Are you comfortable with FTP? Here is my step by step guide which I wrote a couple months ago. I hope it helps you to update your theme.
Do not forget to make a full website backup before doing anything else.

Thanks for the FTP login details. We will need WordPress admin login details as well if you need help with updating, also please verify that you have backups of the site in case something should go wrong.
The FTP login details you posted seems to be working, but it’s timing out before I get to see any files. Please verify that the FTP details are correct as well.

RikardI did the FTP steps but the step 10 (pasted below) don’t make sense to me – I don’t see any way on the https://build.envato.com page to generate a new private key – also it refers to my apps but I don’t have an app, I just have a website tring to use the envato theme. Also I see no mention of permissions for private API keys on that other page. So I am lost. Can you help?

10) Your current API token will not work anymore as Envato changed some stuff on their API. Therefore you need to remove your current key and generate a new private key as visible in your themeforest account under “Settings” -> “API keys”. Go to https://build.envato.com and follow the steps there. To me, https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#toggle-id-5 was also very helpful (scroll down a bit there to find out about the permissions your private API key needs in order to check for future Enfold updates). Without these permissions it will not work.Hi
Let me explain it in more detail:
a) Go to https://build.envato.com/ and sign in on the top.
b) Scroll down until you see the title “Your personal tokens”.
c) Click the button “Create a new token” and grant sufficient access according to step 2 here https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token
d) Insert this key into Enfold – done.Does that help?

Are there any effort being made to sort this out?
Kinda a real pain having to continually request Ftp details so i can load a theme. would love to have some feedback on this pleaseRegards

Yes, the issue is fixed on the latest versions of Enfold.
The problem with updating with the older version of Enfold was because envato have changed their API and replaced the use of API keys with tokens.
Once you have updated to the latest version you should be able to update the theme normally without any issues.Best regards,
