  • Hi,
I thought the whole point of the exercise was to have settings only in child theme and I’d be resetting parent theme to original settings? I’m developing the website and in several months will outsource oversight of the website. I don’t want to have any problems at the handoff so wanted to start off with website theme configuration that follows best practices. If you think not resetting the parent theme will not cause any complications down the road when I have to handover oversight of the website, please let me know. Thx!

    Hi Rikard

Sorry to have to make you break this down. I’m summarizing my process below with my clarifications, please correct anything I have wrong. The plus side of this is that someone else with the same issue in the future will have a detailed instructions for exactly how to do this without messing up so hopefully fewer support tickets on this in future :) Thank you!

    High Level Process
Backup site via All-In-One WP Migration plug-in –> Under Enfold->Import/Export–> Export Theme Settings File –> Delete Current Enfold theme –> Delete Pages, Posts, Media, extra plug-ins –> Reset WordPress using “WordPresss Reset” plugin –> Upload the Entire Enfold Zip File I purchased (which will reset theme)–> Upload Child theme–>follow steps 2 to 4 of the “Installing Child Theme instructions” link –> Activate Child theme –> Import Theme Settings file –> Import Website Backup file via All-In-One WP Migration plug-in .

After that I’m back in business

@Rikard – thanks for the prompt response!

I have one Quick CSS to set custom margins/padding for containers, otherwise, the rest of the customizations are changes to default settings via Enfold Theme Options (general layout, general styling, etc.). I also started customizing the content of pages – my main concern is having to start from scratch pasting content on pages, not so much any theme settings.

From what you said (and my response above) I take it I didn’t change any core theme files? Assuming we agree that I didn’t change any core theme files, could you clarify next steps?

Are you suggesting that I do the following:
Under Enfold->Import/Export–> Import Theme Settings File–> Upload the Entire Enfold Zip File I purchased (which will reinstall theme)–> Upload Child theme–>follow steps 2 to 4 of the “Installing Child Theme instructions” in the link below.

This is now working thank you. You can close the ticket.

After research I think I’ve figured out the problem. The problem isn’t the need to change layout from stretched to Boxed. The problem is the the FullWidth Area is wider than my content (in General layout –> I have Maximum Container Width = 1296px). I want to keep the Image + page title configuration that’s in the FullWidth area BUT don’t want “Image + page title” to be wider than the content. How can I reduce the width of the FullWidth Area so it matches the content width? If there’s no way to reduce the width of the Fullwidth area, can it be removed? If so, how can I retain the “Image + page title” setup which can be applied to all the pages on my site?

According to this documentation – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/header/#header-width “By default, the width of the content inside the header is same as the width of the container which is set in Enfold > General Layout > Dimensions > Maximum Container width” but my header seems to be wider than the Maximum width I specified.

Hi Nikko, thanks for your response!
As previously stated, I already set General Layout to Boxed Layout and set a Maximum Container Width. Perhaps I didn’t clearly articulate the problem. After setting to Boxed+ Max Width, I expected content (color sections, headers and footers) to align with the background/header picture at the top of the page. But there seem to be margins to the right and left of my content sections. How can I remove those margins (?) so that all content aligns with the image at the top of each page? Please see the link 1 in the original post which illustrates the problem and link 2 which is the overall look I want to achieve.
