    Good morning

I have been contacted by a couple of clients in the last week who have advised their website contact forms are being spammed, despite the fact they have the equation captcha enabled.

As many more of my clients have the form on their website, I’m guessing this may become an issue.

Any suggestions what can be done to prevent this from happening (other than removing the form)?

    Many thanks for your help

    Hey Ivana,
I took a look at your link, but didn’t find a form, I assume you have taken down the form while addressing this issue?
One option is to add the Google recaptcha to the contact form with this customization Another option, that may be easier, is to use the contact form 7 plugin with a Google recaptcha API key.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Many thanks for your quick response Mike. Yes the webhosting company disabled the form as it was sending out lots of spam.

I guess I will need to look at Contact Form 7 plugin.

Do you know if there are any plans to include more secure captcha in future releases of the theme?

If clients are serious about building email lists, they should be embedding forms with integration through a provider like Mailchimp etc.

I use Mailchimp with Enfold forms on over 20 different client sites – all with no issue. Saves double entry for client and ensures they are on the right path for best marketing practices also. Mailchimp will pick up spam.

I totally agree with you Scott. Unfortunately most of my clients are intimidated by technology and are not interested in any kind of automation as it would mean learning new systems or paying someone else to do it. Believe me I’ve tried to convince them.

    Hi,

    @web4smallbusiness
I found a topic that may help you if your spammers are using email addresses that end with ru or cn, it’s a customization for the Enfold contact form to block them.

    Best regards,
    Mike
