Site Crash due to database overuse

The site starts to go slow and then the entire server is down due to the database overuse , I have checked that he WP table wp_postmeta has grown exponentially in the last month from 200 MB to 900 MB and the grown is in the wp_postmeta table, that appears to repeat information with a lot of rows apparently redundant :

Any fix ?
And any suggestion to decrease the wp_postmeta removing unnecesary rows?
