Hi, I have a number of Enfold sites. Normally the update works fine, but so far I have not managed to get it to work on any of them. I’m on version 4.4.1 and looking to put on the latest 4.5 to keep up to date.
Error message on both sites tried so far is An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.
The lines with errors are the same on both sites, so I’m wondering if there’s a problem with the latest update? Further error info in private area.
October 29, 2018 at 8:39 pm #1027734I am having same issue. Same version number and error message.

Hope it helps.Best regards,
NikkoOctober 30, 2018 at 5:18 pm #1028169OK, so basically sounds like the auto-update is not going to work this time and we need to either amend the code in enfold/framework/php/auto-updates/ or else rename the old theme and upload a fresh one.
I will try that, but please can you also advise, are you going to fix the update now button soon? As it sounds like this has been a problem for a few weeks.
thanks,
October 30, 2018 at 6:49 pm #1028195I’m having the same issue and don’t have time to manually update as we have multiple websites.
October 30, 2018 at 7:02 pm #1028197Manual update works.
After update go to: Style Theme Options / Theme Update and set-up a new Envato private token. As the old api key is depreciated.October 30, 2018 at 7:27 pm #1028200Hello,
I’m having the same issue, and I’m not comfortable with amending codes. Has there been any other viable resolution created yet to resolve this issue? If I redownload my previous purchase, will I need to repay for the theme, or can I reactivate a new API key, and have that process work for me in reviving the current update?Thank you.
October 31, 2018 at 4:57 pm #1028536I am realising the problem is that Envato have changed the API. All my sites have old API keys as per enfold documentation, I guess that’s why the update won’t work.
Sounds like we create a new ‘personal token’ here https://build.envato.com/create-token/. Does anybody know about this?
1. is it a token per website or just one for all my accounts?
2. What options do you need to select on creating the token?
3. Will the update button work with the NEW token?
4. is this system likely to change again, as I see Kriesi sound like they’re working on this for future updates – should I just wait for the next update?November 2, 2018 at 7:03 am #1029049Hi,
@ac, sorry for the late reply, you are correct about the API / Token, please see this post about the new Token.
We have corrected this issue with the version 4.5 update, it is recommend to update manually.
There is a free plugin that will allow you to manually update via the WordPress Theme panel by uploading the enfold.zip file, otherwise you can update via FTP, please remember to delete the current enfold folder and then upload the new one. Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.
My recommendation is to go to your Theme Forest account and download the updated Enfold v4.5 and manually update it, then going forward it will use the new Token keys. All users will need to generate a new token for updates. Please see this post
Please let us know if you would like some help updating. Here are the steps to update with the plugin
*Please ensure your “PHP Max Upload Size” is at least 20mb, because Enfold is 16.7mb.
1: please install the plugin: Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File
2: then go to WordPress > Themes > Add New > Upload
3: after the install, click “Return to Themes page” (NOT Activate)
4: success:
Best regards,
MikeNovember 5, 2018 at 10:33 pm #1030072Thank you. I have one particular site where the private token won’t register. It’s fine on 2 other sites, but won’t go in on the third. Any ideas?
November 5, 2018 at 10:39 pm #1030076Another site where the personal token won’t go in. The arrow keeps going round. It’s very odd as two of them are quite similar but it only works on one of them.
November 6, 2018 at 1:32 am #1030137This worked for me:
There is a problem with Envato and this requires a different way of updating for this version. Here is how I did it and it worked fine for me:
the easiest and quickest way to update to v4.5 is if you have CPanel access to your site:1. Download the “Installable WordPress file only” from your Themeforest account
2. Login to your website’s CPanel – normally found at yourwebsite.com/cpanel
3. Open File Manager and navigate to the \wp-content\themes\ directory of your website
4. Rename the Enfold folder to Enfold-old
5. Upload the ZIP file you downloaded in step 1 to \wp-content\themes\
6. Extract the ZIP file you uploaded in step 5 to \wp-content\themes\
7. Delete the ZIP file you uploaded in step 5
When you check your website’s WordPress admin you will be updated to v4.5.
The previous version of Enfold will still be there – you can delete this if you are happy that the update has worked okay.I also downloaded the Envato Market Plugin and used it to generate API code for each website.
