Thanks Rikard,
The FTP method worked and I have updated to the latest versions of WP (5.5.3) and Enfold (4.7.6.5), but the Enfold child theme options are still only visible with the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin. I can keep using that workaround for now, but any ideas what the cause for that would be?
The warnings that show up are:

Thanks for the suggestion. Turns out it is Contact Form 7 that is causing it, no idea why, but I’d rather keep the forms than have the heavy ticks :)

I put the screen shot in as I had changed all the characters to the one that does work on the live site. To help with checking I amended the first tick back again in the toggle below.

Thanks for getting back to me. Here is a screen shot of how the ticks render when using the heavy ascii check mark (✔ — &# 10004 ;) as opposed to the light check mark that I have to change to (✓ — &# 10003 ;)

I have cleared down the browser cache and cookies and still having the same issue. I am viewing it on an Ipad2 using Safari if that makes a difference.
It works fine on the emulators, but not on the real thing.

Worked a dream. Quick question, does entering the changes here rather than via FTP mean that they will not be overwritten when I update the theme / wordpress?
P.S. Enfold is by far the best template I have worked with – love it.

Thanks. That is helpful, although I am actually trying to position next to the search icon, so right aligned in the menu bar as per the image below.
