
    http://www.thomashenthorne.com/belvedere-homes-for-sale/

Sorry, will paste links from now on just by pasting them instead of using “link” in the post box toolbar. Now I understand why you were confused!

    Thanks
    Rob

Victoria / mods, is it possible that this solution in my thread from 2 years ago somehow caused this?

Hoping you can log into my staging site and figure out how to fix it.
    Thanks

Sorry about that! It was the post you were working on, but sorry I forgot to include that link to the post and the credentials for my staging site:

The page where you can see this problem in action is in private comments. Thanks!!!! Rob

    Hi Victoria!

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately that code did not change anything. And I’m not a css coder but it looks like that code just is trying to address the mobile view. Perhaps my original post wasn’t clear.

    – On all pages in mobile, the images (and text, you are correct) is not centered. – problem
    – On pages created in standard editor (e.g. Kentfield Homes for sale), the sidebar images and text are nicely centered – perfect
    – On pages created in ALB, sidebar images and text are not centered on mobile OR desktop.

So need to fix – all pages on mobile and ALB pages on desktop.

    Does that make sense?

    Thank you!!!!!!!

    Best
    Rob

PS Feel free to log into staging site and see if you can implement the fixes / play around there… you can’t hurt anything in staging. :)

Yes please close, thanks. I think I can do it with a slider and a css code of no_display.

    Thanks,

OK thanks Basilis… I thought I saw a thread where there was functionality within Enfold…

    have a nice day,

    Hi Yigit,

Thanks much. Sorry to keep asking questions on this …. but how would I know if comments.php has changed? I just don’t want to end up in a situation where I copy this over and then update and that crashes the site in the future.

    Thanks!
    Rob

in reply to: Change "Leave a Reply" text in comments box #926331

    Hi Yigit!

Thanks for responding so fast! I was thinking that might be a way to do it, but with all the changes being made to Enfold, is there a possibility copying that to the child theme could mess up something with a future update? Any downsides to copying it there?

    Thanks!
    Rob

Mods, why don’t you delete the sticky for 4.1 at top of forum and start a sticky for 4.2.6 since many of the problems we see on the board each day are the same? PHP version… new header.php file etc…?

    in reply to: Frustration #924688

Really great points… and I’m saddened to see this post was hidden from the list of posts on the Enfold forum. Really disappointing, guys… though it seems to re-appear with my reply.

And yes, we are beta testing with these mini releases that cause problems without providing ANY user experience benefit. I don’t know why anyone would do these updates — why not just wait for the big update that provides a change to user experience?

    Edit by Kriesi:
We did not hide this thread in any way. Maybe it just slipped to page 2/3?

Subscribing to this thread as it’s a great discussion and definitely I have been feeling this way for a while. I keep checking out other themes but really want to stick with Enfold. But it is frustrating to see the focus shift from theme functionality to creating more demos, which is about selling more themes, I get it… however that’s at the expense of better video handling and better mobile handling, especially the menus. I am still reeling from the menu update a few versions ago where the mega menus changed on mobile… I now have to have many sub-menus on mobile for users to access the same info they used to access with one click.

I have seen more support / faster support lately and the return of Vinay is great to see. It is also really helpful now to see when the next version is coming (to the right, on the forum) and to have changelogs updated as soon as the version comes out so we know what changed. It does seem like you guys are listening so we appreciate that.

I don’t quite understand the strategy of all the mini-updates (4.2.3, 4.2.4, etc) that don’t really impact user experience but I trust there’s a good reason for this.

    Thanks!!!

    Rob

in reply to: Enfold 4.2.5 Update #924205

My staging site keeps throwing this error when I update to 4.2.6… I’m leaving production at 4.2.3 as that seems to be the last stable version.

PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare builder_set_debug() (previously declared in /nas/content/staging/name/wp-content/themes/enfold-child/functions.php:66) in /nas/content/staging/name/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 26, referer: http://sitename.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=9545&action=edit

I don’t need help with this as I’m just going to wait for a future version of Enfold… but thought that error might be of some help as the devs work to make future versions more stable.

    Hi Yigit,

Ha ha, yes, but in this case very random and strange. You might want to leave this thread open as I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes back….

    Thanks for your help!

    Best,
    Rob

Yigit and Victoria, we have been adding this exact code to quick css for months now… and the problem keeps coming up in threads as each new version of Enfold is released. Are the devs ever going to add this to the theme? This is getting ridiculous and puts a lot of work on users and moderators. Looks like isee above even found the error in the code…. maybe he can join the dev team? :)

    Just my opinion.

    Cheers,
    Rob

    H Yigit!

This is really strange….but now I can’t replicate the alleged bug <?> on either staging or production… it’s working fine…. but I did nothing to fix it. No plugin updates or disables…. it’s just working again?

    Hi Yigit,

    You’re either up really late or really early! <big eye emoji> :) :) :)

No worries on crashing the staging site… that’s what they are there for. I am running out the door so can’t post new logins right now, but one comment… the button text / shortcode is exactly cut and pasted from the shortcode created when I used the “insert theme shortcode” magic wand in the toolbar of the editor…. so that’s why I’m thinking this is a minor bug. Shouldn’t it be making shortcodes that are formatted correctly as it always has?

OK I’m late, gotta run, more tomorrow … can push a new staging site and set up new logins if you want to test. But if you copy / paste the shortcode created with the “insert theme shortcode” on your own Enfold page, does it work?

    Thanks, more tomorrow

    Best,
    Rob

in reply to: Full Width Button Bug? #923487

    Hi Yigit!

Login is same on the thread you were just working on earlier this week…. I can’t access the password anymore so let me know if you want me to re-set it.

However, I think if you copy that shortcode to your installation or a demo site it will say “click me” instead of displaying properly?

    Best,
    Rob

in reply to: site broken after last update #923414

Home page is fine but click on an article (like “Garbage in Bali”) and you’ll see header breaks and gibberish on top of page…..

Fast Velocity Minify helped my page scores a lot, but has become less compatible with Enfold with the last few Enfold updates where they are working on css and js. I think they are streamlining Enfold with these mini updates so you might want to wait until the end of the month. Also, if you’re using Go Daddy, consider a better host that will provide a less overloaded server for your site.

Nevermind, I figured it out, needed to add font color / size for non-hover box.

OK to close this thread, thanks!
