our customer has enjoyed the Enfold Theme since 2014-5 I believe but now somehow all pages have this kind of content

    [av_heading tag='h3' padding='5' heading='Welcome to our product portefolio' color='' style='' custom_font='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' custom_class='' admin_preview_bg='' av-desktop-hide='' av-medium-hide='' av-small-hide='' av-mini-hide='' av-medium-font-size-title='' av-small-font-size-title='' av-mini-font-size-title='' av-medium-font-size='' av-small-font-size='' av-mini-font-size=''][/av_heading]

and it says ‘classic’ on top of the content. I’ve tried to “Convert to blocks” but the special codes stays in place.

No matter what ‘editor’ I try to install – the content continue to look the same. All is good on the “front-end” of things – but no one can update the website anymore (well, I know that technically we could, if I edit the special tags and stuff, but …

My question is – how can I get back to the Enfold editing?

    Hey Bobybarns,

Could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.9.2.3) to see if that helps please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    I’ll get right to it!

    Thx for a quick reply!

When I wrote you back, I was half-way through trying out this trick

Funny thing is – upon loading every page it looks almost like it’s there – then the ‘classic’ part “wins” and pushes other kinds of editor down

After using your suggestion the layout editor is back albeit in a somewhat ‘transparent’ version with some text blocks showing stuff like this

    [av_heading tag='h3' padding='5' heading='Velkommen til vores produktportefølje ' color='' style='' custom_font='' size='' subheading_active='' subheading_size='15' custom_class='' admin_preview_bg='' av-desktop-hide='' av-medium-hide='' av-small-hide='' av-mini-hide='' av-medium-font-size-title='' av-small-font-size-title='' av-mini-font-size-title='' av-medium-font-size='' av-small-font-size='' av-mini-font-size='' av_uid='av-5wae39a'][/av_heading][av_one_full first av_uid='av-5ut65hq']
    [av_textblock size='' font_color='' color='' av_uid='av-5svp2wu']

Here’s an image – maybe that will explain better

that same page is – to the customers full satisfaction (I’m not proud of it though) – perfectly viewable here:

    best regards,
    Walther

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

Did you switch the from the classic or block editor to the Advance Layout Builder (ALB)? Looks like the page or product was first built using the classic or block editor, then later switched to use the ALB, which is why the actual shortcodes are displayed instead of the builder elements. You may need to recreate the page using the ALB.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    hi Ismael,

thx for commenting on this issue

I do understand what you say – but page was created with the ALB and then the ALB somehow stopped working (which is why I opened this issue) – and reinstalling the theme did, to some extent, fix the ALB not working. But there are quite a few ‘av_code’ elements sticking in the builder elements.

But what you are saying is that we have to rebuild the entire thing (all pages basically) to have these short-codes disappear?

    best regards,
    Walther

    Hi,
Thanks for the screenshots, is there a possibility that the person who previously built this site in 2014 had added the shortcodes in the text elements using the Shortcode Wand from the Classic Editor?
I have seen some sites where people have done this and everything works fine on the frontend, it just looks odd in the backend.
Unfortunately, there is not an automatic way to convert these hybrid pages to strictly ALB pages, but if you want to manually adjust these you could Enable the Avia Layout Builder Debugger to do so.
I recommend saving plain text copies of the full page shortcode just in case you somehow brake the shortcode, don’t depend on the revisions.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    hi Mike!

It’s such a pleasure feeling cared for! WordPress websites is not a huge part of oour small company – so it’s good to know where to get help!
I’ll ask – but the tip on turning on the Avia Layout Builder Debugger is a good one, and I’ll use that.
Luckily this is not a humongous site (merely 10-15 pages in all) but if we’d get this hit on our biggest site with 15,000+ posts (another of our customers has 20+ years worth of Joomla ‘mis’usage under his belt), my comments probably would come forward a bit more “agitated”

thank you again for your interest and concern!
I don’t know how/where to “close” this issue – but I consider it, well (if not entirely happily), solved.

    Best regards,
    Walther

    Hi,
Glad to hear, I don’t believe that you would see this error naturally occur from Enfold sites that were updated in the past or will be updated in the future, our Dev Team has been very pro active in keeping the theme backward compatible. I have seen very old versions updated to the latest version successfully.
Please note that if a user edits an ALB page with a different editor, such as the Classic Editor, Block Editor, or some other editor plugin, they will not be able to convert it back to an ALB page automatically, it will become a hybrid page. I only point this out should a client add some builder plugin and start editing pages.
Unless there is anything else we can assist with on this issue, shall we close this then?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    hi,

I understand, and happy to learn that the “stats are on our side” :D

Yes please close this issue – and thank so much. Our next WordPress web project will be using Enfold – hands down!
Can I transfer the equivalent of a regular purchase key – I believe it’s currently 59US at Envato – directly to you guys for the effort put into this issue?
