It finally fixed itself!
Yes I have and it is still doing it. When I make a change to the home page and click the UPDATE button..it goes to 404!
see here:I have udpated everything. Cleared Cache…
This has never happened in the years I have edited this site. Something that just started. No new plugins..no changes.Just trying to make a simple change to the home page..remove a graphic and text.

But finally, I went to the THEME OPTIONS and clicked on UPDATE MANUALLY and it finally stopped the looping and it took the update needed message away!
So there is a BUGGY PROBLEM!
No the issue has not gone away. I update and it still says I need an update, then I update again and it finally works…So I am having to do it twice…WEIRD!!!
Here is what finally worked for me:
This worked for me:
There is a problem with Envato and this requires a different way of updating for this version. Here is how I did it and it worked fine for me:
the easiest and quickest way to update to v4.5 is if you have CPanel access to your site:1. Download the “Installable WordPress file only” from your Themeforest account
2. Login to your website’s CPanel – normally found at yourwebsite.com/cpanel
3. Open File Manager and navigate to the \wp-content\themes\ directory of your website
4. Rename the Enfold folder to Enfold-old
5. Upload the ZIP file you downloaded in step 1 to \wp-content\themes\
6. Extract the ZIP file you uploaded in step 5 to \wp-content\themes\
7. Delete the ZIP file you uploaded in step 5
When you check your website’s WordPress admin you will be updated to v4.5.
The previous version of Enfold will still be there – you can delete this if you are happy that the update has worked okay.I also downloaded the Envato Market Plugin and used it to generate API code for each website.

You have to have a license code for each different installation of Enfold. I downloaded the Envato Market plugin and generated code for each site that way. But you can do it there when you log in. Just add a new app code for each site.

So…FINALLY…I uploaded the Envato Market Plugin and generated a new token and Now everything is working. Was this ever told to us before? I told recall seeing it.
Do we have to leave the plugin on the site once it has ok’d the new TOKEN?

Yes that is correct. You need a different token for each site. Also another Mod said to use an INCOGNITO browser page, log in and put the new code in that way for success. Good luck. I am having issues as well.
This reply has been marked as private. So I tried this yesterday and it didn’t work. How does this plugin function? I installed it, but I see no way it interacts with anything differently? I am confused. I tried to FTP but that wasn’t successful either.
Is this going to be fixed??? I have clients who update themselves and they certainly won’t go through all of this.I got new API App Codes at Envato. Are these the ones I will use when I finally get this thing updated??? Too confusing.
I am trying it with the suggested plugin to update the theme. Will let you know if it works. Such a shame all of this could have been avoided in the first place.
The PLUGIN did not work. I am just going to wait for you all to fix it.

This is all sooooo confusing. Why can’t this be explained simply.
Can I just do this all by FTP???
rename the Enfold Folder to old,
Create a new Enfold folder
Then ftp the new downloaded files to the server???Will it then be ok for the next update?
Thank youI can’t read your post.
This reply has been marked as private.I have a half dozen sites all on the same server. They all update automatically except for this one. I did download and ftp the files manually as you said and it broke the sketch with 500 error message.
Finally went into the cpanel and did a restore files from backups and then it started working and the update took! Go figure😽I will have to recheck with client to be sure she put in the correct license code. Do codes use – or just all numbers? That could be the issue I just discovered.
Thanks as always for your help.Managed to fix by restoring files in my cpanel but am at a loss as to why this happens every time with ftp
